Same, €742 isn't a price I can justify. I was very much looking forward to it and had money saved for it, but that steep price is telling me they're not interested in selling it to the masses and won't sell a huge amount, that means not a lot of support from games and sims as that musn't motivates game developers either to dedicate to it. It is after all a luxury high-end product only a minority will be willing to invest in (in its first iteration at least). I'm not saying it priced wrong though, it may very well be worth its price given the product's quality, but we're well past the "affordable VR" they preached these past few years. The door is wide open for Valve/HTC.

I don't think trainers are a waste of time, if it weren't for the C-101 development problems I would have bought the L-39, alas I couldn't bring myself to buy a second trainer in alpha/beta. But trainers are capable light fighters and great little birds that offer a pleasant and optimized learning environment for basic, advanced maneuver and procedures training. I am very impressed with this mirage 2000-C. I told myself I wouldn't buy into alpha or beta modules ever since the hawk and C-101. But I still pre-purchased it at the last minute considering the numerous detailed and honest footage there were of the aircraft. It did not disappoint. It is such a pleasure to fly and operate. I never really was into dogfight and air superiority missions, mainly because the FC3 "gamey" fighters aren't too appealing to me, but with the mirage we're entering a new era. I can't wait for more full fidelity modules to be added in DCS and compete with the Mirage 2000-C. Of course it still needs a lot of work, but according to the development pace thus far and level of communication by Razbam this module's success seems secured.

Indeed, from my experience it's mostly spawn in the shiniest plane available, hit a couple of hotkeys to start the aircraft up, spAMRAAM around, reckless piloting, respawn & repeat. I cannot wait for the day where various full fidelity 4th gen fighters are available coupled with servers that forbid FC3 modules and enforces a system of war resource. A bit like the blue flag MP campaign but only for full fidelity aircrafts and with resources rules pushed further so that loosing an aircraft/pilot really has an impact. Maybe even a campaign where every pilot has only one life (generating Heli missions for pilot recovery if the pilot ejected). I reckon that would create intense and vastly different online behavior. But I digress.

True, a few touches here and there in order to fix a few issues with modern hardware. They also signed a contract with Microsoft stating that they aren't allowed to modify FSX in any major way. This is merely a licensing agreement to be able to bring FSX on Steam so they (Dovetail) can better market upcoming 3rd party addons they have invested in.
-
Well, FSX and P3D to name only those have been bogged down in their own tech for a decade, painfully trying to make do with outdated code while breaking the least possible amount of 3rd party addons as it's what they thrives on. I won't talk about FSX cause that's a dead-end for a long time development-wise, but P3D for exemple aren't really interested in pushing their project too hard nor be at the spearhead of air simulation. They are supported by fanthusiasts that for the most part will spend hundreds of euros/dollars on minor updates every now and then because it's their passion. Eagle Dynamics is of course also supported by passionate people and I won't and can't talk in ED's name, but obviously they are more interested in marketing their product just right while still staying at the top of their game, take and keep their lead on the market segment they're targeting, modern (and soon to be WW2) combat simulation. So yes, between ED and other sims like FSX & P3D it's night and day, not to take anything from ED since they're incredible and I still haven't found any other sim that has such fidelity & realism, but it might not be as much of ED being awesome as the other competitors being allowed, encouraged even, to rest on their laurels because of their community.

Thanks for the heads-up. :)

I'm tempted to start translating that pilot manual into English for those who aren't that fluent in French but that might also be a huge waste of time should an English manual or similar documents be already present at beta release. Not to mention the real life manual might not be perfectly accurate in regards to the DCS simulated a/c.
-
I told myself I'd wait until the A/C is further developed to buy it, but who am I kidding, the Mirage 2000 is such an iconic french beauty that I might as well get it sooner rather than later. The many videos, screenshot, AFM and infos on its development reassured me on its development's pace and quality. I happily support Razbam and ED, Mirage 2000C Bought.

That's a bit uncalled for. Someone is willing to support a 3rd party and ED but would have preferred a solid release date, that's understandable, but telling that person to simply keep its money and don't buy anything has got to be the worst and most inconsiderate advice. Dates, even by officials, are mostly guesstimates, that's the nature of software development. It is how it is, but showing your support by buying into the module means more funding to develop that module, Eagle Dynamics and in turn all of the DCS World experience we're all enjoying. Besides he's right, if devs could give solid dates and stick to it they would, it's easier to market. I really wouldn't tell anyone that want to support and better our hobby "These are the rules, if you don't like it don't buy it. k thx bye"

It'd be nice to have a 'momentary' or 'toggle' option for the various controls where applicable, much like the "Add Modifier" option we have now. So that the sim detects a control state and not just a control change.

Didn't work here. I turned all shadows OFF and flat shadows OFF, I'll try to turn the flat shadows ON though, as I understand that's the old 1.2 shadows. I'll try to progressively turn all graphic options off to try and narrow down the issue. But so far in all my testing the sim crashes to desktop with the same error a few minutes in, on almost all modules that I've tried except on the Su-25 (not the "t" variant), regardless of the type of mission. The Su-25 is the only module that is stable in my experience. I've only tried the Su-25, Su-25T, A-10C, Huey and C-101. Note that that's on a freshly installed Windows 7 x64. (Had to make sure it wasn't on my end).

That's nice of you to support 1.5, but the rain effect in 1.5 is the same rain effect as 1.2. Nothing's changed. They'll get to update these weather effects in due time like they said they would. I'm sure they'll do a great job at it if the new smoke effect is anything to go by. ;)
-
Yes, it looks good in the mig though, the sun just removes most of the light effects but we can still see the lights still being there underneath just like in real life. While here everything is just on or off, thus it looked like a bug, to me at least. ^^
-
You're right, looking at our pictures it seem to follow exactly the shadows. It doesn't look right though, maybe it's a feature that needs tweaking, or a bug that is related with shadow casting.

Various parts gauges in the front panel along with the watch and various texts aren't covered by the cockpit lights.
-
That's an old one, but it's still there. :smilewink: I tried going a little on the grass to see if it got fixed but my A-10C got stuck pretty quickly as per usual.
-
Same, I get a CTD within 10 minutes every time. I tried with the Su-25t, the C-101 and the A-10C. Not doing anything particular, no weapon employement or anything. Just flying. I'm on Win 7 x64 too. Everything is on max except DOF which is off. I'll try with the lowest settings. Logs.rar

"You thought the waiting was just about to end..." Giveaway
Vivoune replied to xaoslaad's topic in Community News
Best of luck to everyone and thank you Xaoslaad ^^ -
Thanks for being so open with communication ED. *give positive thoughts*

That's nice of you. You always have the solution to buy something and gift it to someone you like. Feel free to gift me a L-39 or a Nevada map, I'll happily fly around in formation and learn it with you. But in all seriousness, just being part of the community, contributing and buying yourself the modules that interrests you is what keeps ED going. Just buy what you think is worth it, if everyone does that ED is sure to keep releasing incredible modules for us to enjoy. :)

Between smoke tests and cigar celebration there's a lot of smoking going on in sim developement! Thanks for the hard work and the updates.

I never said DCS v1.5 was out. I think you both missed an article when reading me. ;) I was just making a nostalgia joke but you seem so excited tonight that I guess it isn't the best time.

Did you watch the video? :music_whistling:
