  1. Well I don't know about all of their lineups, but for example the Mk.18 is about 280 euros.
  2. Thanks for the digging and sharing Thor, that's very helpful! And I can only read everywhere great testimonies of that product construction quality so I'm sure it is indeed very solid, your video on youtube also helped a lot on getting a good view of that set of pedals thanks for doing it. Still to be honest if in the same price range I can get full steel/alu product with about the same features/precision I probably would go for the full metal one. So features/precision and general feel is what is gonna weight in the balance in the end, hopefully the SlowDevice pedals creator can help shed some lights about specifications of his sets, I've asked him more specs on SimHQ.
  3. I indeed salute the modability and adaptability of the MFG set. The centering feeling has been one of the first raised concerns/questions about the SlowDevice pedals and apparently it is very well handled. As in: it is felt but non intrusive and there's no noticeable backlash when you fast change direction. The design mechanic is similar to VKB pedals.
  4. Thank you for your valuable input Lausbub, that's reassuring. I'm currently balancing these MFG set with VKB products (Although the new Mk22 [A revised Mk21-3] is only due to Q1 2014, probably Q4 2013 but unlikely) and also that great looking set that just arrived on the market last month. The price is about the same though I gotta learn more about how it fares against the MFG in terms of features, the controller card, the type of sensors and their precision..
  5. I can't quite get the grasp of the material used for that set of pedals. It looks like compensed wood with paint and plastic casing on the sides. That can't be right, right? I'm searching for a proper high quality set of rudder pedals and these looks nice but I have my doubts about the main material of it.
  6. yup I made sure of that indeed. Besides, is it normal that even if a unit's in range that every small house, water tower and other containers are shown on the map? I guess it could be handy for mission designing in terms of point of reference or targetting but damn I wish the HIDDEN option would actually do something. X)
  7. Hi guys, So I tried the past few days the nice Huey module and I love it but my shoulder hate it with a passion for the simple reason that my TM HOTAS Warthog Joystick is just way way too hard for all the constant tiny heli corrections and after half an hour I just have to stop entirely. So I figured it was time to take care of my Joystick as I always found it a bit too hard and not that smooth. I ordered some Molykote EM-30L grease and plan to replace the grease to treat the smooth problem.About the hardness, I tried to remove the big spring entirely and place all four little springs on top of the inside base but I'm not really liking it, sure it's very loose now, but it's way too loose and the joystick doesn't even goes back to the middle on its own, not to mention it prefers to avoid and go around the center position whenever I go straight from one side to the other which is because it's not used as originally designed I guess. So I thought I'd see if having another spring in there could be an option and I was surprised when Thrustmaster very kindly sent me the (one) spring specification sheet that they could find. Very helpful considering how helpless I was after I contacted a spring specialised company at how much data they need to do a proper custom spring. So anyway I didn't go through with it just yet but I though I'd share the specs with you guys and see if some of you tried custom springs. For the record, the price I could get was about 50 euros per spring. I asked for two versions, the original Spring, to have the referal specs and a 3mm wire diameter version for a lighter version (original being 4mm) and an adapted number of spired for a reduced force by grossly 2/3. Given the specs sent by thrustmaster the numbers looks good. Note that it's a translated version so the technical terminology might not be perfect. most of the first 2 letters/digits are just the international abbreviations I beleive. I don't know if I'll go through with it yet though I gotta say having the whole TM Warthog experience the way it's supposed to but with the possibility of a 2/3 powered down big spring. That's quite tempting, even if the one spring is 50 euros.
  8. It seems so yea, although I tend to question my lack of knowledge of the mission editor first. But it is indeed quite odd, some units or statics are showing, regardless of whether they are HIDDEN or DEAD and completely isolated from any detection source. It seems that if it's part of your coalition then it shows on the map no matter what. The only way I found around it is to make it of the opposing coalition. That will hide it on the map (and going even near it with your units won't show it on the map though it's quite weird).
  9. Thanks for the help, both the mission option and game option are set to field of view. Though I don't think the game options are relevent since the enforce option in the mission file's sole purpose is, afaik, to override the game's options.
  10. I'm trying myself at building a little Combined Arm Operation currently but I run into a problem that I just can't seem to overcome. Despite defining the options as field of view only, most of things are actually appearing on the F10 map which pretty much give away stuff that should be hidden. I was first checking HIDING in every unit I placed but since it changed nothing I unchecked it so things are clearer in the mission editing, most of the things I place are also checked as DEAD to create rumbles and the likes but it seems they're just showed anyway on the map regardless. If most stuff I place on the map are shown depspite the view/map options, down to even little houses, it will be very crowded fast for no reasons, I mean even the dull statics like containers shows a pin on the map . X) So I figured I must be missing something. Anyone could point me in the right direction? Cheers!
  11. Thanks Zentaos, it seems throttle full up and forget about it is the way. At last I can enjoy VRS!
  12. I must be missing something, I never really got the chance to seriously try the Huey yet I hoped in the other day to check 1.2.6. I think I understand why this is happening, being a WIP feature like stated on OP, but doesn't the fact that the throttle is either all or nothing prevent you guys from flying? Because personally, with my HOTAS Warthog it just feels like mission impossible. I mean the only throttle input the motor accept is when I push the throttle to the max which just gets the motor rolling from the bare minimum 40 RPM to the max (and eventually rotor brakes and part with the heli entirely) lol, I've absolutely no control in between. I'm pretty sure I'm missing something since you guys are apparently flying and finding it that much easier. :) Note that I indeed deleted all Huey control files beforehand. Quick question while I'm at it, do you guys control collective and throttle separately or as one control? In 1.2.6 I tried doing a bit of both but didn't get much success in either even if, to my limited knowledge of real life helis, they are now mostly combined controls that are being automatically handled and managed for the pilot.
  13. Com is key. Properly simulated integrated communication system is a must in my opinion. Installing several 3rd party softs and configure them properly are some steps that I'd very gladly get rid of. Not to mention the ppl who don't bother with it at all. I'd actually gladly pay like 10 dollars for a DCS: Com module that would properly integrate TARS-like system in-game for DCS modules.
  14. What is your source about 6DOF for the consumer version? Last time I checked they were merely considering it given the technical difficulties they were facing it wasn't a priority. 1080p, still is too low to properly read a detailed HUD and gauges, not to mention spotting the tiny dots that is the enemy. Have you tried the OR? It's not like a regular screen, 720p is far from achieving the 720p resolution of a single monitor. It is all blurry and doesn't allow you to read anything. I don't know if ED is working on implementing it or not and if your whining is even relevant but whatever ED choose I'm sure it'll be for the best of DCS. P.S You shouldn't be so inclined to call "stupid" people's actions you either don't understand or agree with
  15. The f-35 module is happening regardless of the KS campaign as it is already funded. That KS campaign was a way to raise that much more to get things moving that much faster.
  16. Now that the unsuccessful campaign comes at an end you bet all kind of birds will come around and use that particular campaign as a means to support irrelevant arguments.
  17. And your carelessness towards KS obviously makes you miss its point. Its sole purpose it so crowd-fund a project, sometimes it's a project that is near completion with plenty to show sometimes it's just a fresh idea that calls for community support, in both cases something is shown, if it's not enough for you then fair-enough, don't participate in the campaign, that doesn't mean what is displayed isn't good enough for someone else to pledge. You're just one of these people that love to think they speak for everyone else, you're not. That community you like to define as undemanding compulsive buyers is probably the complete opposite, it's not compulsive, it is dedicated, it is not undemanding but incredibly exigent and acute customers like most niche communities. Yes some aircraft are vastly more popular than others. 'Dude' had spent 2 millions on the Star Citizen prototype and two years time of work before staging his coming back with Star Citizen and its crowd-funding debut, if that's nothing to you and merely marketing well I understand your expectation weren't matched with KI's campaign.
  18. That's the whole point of Kickstarter, to give money first and create later, thanks to the funding. Crowd-funding is a very successful marketing and funding method across the globe these past few years, imo it's more a question of popularity of the chosen aircraft.
  19. I'm sure if the Occulus Rift comes out in a consumer version which resolution make HUDs and cockpit gauges readable they will eventually implement the code to support it but let's not put the carriage ahead of the horses just yet, that product is not even released and is still in the process of being designed. As much as I love the OR there's not much point in supporting it in it's devkit version given the low 720p resolution and lack of 6DOF. IMHO.
  20. I just can't wait for the new rendering engine. I know a loooot of people seems to not really care about it and just want new aircraft thinking the current graphics are good enough but damn, I'm one of those that needs strong immersion to get sucked in a virtual world and believable geometry, textures and effects is the main road to go there. Despite how much I'm eager to get my hands on the F-18 and new terrains, EDGE really is the one thing I'm really looking forward to. I'd gladly support ED and buy EDGE the way I bought other modules, especially if I know it allows ED to develop it further and quicker. For example it could be nice to be able to "pre-order" a "support edition" of EDGE or some premium variant of the free EDGE, not that it'd be too different from the free variant, just give me an excuse and option to support it.
  21. there has been a little revolution in screen technologies the past few years, mostly thanks to the smart phone boom and portable tablets. That's why the OR is now possible. It still needs the tech to go a bit further though so it can be made with great resolution and more cheaply, right now most high-tech screen manufacturers kind of laugh at OculusVR when they present the low numbers they'd like manufactured when they're used to big numbers cellphone contracts, that's a barrier. but with 4320p screens coming our way (aka 8k) and always ongoing miniaturization who knows where we'll be a year or two from now.
  22. Have you considered the SAITEK Combat rudder pedals? That's pretty much all there is on the market for a 'reasonable' price (or its older versions).
