  1. I've been on the latest version since it came out and I've only had this problem for about 3 or 4 days...
  2. Hmmm, I thought it might be a problem with the master server... Are you sure? If this is the case I would have thought there would be more people here to complain about it. Restarting the game does nothing for me. I'm going to try installing DCS World on another computer later to see what happens there.
  3. In the last couple of days I've been having a problem that's getting worse and worse... The server list is getting shorter. While I can usually see about 150 servers, the list was about 45 a couple of days ago and now it's really slow to load and I only get about 10! I've checked my internet connection and everything else appears fine.
  4. I'm pretty sure you can no longer use any non-steam keys with steam because the steam guys no longer sync new keys. You're going to have to use BS2 with the non-steam version of DCS.
  5. If there's still any doubt about the landing behaviour of the Fw-190, here's a short extract from "Wings of the Luftwaffe" by Cpt. Eric Brown, who tested 55 captured German aircraft during the war: "The actual touch-down was a little tricky as the prefect three-point attitude was difficult to attain and anything less than perfect resulted in a reaction from the very non-resilient undercarriage and a decidedly bouncy arrival. If a three-pointer could be achieved, the landing run was short and the brakes could be applied harshly without fear of nosing over." He was referring to the Fw-190A in the text, but I'm sure the behaviour of the Dora was similar and is reflected well in the DCS simulation I think.
  6. I remember reading an anecdote that German pilots with insufficient training often crashed the Dora on landing. I can't find the source though... It may be hard to learn to land, but it isn't THAT hard to land. As long as you're at the right speed and attitude (it lands best on 3 wheels), it's a breeze.
  7. I just attempted a two wheel landing in the Dora. It's nowhere near as elegant as the landing in Yo-Yo's video, but it is still on two wheels. Looks a bit like the air show video landings. The important part is to keep your rate of descent as low as possible. I'm sure it would be even better to come in a little fast or lighten the fuel load. In any case, it's totally possible. Track below... Dora Landing.trk
  8. Jeez, that sounds like a nice solution, but I think I'm a bit out of my depth. I wouldn't know how to even begin soldering the wires to that board to make the buttons work. Is it doable for the complete lay-person?
  9. Of course you can edit the training missions. I'm at work now, and can't tell you exactly where they are, but they should be somewhere in the FW-190 D-9 folder. Just open the missions up, set the wind to 0 and save.
  10. I don't think this is the case. Taking off was always fine for me while landing is the challenge. I use 0% take off aids.
  11. Great video, thanks for posting!
  12. I think for people coming from jet aircraft it is a big readjustment to fly a tail dragger. The AOA on landing is much higher in the warbirds! When first attempting to land the Dora (I learned it before the Mustang) I tried to set her down on the main landing gear, keeping the tail wheel up in the air. If you come down like this, you are certain to be coming down way too hard. You have to get over not being able to look over the nose on landing, it's not going to happen. As long as you attempt a three point landing, it's going to work out. Keep the rate of descent as low a possible and the speed a tad higher just to be safe. After all this, I don't think it's difficult at all. Like riding a bike... That said, I don't really think that the Mustang or the Dora is particularly more difficult than the other. The main thing that screwed up my takeoffs at the start was forgetting to lock the tail wheel. Once that is done, just apply the right amount of rudder correction and you're set.
  13. While I get the fact that it's easier to see some gauges, I always thought it looks ridiculous having the empty seat. There is a hotkey to toggle the pilot, so that wouldn't really be an issue.
  14. I think Mustang's shader mod includes a fix for this: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=113374
  15. In any case it's always sooner than it was yesterday...
  16. Thanks for the help on the resistors guys! If I manage to find 1 Ohm resistors of the right size, I guess I'll go with the SMD's. I have another question though... I've been thinking about replacing the stick itself as well. I can't seem to find any nice buttons that I can add to the sidewinder stick, and in any case it's pretty small and doesn't offer much room for more buttons. Most of the stick replacements I've seen done use the circuit board of the replacement stick. Shouldn't it be possible to replace the stick with an 8 button, 1 hat stick and rewire the buttons to the corresponding parts on the Sidewinder board?
  17. If size is an issue, what's stopping me from using the old-school type resistors with the wires on the ends. That way I can just put the wires where I want them to go. Like this one... http://www.led-tech.de/de/Technik-und-Zubehoer/Widerstaende/Widerstand-1-Ohm-LT-191_29_33.html Or is this not the same thing?
  18. That alone is a major difference if you ask me! BS1 is an outdated piece of software, while BS2 benefits from the constant improvements made to DCS World.
  19. Great, now I'm hungry...
  20. Is this the right resistor? http://www.ebay.de/itm/311003209756?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
  21. Ah, the man himself! I'm a fairly quick learner I guess... I've soldered before, but it's a few years back now. I just need to know what to do exactly. I've forgotten all my electonic theory. I'm not too bothered about breaking it, but FFB 2s are harder and harder to come by. That being said, I won't be using it unless it's mounted to my seat, so this mod is a must for me! Would you be so kind as to give me a quick tutorial and a list of things I need?
  22. Because Russia, that's why.
  23. Ah! Well in that case, doesn't the unit filter make the game filter redundant? Or vice versa...
  24. Did this just happen in the last few minutes since you posted? Because those filters are in there...
  25. I have recently acquired an MS Sidewinder FFB2 on ebay and now want to do a similar conversion to my stick. However, I haven't done any kind of electronics work since high school. Is is possible for the realtive lay-person to do such a mod? I want to extend the stick, increase the ffb and perhaps reroute some buttons from the base to the stick. I guess the part that's most daunting is adding the resistors. The rest is just lengthening and rerouting cables right?
