  1. Two updates and this refuelling issue (ai wont refuel either) is still not fixed? :-(
  2. Sounds like you don't have the right frequency tuned in. Check the tanker's frequency and make sure you're on the same to be able to communicate with it.
  3. Most probably this http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=106975 Edit: nevermind, didn't see you flamed out at 7 to 10k ft... Don't think they're are any birds up that high?
  4. omghauwja61#[£|%helpineednewpants! :D :D :D
  5. Hi guys, Silly question though is this pit for DCS A-10? For some reason I've always thought Ricardo's beautifuk pits were for FC series and not the DCS series... If for DCS, omghauwja61#[£|%helpineednewpants!
  6. You've missed all the apex!
  7. Bird strike. Some say the damage is over exaggerated in this game so have turned it down to 0%. Apparently bird strikes shouldn't be catostrophic like that... I'd argue that if they're going to implement bird strikes, they should at least model the little buggers including feathers bloods and guts :D
  8. So it wasn't just me... You can see the bomb drop then detonate at HOF but that's it. No chutes, skeets or explosions. I thought it was me and left it at that.
  9. 1. I'd say go straight into DCS. If DCS is your goal then you may as well jump into the deep and experience it from the get go. 2. As per point 1. Just skip the 'training wheels' and go for it. 4. I have a THWH and TIR. I only touch the keyboard to pause, change views and radios. Everything else is via the hotas and mouse. I believe installing TARS will allow you to operate the radio via voice commands.
  10. One thing about this sim is the more effort you put in, the more rewarding it is. almost drug like. So far I've sunk about 60 hours into the A-10 and have only skimmed the very basics (cold start, navigation, air refueling, jtac, weapon release etc) but strangely enough have not gotten bored one bit. Before this I didn't know what DCS was. So to answer your question, it's not hard to learn however due to the high detail in which almost all systems of the real A-10 is simulated, you will need to put aside quite a bit of time before you can even do a basic combat mission. However as stated above, once completed, damn its an amazing feeling. One word of warning however, you may get into trouble from your Director of Finance (wife, girlfriend, partner) for spending a wee bit as you build up your 'cockpit'... Thrustmaster Warthog, rudders, track ir, thrustmaster mfds, etc just to name a few. Of course you don't need to get those exact devices but all the better if you can. Get it.
  11. Applying the increase HUD font mod then play with the right ctrl+shift and * / keys worked pretty well for me.
  12. Really disappointing some of you. Way to show respect and appreciation to a person who's only intention is to help a community with nothing in return as payment. Congratulations. You may have just succeeded to put off anyone else in future who was thinking of doing the same, crew chief or pilot or anyone else in the know for that matter. Shame that it only takes a small handful to totally ruin it for everyone else (think the CCIP delivery book that was released a while ago). It's really simple. Attend the session if you think it would benefit you. Don't attend if you think it would not. If you think you know everything already then good for you. Perhaps you should hold a session or two for us noobs who aren't in the know how?
  13. I'm pretty sure it's a bug. Until they fix it, just let the tanker eat some 30mm if it won't give you anymore fuel.
  14. Silly question but there's no hidden 'trip computer' like modern day cars that tells you distance or time to empty is there? Or is it all done in one's head with a bit of maths?
  15. Just a thought, tuned into the right frequency?
  16. I refuel OK though AI just wont latch on. They'll instead fly about 1 click behind and 20 knots slower than the tanker, ultimately running out of juice and ejecting...
  17. Another bug that can be replicated - changing number of units carried in the mission planner on a pylon eg go from 3 AGM65 to 1. The picture will still illustrate 3 though the weight does reduce accordingly. Going back out then in will correct this.
  18. So it wasn't just me? Told my guy to hit the tanker last night and he acknowledged but flew about a click behind at about 20 knots slower. He eventually ran out of fuel and ejected
  19. Congrats! Seeing as you have TIR, don't forget to remap the trim hatswitch on the stick to trim as default are view pan. I also mapped zoom to the throttle slider. Have fun!
  20. Thanks for the quick response and no offense taken. I've read and re-read your readme a few times but maybe I need to read it again! ... Or leave it for tomorrow as it just ticked over 12am here. Appreciate all the work. Cheers UPDATE: Have got this mod to work right after re-reading your readme and readjusting my views. Absolutely fantastic. Thanks again!
  21. Hi Peter, Thank you kindly for these updates. Like them a lot more than your previous mod though I find myself having to move my seat now which is no problem. I've changed the default view to include the MFCDs as its too difficult having to glance down all the time, and in doing so have had to move the seat all the way UP to ensure the HUD is still centered. However each time I start a new mission, it zooms me all the way out though still keeps the same angles so I just have to zoom back in. Question: A) Can the seat height be edited/saved? B) Any ideas on why i get zoomed all the way out despite already setting and saving the new default views? Thanks again for your work!
  22. Agree, only one TMWH. And the cables are not detachable, you'll also need two USB slots as they're separate controllers.
  23. I haven't been able to check FPS as I use an apple keyboard on my pc, but does it really have that much of a hit on resources? Ps any other way of binding the FPS counter to another key as I don't have "print screen".
  24. Here's what I do when i fly with my usual loadout (AIM-9*2, Litening Pod, ALQ-131, AGM-65*2 or 4, some sort of bombs*2 or 4) using a TMWH: * takeoff * trim up and left a few clicks * then trim pitch only as per speed * engage autopilot (don't touch trim) * fire a weapon * trim left or right to compensate weight distribution * reset trim to land Works for me and don't care what anyone else does :pilotfly:
  25. I have the same hardware... Give this a go. - download this track ir profile http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/250466/ - add 21 curve to the joystick's x/y axis. -reattempt AAR The above made a massive difference for me and now I really enjoy AAR. The track ir profile reduces the constant head movements which while the default profiles are a bit more fluid, can make it quite difficult. The curves to the joystick lowers the stick's sensitivity enough around the centre to reduce over-correction. Hope that helps.
