Historically, you've always had to invert the FFB with the Sidewinder to have it work properly. Not sure that this is still the case now. I have the Dora FFB working with default settings. A major problem since the move to the new engine is that force feedback settings aren't saved properly. Playing around with the settings while in mission will have you all over the place and will get you nowhere. Even if you have the behaviour where you want it, it'll be screwed up the next mission. You need to restart DCS after changing a setting. Best to change the setting in the main menu and then do a restart of DCS and see how you go.

I never entered any waypoints manually. The waypoints are from the mission editor. I've tested this with multiple missions including the navigation training mission that is supposed to teach the use of DT and DH modes. Can you confirm that DT mode works for you? If so, could you post a track of it working?
-
Is anyone else having trouble getting the DT mode to work? As it is now, no matter if I have DH, DT or middle position switched, the chopper will always act as if using DH when route mode is engaged. Bug?

Not that there would be anything wrong with that, if it were GAY

Bridge and overpass road color on Nevada map
Boris replied to Boris's topic in DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range
I had a quick look at the Las Vegas area in Google Earth and you're right, some bridges do seem to be made out of concrete and are a slightly lighter color than the roads. But then again, others aren't. The way it looks in the sim looks very strange I think. -

In the same way it wouldn't be a major bug if the sky were green :P -

2160p UI elements extremely small
Boris replied to SnorreSelmer's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
There's a mod that will change the text size here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=149832 Still, the screen text and the UI elements should really be made scalable for future releases. 4k resolution is becoming more and more common and us flight simmers especially will be early adopters. -
Zoomview of Throttle Slider Not Equal to Default (num5) Zoom
Boris replied to StrongHarm's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Just adjust the center in the axis settings. Very easy to do and easy to change and repeat to find the perfect Spot. -
Thanks for getting this organized Dojo! Input from a real A-10C pilot is invaluable. I look forward to hearing the podcast!

DCS 2.0 Nevada stutter help
Boris replied to gazmonalpha's topic in DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range
I can't see this being about system power. I have a 4770k overclocked to 4200, a 980 ti and 16gb of RAM. Quite a powerful system by anyone's measure, but I still get stuttering. I have my 60hz monitor running at a stable 78hz and get consistent fps in the 68 to 78 fps range. The stats all check out, but engine stutters all the same. It's better in 1.5 than it is in 2.0. I have none of these problems in other games. -
Do you guys still experience the lag after going to real full screen with alt-ENTER?
-
I have 16gb RAM and still have stuttering. Sure it might improve performance somewhat, but it's not the cure to stutters.

$9.99 Has no one seen the official update? http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2715334#post2715334 Great campaign... glad it's part of the official offering now! I'd like to know what the difference is between the official ED-approved version, and the last release from MapleFlag.

A commonly held myth - Wikipedia is quite reliable and on par with any serious publication according to many studies. In any case, other sites seem to confirm that the AH-64 is in fact capable of firing Mavericks: http://www.militaryfactory.com/munitions/detail.asp?munitions_id=Hughes-Raytheon-AGM65-Maverick Found no pictures of it but here's a Super Cobra firing a Maverick: http://www.army-technology.com/projects/supcobra/supcobra5.html

DCS World is the most realistic combat aviation simulator to date and it's only getting more realistic. The idea is to simulate the actual aircraft and systems and weapons as much as it is feasible in a virtual world. People take pride in learning to be a virtual combat pilot, learning the ins and outs of different systems, practicing even the most mundane aspects.... and have lots of fun while doing so. Therefore there is absolutely no reason why AAR should be any less realistic. I'm all for an improvement (like the boom operator AI), but dumbing the practice down goes directly against what DCS is about. AAR IS hard and that's the way I like it. I know it's been mentioned before, but I'd encourage anyone who hasn't to listen to the A-10 pilot interview that was posted a couple of months back. In it, he confirms that AAR is hard and even mentions he developed some nervousness about it.

Also works for me but have the flickering clouds issue... It's not much of a problem in cockpit but they continue to flicker in external views. Also, I see a slight light/dark flickering when panning my view. Anyone else getting this?

Flaps are very important. They effectively increase your wing size, giving you more lift and allowing you to stay in the air at slow speeds and preventing you from stalling and falling out of the sky. They also create drag and slow you down. On the A-10C, use the middle position for takeoff and the down position for landing. The flaps toggle is in the left side of the throttle quadrant, labelled "flaps" - You can't miss it. :smilewink: You got the Warthog throttle and stick, which is the best choice and shows you're serious about giving this a go. It mirrors all the controls as in the real thing, except for the trim (also very important) which you should reassign to the actual trim hat instead of the default view commands. I highly recommend reading the manual as much as you get the chance. It will explain the vast majority of what you need to know.

The brakes are quite simple. Press and hold down "w". Best thing is to assign a joystick button to the brakes or even better, if you're using pedals, use the brake axes. There's not much more to it than that. Just hold down the brakes and coordinate with rudder. It's actually easier to brake with just a button IMO as you don't have the differential between right and left.

I'd get the L-39, not just because it's a great aircraft, but because it also feels a little more at home in DCS World right now. The Sabre is great and it's fun to dogfight with the Mig-15, but it's missing some Korean War content that would make for some interesting campaigns.

Oh no, how sad... I flew with him a few times back when he was running the Rag Tag Air Corps. He seemed very engaged in bringing people together for a flight and was always very helpful on these forums. He'll surely be missed.

I too would love to see it fully modelled. I have little interest in the simplified avionics modules, but if the Su-25t, or even the older model, were fully done it would be one of my favourite aircraft.
