DCS: Roadmap (unofficial - NO DISCUSSION HERE)
rubblebeam replied to Silver_Dragon's topic in DCS 2.9
Oh, no worries. I just thought it was sad that they are probably victims of the RRG fiasco. I do hope they find work soon and that their work to date doesn't get wasted. -

An interesting topic over at military meshes http://www.military-meshes.com/forum/showthread.php?7117-Our-6-years-work-for-simulators-) Does anybody know anything about those guys? There are a couple of unannounced modules right there and I do hope those guys get back to work soon. Very talented. -
Is there any word on the release to the backers of the map making SDK? A certain pledge amount and above get the SDK maybe?

DCS WWII: 1944 FAQ Discussion
rubblebeam replied to LostOblivion's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Luthier was no longer involved in the project. Luthier was contracted to continue work on helping with some of the manuals a touch contradictory don't you think? Kickstarter funds covered a small amount (“drop in the bucket”) of total funds needed to successfully complete the products They were never meant to complete the project Q: ED is taking the assets of RRG and getting nothing but profits from this, off our money right? A: No, ED has already assumed many costs associated with the project, the fact is all the Kickstarter money was spent before ED took over. While it is true that ED has recovered, or believed to have recovered all the assets, much work is left to be done, and a rough estimate of 10-15 percent of the project is actually completed, some of which was already funded by ED Lets say the kickstarter funds covered 5% of 1 aircraft. That's 5% of work ED don't have to do. They're going to make a profit on those 5% Q: ED was funding this project all along A: No, not at all, no one knows where RRG was going to acquire the funding to satisfy its lofty goals, ED only got heavily invested when things started to go south. June update The vast majority of funds needed to finance this project have and will continue to come from Eagle Dynamics (not Kickstarter). No offence sith but you don't seem to know what you're talking about. Q: ED bought out RRG and all its assets right? A: ED didn’t buy, acquire or takeover RRG. The details of how it all transferred may never be known, but what we do know is it appeared Luthier surrendered all the assets created with the Kickstarter money, and some of the employees were hired by ED to help continue the project as not to disrupt their other projects. "The details of how it all transferred may never be known" So you don't really have an "A:" Q: Why not just offer a refund? A: Its complicated, but the short answer is this, The money was spent before ED stepped in, ED believes people want DCS WWII. They thought the best path was to make the project workable, and continue to develop it, in turn offering a realistic compromise on the reward structure In other words they think they can make a profit from it. Q: Why cant you refund the money and just make the project anyways A: This would be an incredibly hard hit to the bank roll, it would be a big enough loss that the project would have to be scrapped. They are already expected to continue to fund the project, but adding an 150,000 hit right off the start. Well its too much. Why not give a refund to those that want a refund. Not everybody wants a refund, some folk are happy with the restructuring. It's not going to add an extra 150k. Q: I am not happy with my reward structure, why cant you give me more? A: ED did its best to make the value the best it could, while still remaining profitable. They are still a business, and they have to protect that as well. They have been very open to reviewing and making changes so far. "While still remaining profitable" says it all really. I'm not trying to be funny but seriously! -
You made your point now close this down it's an obvious troll post looking for a rise from the unhappy backers
-
Folk need to read the kickstarter again. Read the part about where the kickstarter money was going to go. The money being raised is only a portion of the development budget. The majority of the programming, some aircraft art, and more, are the costs that the team is funding internally. The initial kickstarter goal is needed to fund a longer more extensive beta testing period for the game, giving all its components extra polish, and to make the game landscape more alive by creating a larger variety of ground objects and vehicles, and spending more time to hand-craft various historical areas such as accurate recreations of more coastline villages, important bridges, unique airfields, and more. That's what the kickstarter money was for. Now re read the June update The vast majority of funds needed to finance this project have and will continue to come from Eagle Dynamics (not Kickstarter). Have and will continue to come from ED.

My pledge level showed my desire. I wanted this project to succeed just as much as anybody. But if ED are financially unable to fulfill the rewards they should have left the backers to take it up with Kickstarter and left the project well alone.
-
Because I voice an opinion that doesn't mesh with the majority in here im a troll? Have a word with yourself sith.
-
A touch hostile aren't you. If ED is not capable of fulfilling the promises made by the original company, then they should not take over the project. If they took over the project they should fulfill ALL of the rewards If they couldn't afford to do that they shouldn't have taken it over. It's as simple as that. ALL or nothing. I'm quite happy with nothing, I'd take the case up with RRG and kickstarter. You cannot leave out some of the backers because they pledged less than others. You're penalizing them for being poor? To take over the project and not fulfill all of the rewards you're penalizing folk for being fans. ED can pat themselves on their backs all they like, and get all the praise in the world from their loyal fans but folk are not getting what they pledged for. If some folk are happy with that, that's fine for them. Some folk are not happy with that and are getting attacked on the forums for voicing their dissatisfaction. Shame on the community
-
My point was The quoted text made sense to me. If ED couldn't fulfill RRGs project they shouldn't have taken it over. It's not that complicated. It seems to me that most folk in here will bend over and accept anything as long as they get to fly their WW2 planes in DCS world. Anyone that is perceived to have any dissatisfaction with the way things are going is attacked in this forum. "oh god shut him up, he's threatening the project, must be able to fly my precious"
-
You totally missed the point.
-
This makes sense to me. Just saying
-
I don't think so. Remember the last time that happened in 1990. A disgrace.
-
I'm not trying to be dramatic. I'm pointing out the realities as I see them right now. Folk are saying they're pretty much done with ed if they dint get to choose their 1 aircraft. Nobody wants the playerbase to drop. How many p51 keys have been sold? How many p51s do you see online in multiplayer? It's not rocket science. But I understand you're trying to be snide
-
There is a lot of talk about a failed kickstarter. The kickstarter was successful. There is a lot of talk about RRG going bust we don't know that for sure. Luthier is gone we don't know why. There are many unanswered questions. Eople talk about the successful conclusion of this debacle thanks to ed but the animosity that not being able to chose the plane you want from the available flyables is going to put some folk off the project. Yes we all want the project to succeed but what good is the project when a lot of the backers are turned off and multiplayer servers are empty?
-
How long is the "Copy of any DCS product" valid for? Does it have a time limit? The reason I ask is the only module I'm interested in right now is the VEAO A-4 that could be way off in the future
-
The whole legal argument can only be answered with the answer to the following questions Were ED involved from the start? What happened to luthier? Fired or resigned? If he was fired who was really in charge? Those answers are not going to be offered up. How soon will we get any info on the SDK? I really hope ED reconsider giving the lower backers the choice of aircraft. It's the major gripe and would go a very long way in public relations.
-
These kinds of threads are why flight Sims will never be mainstream. Everybody has read a book somewhere and has taken it as gospel.
-
The only people who know what happened to RRG is RRG and ED. None of us mere mortals know if they went bust or WTH happened. We do know that some of the guys who worked for RRG now work for ED. I don't think it was a matter of finances. As has been stated before "The vast majority of funds needed to finance this project have and will continue to come from Eagle Dynamics (not Kickstarter)"
-
I don't think anyone is busting out pitchforks and torches. I feel there is not a lot of information at the moment. We've been told that Ed are currently working out what parts of the Kickstarter they can fulfill and Ed are taking a loss. Will DCS WW2 be a separate install? If not whats the point of choosing The DCS world 190 as well as the DCS WW2 190 in ones "rewards" if they're the same thing? Same with the P-51, which I already purchased. I don't care for t-shirts or alpha access or posters and like most the manuals I can live without. I backed the project because I wanted it to succeed. There were a lot of promises in the kickstarter not just the aircraft and map. There was a multiplayer aspect, there were campaigns for each aircraft. The SDK etc etc There are a LOT of things that are being discussed by ED at the moment. Folk are on tender hooks for the July update and hopefully some answers to what ED can actually fulfill. Personally I thought a monthly update at such a crucial and surprising time as ED taking over wasn't enough. A monthly update is fine when the project is up and running but when the project changes hands and there are ambiguous statements like ED will look into the rewards and see what can be done. There are bound to be worried folk.
-
Honestly right now I wish they'd just refund everybody's pledge. If folk want the Dora they can pay for it. I'm sure if folk really want the aircraft they'll pay for them. I personally was only interested in the sputfire and p47. Plus the SDK which reading the signs isn't gojbg to happen. I'd rather my $160 be returned.
-
That doesn't sound good at all. Is that even legal? I mean I could start a kickstarter promising A,B and C. And have no intention of producing B and C. Then when I receive the money I hand the project over to a 'partner' who says sorry I can't deliver what the other guy promised so here is A. You should thank me because you could have ended up with nothing.
