Did a couple sorties in multiplayer today after a long time away from the WW2 modules. Flew on the LFDM server and had a good time. Now, technical accuracy is great in DCS, but the choice of planeset that we have in our sim is pretty lopsided. I'm excited to get back into WW2 stuff with the new DM, but also concerned. Still no P-51 with 72" Hg. Spitfire IX is like two or three years behind the 109K-4 and 190D-9. The 190A-8 was a good addition, but expecting people to downgrade isn't going to work. Is it going to be years and years before we have a competitive lineup?

Sure, but I can't fathom why we're getting a Dover map. Sorry for being ungrateful, but come on.

Just include some of the North Sea. The map should fit the aircraft.

Ukraine Boeing 737 with at least 160 aboard crashes

The Iranians blame the United States for the accident because of the heightened tensions. -
Dont think so. It is nothing like the original release now.

I love that there is a coop option. Looking forward to it!

Used to be the Mig-21, but that became easier to handle over many patches. Now I'd say it's the Spitfire. If you don't grease it in very close to stall speed you will ground loop every time.

Our intelligence professionals are not politicians. I think educated people all over the world understand that. -
Thanks, this was exactly the same pot that controls the antenna elevation. I bought a few from Mauser Electronics, replaced the pot, and the problem was still there! Turns out there was a brown wire in the base of the joystick that somehow severed. The brown wire is not connected to the antenna pot in any way, but contacting its ends steadies the output from the pot. Will edit the thread title with the solution in case anyone else has this problem in the future.

I've done lots of duels with the F-16 in the other sim against the best opponent could think of (no joke). In every case the fuel load played a big role in determining the winner. The pilot with the lighter fuel load had a distinct advantage (until he went dry!). Both of these modules are in early access, and whatever errors there are in the final release will have a smaller effect than your fuel load going into a duel.

It makes me very happy that you have no problem with sharing that. Other developers just go radio silent when something goes awry. I love your progress on the F-16 and I am sure it will be worth the wait.

Another +1 This is way overdue. Multiplayer is ridiculous in this game because of all the blue on blue setups. The Mig-29 is one of the most exported fighters worldwide. No excuses about military secrecy.

It spikes like crazy and it doesn't respond. Seems to hover around the midpoint no matter the input and dances around. Thanks for the good feedback everyone to my open ended question. This is why I came here and just asked people who know way more than me.

I've done some light soldering before and fixed my msffb2. I'll see what I can do first I guess. That Virpil is a fine product but way overkill for what I need. I don't want to take my hand off the throttle for additional switches and knobs.

The antenna elevation pot of this cheapo $70 TM TWCS throttle died in less than 2 years. What's a good replacement that also has an antenna elevation knob? It looks a CH throttle doesn't. It's not implement correctly on the F-16 at the moment, but I know it will be in the future. Anything other than TM.:joystick: -------------------------- Solved. It was not the pot that went bad. A brown wire severed in the base of the throttle. Soldering the ends back together fixes the output from the pot. This looks like a design flaw where the wires are put under repeated stress at one point through throttle motion.

I want! No website or anything in the OP? -
Web GUI always fails to connect for me. I used a port check and it says 8088 is open. Do these timeouts along the way to eagle.ru explain why?

Obligatory A-8 Dog Fight Speculation Thread
gavagai replied to Strong05's topic in DCS: Fw 190 A-8 Anton
Late to the party, but... A better power:weight ratio is always going to win in a zoom climb compared to the extra kinetic energy of more mass. The 109K-4 is a good example of this principle. The idea that more mass improves BnZ capability needs to die. -
This is the module I've been waiting for since... forever. I wish it had come before the F/A-18, too (bring on the hate).

I will reluctantly repeat the advice you've seen here. Upgrading my GPU was a much larger performance gain than upgrading my CPU and ram (for DCS, other applications will vary). Your CPU is ancient, but it still has legs (it's a sandy bridge, after all). It's like a professional athlete in his mid thirties. P.S. the 24" display should be upgraded with the GPU. You will be astounded.

And it is the best theater of operations of WW2 for flight sims. It is mid-war mostly, so the sides are pretty well matched. It has mountains, coastline, shipping lanes, relatively short flying distances, and on and on.

Nice to see some common sense. The whole point of advancing aircraft design is to reduce the influence of relative pilot skill in determining outcomes. Pilot training is great, but it's even better when your rookie can beat the enemy's best because the rookie has a better weapon.

biggest gripes with flying offline

Oh, the AI definitely singles out the player. I've observed this dozens of times. As for shooting, the AI can snipe you beautifully head-on, but it has a hell of a time with a simple deflection shot from the rear-quarter.
