  1. I think the map in 1.5 is already the new format and the reason it's not merged with 2.0 and Nevada yet, is because Nevada is still in alpha.
  2. Try backing up and deleting the savegames\dcs\config\view folder That is of course, unless you have edits for other aircraft you'd like to keep.
  3. Not true unfortunately. I have an SSD and still have stuttering. It's an engine problem and not a hardware problem.
  4. Exactly... Sims just weren't really simulations in the golden age flight simming at the end of the 90s. Most were all round entertainment products with storylines and music. I started my combat simming when I was 10 years old with US Navy Fighters. I featured amazing graphics for the time, full motion video cutscenes and a Top Gun style vibe that was sure to resonate with many people. Most of the really popular sims such as the novalogic series were really just arcade games. The increasing realism of sims has caused an exponential learning curve and a requirement for ever more expensive hardware. You're not going to get the most out if DCS without a Hotas, pedals and a head tracking solution. I wouldn't want it any other way though.
  5. Really, dynamic campaigns is winning? I fail to see the appeal... Scripted campaigns are far more immersive. There are so many things listed that are far more important. Combat theatres to fit the aircraft for instance. Also, in depth ATC is far more fundamental to realism.
  6. Ah awesome, thanks!
  7. As the title says... Is this possible? It's a pain to have to click on every single module in the module manager and wait... especially if you own all of them.
  8. Well they did make a Black Shark profile, and the user base has surely grown since then...
  9. Is there any way to petition nvidia for this kind of thing? It's a little worrying that the profile hasn't been updated since DCS: Black Shark. It would be more than appropriate now with the release of the new engine.
  10. Also just noticed this problem yesterday...
  11. I also just had a CTD during the A-10C start up just after both enigines were running... Logs folder attached Logs.rar
  12. It's been happening to me too... thought I was the only one. Unfortunately I can't offer a reason as to why it might be happening.
  13. I've tested it multiple times and I can confirm that the explosion sounds work in the first mission I load, but any subsequent mission I load I cannot hear them. If I restart DCS, the first mission I load will have them working again. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with which mission I load. My logs folder is attached... Logs.rar
  14. Ok, but that doesn't mean there's no problem. Maybe this is a hardware issue?
  15. I've noticed all sorts of explosion sounds aren't playing. Funnily, the sounds work in the first mission I load, but not in any subsequent scenario I load. I've uploaded a track, but I'm not sure that anything can be learned from it. System specs: i7 4770k 2x GTX 970 4GB SLI 16GB RAM Sound Blaster Z PCIe internal sound card No explosion sounds.trk
  16. As I was annoyed with the menu wallpapers being stretched at my native 4k resolution, I decided to increase the size of the wallpapers. I also fixed the menu bar, that was too small for 4k screens. Should make the menu look much nicer for those with 4k monitors... Compatible with 1.5 Beta and backwards compatible with previous versions. I recommend installing this with JSGME. Download here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1481377/

  17. This really needs to be fixed I think. I've often come up against a Hind and lost. This should near unthinkable in a real life situation. Helicopters should more or less be sitting ducks.
  18. I'm now no longer getting flickering clouds! I'm running the latest 358.50 nvidia drivers. I disabled the black shark profile with nvidia inspector by removing the dcs.exe completely. Then I made a New profile for dcs.exe keeping all settings default except AFR2 under the SLI settings. I'm now getting no flickering clouds whatsoever. I only get about 70% GPU use out of both cards though... Not sure why it's not higher. Running 2x GTX 970 in SLI.
  19. I also noticed this...
  20. Unbelievable that such a simple thing hasn't been fixed in a release version yet...
  21. I'm using a sidewinder FFB2 and also have this issue...
  22. I'm also getting flickering clouds... Running 2x GTX 970 SLI
  23. While you don't have the recommended specs what you have still fits into the minimum requirements... What do you mean that you are set up with directx 9? Apparently your card is DX12 compatible. What kind of CPU are you running? In any case, you may be surprised that 1.5 runs even better than the current non-beta version, since the engine is more efficient at utilizing the available hardware.

    DCS 1.5 menu

+1 I too was a little surprised that 1.5 offers nothing in the way of scaling for 4k resolution. Aside from allowing menus to scale up and use the extra screen real estate, the in game comm menus could also really to with a scalable font to make it larger and readable.
  25. Only tried the clouds in the Ka-50 attack insurgents quick mission. Turned it off immediately after because of the massive fps hit.
