  1. Yeah it looks to be a completely new experimental kind of grass... Obviously not quite working yet :P Also, try enabling the clouds.lua Seems to be a completely new cloud system! It plays havok on my fps though...
  2. There is a grass.lua file in the config/effects folder... But i'm not sure what you might change to get denser grass and a longer view distance.
  3. The rotating clouds thing has been an issue in previous versions as well...
  4. Flying along at 55Mbits/s!!! Not long now...
  5. I seriously thought they're testing the in-game smoke!
  6. What's the real life situation on this anyway... to pilots ever fly with mirrors off?
  7. Hi Andre, thanks for your answer! How sure are you, and with which model? What's the difference between the models 901, 905 and 908 by the way? And which one would you recommend for DCS? And how do I get a hold of one in Europe?
  8. I would like to get myself one of these but I have a seat on which I have mounted my joystick. Would it be possible to cut out the front middle part of the device or are there essential parts or wires in the way?
  9. There are different layers of wind. You will get an automatic adjustment for the wind at the altitude that you drop the bomb at, but it won't adjust for any of the layers the bomb falls through. That's why you have to go through the steps as I described for maximum accuracy.
  10. Wind actually has a marked effect on the accuracy of dumb bombs. The LASTE system constantly corrects for the wind measured at your current location, but the bomb will fall though different wind layers with different properties. With the right correction it's possible to get pin-point accuracy with dumb bombs. Whether or not it's realistic to have such detailed wind information in real life, it works wonders in the sim. See this write-up I did a while back and check out the difference between the two tracks I posted: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=124711
  11. Boris

    He is comming?

  12. Seriously? I still see it as a big success! This thing is happening, even if it is sooner than later. Without the Kickstarter I don't think we would have had such a lineup of aircraft and a map in progress. No-one really believed Luthier's overly optimistic timeline. Delays are the norm with DCS, but in the end we get a product that is unparalleled. And that cash I parted with... I'm now getting all of the planned WW2 content at a fraction of the cost. I'm soooo glad I bought into this project.
  13. Wow, sounds like Mike Oldfield or something...
  14. Why would you buy an even better card if another GTX970 is cheaper? (OK, I guess you can sell the GTX970). The only thing better right now is the GTX980. Have you got your Philips yet?
  15. Noticed the same thing today...
  16. I think he means if the drop is targeted using the TGP. I'd say the FPS hit is worse because explosions are being rendered in the TGP.
  17. Ok, I've finally got the chance to test the monitor in its non-native resolution. The first time I tried to set DCS World to 1080p i got horrible red flickering. I then tried it with HDMI and it looks fine. So it seems non-native resolutions won't work with display port for some reason. The resolution in 1080p looks OK. It's not overwhelming though. I guess I'm too used to the 4k now. You'll need a lot of antialiasing to get rid of the jaggies, but at the 40" scale this still translates to a blurrier image. Not because the scaling is particularly blurry... The problem is the pixels are visibly quite large. However, this is a problem you're going to have with any large scale 1080p monitor. Overall it's a smoothe image though. Still, it's nothing compared to the fine pixel density at full resolution.
  18. This is almost certainly the problem. Just open the mission file with winrar and remove the config/view folder.
  19. Do you know which lua to edit and how? I'd like to make a small mod since I'm using a 4k screen. Your changes aren't overwritten by the way. Any edited files appear in backup folders in the DCS root directory after an update. Do you use JSGME? This would be the easiest way to keep your changes.
  20. Let's hope that this is a thing of the past with DCS 2.0!
  21. Is this because you don't have the horsepower to run 4k yet? I'll check it out for you when I get home today. I won't be able to show you a screenie though... I mean I can, but it won't be a representation of what's seen on screen. The screenshots will just be regular screenshots in 1080p.
  22. This isn't working for me even though I made 100% sure the file is in the right location... any idea why?
  23. Sure you didn't hit the emergency jettison lever? If you want to open the canopy the normal way, just use the hand crank below the right side of the canopy ;)
  24. I noticed that on some aircraft the ejected pilot is the wrong one. On the FW-190D for instance, the WW2 pilot morphs into a modern day US pilot once he jumps from the cockpit.
  25. You might want to get the A-10A instead, if you never want to go high fidelity.
