Yoyo, this is a problem that arises if you update to a new version without disabling the view distance mod. The game ist still looking for the long distance view settings, but they are gone since the game is updated, and that's why you're seeing this glitch. You need to reinstall the mod after the update. If you don't already, use JSGME to keep your mods organised.

Thanks, already had a bit of a snoop around... I was hoping there's something I've missed. It's like there's a file for every GUI element except the menu bar.

Opinion Poll - Projectors VS Monitors/TVs
Boris replied to Damalio's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I would say that with projectors you have a blurrier image that can make things harder to spot, but it may look nicer as you won't have any bezels to deal with. And you need a lot of space too... -
any one work with MS FF2 on Win 8.1
Boris replied to assafm25's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Did you also get the power cable with it? -
Hi, does anyone know where the file for the grey menu bar on the left of the DCS main page is located? I want to try and increase its size for 4k resolution.

SLI 970's at 3440x1440p - performance?
Boris replied to Buckeye's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Honestly, I know there was a huge shitstorm about it, but is that half a gig of memory even such a big deal? The GTX970 already comes pretty close to the 980 in terms of benchmark performance and even closer with a bit of overclocking. You get MUCH more bang for your buck with 2 970s. I have DCS running super smooth at 4k. -
I got mine yesterday and it's AWESOME! Compared to my previous 27" 1080p, this is an absolute beast. I was a little worried at first that 60hz isn't going to work for me until I found out you have to set the monitor to DP 1.2 in the settings. The difference playing DCS is night and day. First thing that you notice is the the DCS UI elements are too small for this kind of resolution! Having a trackir I always thought I don't need a large FOV, but it sure improves the immersion. Not only that, the pixel density needs to be seen to be believed. Even at this size the 4k resolution is extremely fine compared to my much smaller 1080p. I've turned the AA down to 2x to boost performance and the picture still looks 100% jaggy free.

Um... There's plenty of updates on the Mirage 2000 at the moment. It seems to be coming along very nicely and looks pretty advanced stage to me.

Try and get a used X52 or X52Pro. It's got enough functionality to cover anything you have to map but you can get it cheaply enough. The normal X52 pretty much has all the functionality of the Pro, but the pro looks cooler and has better spring tension. You'll also wnt some kind of head tracking solution. If you already have a good webcam you can try setting up freetrack or noIR.

40 inch 4K TV screen for DCS ?
Boris replied to m1tp2king's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The Philips BDM4065UC is your ONLY safe bet in regards to a large 4k PC display. So far it's the first and only made for PC panel of it's size and it's been getting pretty good reviews so far. I've got mine ordered, so l'm excited to see how it does... -
It's actually not that expensive if you choose B&W plus Softcover. Sure it's not quite as nice, but totally acceptable nonetheless.

I think "failure" and "attempt to salavage" is putting is pretty harshly. Ultimately everything is still being delivered, albeit not on the overly ambitious timetable that RRG initially set up. I very much suspect ED was planning to do a WW2 theatre at some stage anyway. ED already had the Mustang and the Dora was in late development. RRG just got the ball rolling early. If the goal was to get a WW2 environment in DCS World, then it's on track to being a success.

I'm having a similar problem where Aries crashes my Teamspeak. I have installed the program a number of times now with no success. I also took a lot of care to remove all traces of any former installs of Aries, TARS and Teamspeak. The problem I have, is that when I have the Aries plugin activated in Teamspeak and I log into a Teamspeak server, Teamspeak immediately crashes.

But just not loading the TGP isn't really the same is it... :P Why do you think nobody is going to make it? ED could make it with minimal resources and a good return.

I would love to see a high fidelity A-10A in DCS World. The Flaming Cliffs A-10A doesn't interest me because of the simplified systems. While I'm pretty well versed with the A-10C, I would love to have a chance to get to know the older version, for the challenge and to get to know the airframe better. The great thing is, is that to make a hi-fi A-10A, it would be much easier job than with any other aircraft. The external model, 6DOF cockpit, advanced flight model, sounds... it's all there. Even the majority of the systems are already modelled in the A-10C. It would mainly just be a case of making the cockpit switches clickable... OK, it's probably a bit more than that, but still relatively easy compared to converting any other FC3 plane or making one from scratch. What do you guys think?

Left handed stick recomendation please
Boris replied to imk's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
If you want any sense of realism, try flying right handed as others have said! And if you're getting something new, go with a good HOTAS. The ambidextrous sticks posted here aren't really an upgrade over a Cyborg, are they? -
As the Su-33 has already received a 6dof cockpit and has some flight model commonality with the Su-27, I would expect it to come out before the Mig-29.

in DCS world, may I give order to ground units?
Boris replied to bin801's topic in DCS: Combined Arms
You'll still need Combined Arms to do so... -
Thanks gavagai! A welcome change of pace from the "slower" servers.

Could it be that there are intercompatible versions?
-
Ah, it's finally gone! Good news :)
-
No, the whole point of version 1.2.12 is to support the Bf-109 K-4 module.
-
Back when ED took over the WW2 project, they made a tentative estimate for the Spitfire to be released December 2014. This is obviously no longer going to happen, seeing as the Bf-109 has only just been released. I did miss an update on it in this latest newsletter though. Wags wrote in October, that more staff will be moved to the Spitfire, once the Bf-109 is in beta. So I guess maybe we can hope for February.

Things always get delayed somewhat with DCS. Did you really expect any different??? :D This is much better than what most of the gaming industry does these days, which is to release half finished products. Nice! This is very encouraging... This makes it likely that we will eventually see all of the airports, airbases and airfields in the geographic area.

Ok, so to be clear, the module is will soon be available for non-beta DCS World?
