  1. Maybe found them after 40 minutes of looking.... DCS World Two Five > CoreMods > aircraft > FA-18C > Liveries > FA-18C_hornet
  2. So I'm being dumb I know...but where is the .edm and the texture files for this? I can find the original F/A-18C but not the Lot 20. Can't check my textures. Thanks.
  3. Did I get some of them wrong? I kept getting confused as I went around them and they may be technically labelled different than in the A-10. I made some assumptions so I may have gotten them wrong or confused.
  4. Interesting and thanks for the insight. I had not fired up DCS is at least 12 hours but I suppose the earlier check had been within whatever window is set. Good to know for sure and I'll definitely remember to check for updates manually when I believe a new module is out. Thanks.
  5. You can't upload .pdf to the user files though, otherwise I wouldn't have zipped it. Thanks.
  6. Well said, neo. I've wondered about the peripheral areas in NTTR. I know they said areas further away from the main points of interest would be much less refined. It makes sense so I'm not really complaining because, like neo, I'm super happy with the new maps. It is a bit of a bummer trying to fly anywhere near the eastern or western edges of Nevada; however. It's kind of like, "Hey, I was at Bryce Canyon down there last year! Wait....it's....flat....and looks like water.....with small pyramids in it." So then I fly to the west. "Yeah, Death Valley! And Mount Whitney is over there. It's the tallest mountain in....wait....that can't be it. It's a brown hill." Anyway, no worries, I just fly around other parts of the map instead. Which kind of feels like a waste of space since the map is there but I don't care to fly over it. That being said, the maps offer a lot of great new areas to fly over regardless and I've been loving the Persian Gulf so far.
  7. I'm hesitant to give any advice because I stink at landing those. However, once upon a time I had pretty good practice and it seemed the key for me was to take it easy and not let it bounce. It just gets worse if it bounces so I had to bring it in easy and flare gently but authoritatively. That's all I could concentrate on really. I can't remember all the numbers and what not. But now I can't do that even because I never fly the bird.
  8. I believe that is the goal so we can easily place and orient them and know which way they're pointed. This makes me happy.
  9. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3300550/ I put together a help file for myself. It is mostly cockpit familiarization but also has a basic start up procedure and some other notes I took. Keep in mind it is very basic and probably has more than just the one error I know of at the moment. I hope it is helpful.
  10. I had that thought. Normally it auto-updates. I sort of wish their auto-updater would work consistently. I don't mind manually updating but it's a bit odd that sometimes it checks for updates and finds them and other times it acts like there are no updates. If it doesn't tell us there is an update the expectation is there isn't one. Oh well. I'll give that a try. I'm certain it will work. Thanks.
  11. I fired up DCS this morning thinking the Persian Gulf map would not be available yet. The window popped up saying it was available to install so clicked "OK". It started the install but when it started to run the installed (after the permission window) it says it can't find the file or the terrain. It then reloaded DCS World automatically. The window popped up again and I closed it then went into the Module Manager. The terrain was available there with an "INSTALL" button so I clicked that with the same results.
  12. I know this is old but I'm documenting the steps I'm taking to get this to work. I'll try to edit the post as I can. No offense to anyone who finds this kind of stuff simple, but it's not really simple and most of the "tutorials" I find on the internet (not just for this but for many things) are grossly inadequate to the user in most cases. Let me clarify, it is simple once you know where to look for things. It is simple if things load the way they should. However, in the case of many programs (especially those that aren't what I would call tier 1 programs with a well refined UI) it just isn't that simple. Again, I'm not trying to be overly critical I just want to try to help the person just getting into this who is getting tired of chasing file structure and getting partial guides to how to use this. Additionally to the new user, keep in mind that most tutorials no matter how well done are going to miss some things here and there or not account for some issues. You can usually dig in and figure out how to get by. Don't give up. 1. As Skate said, navigate to the proper folder for the Model Viewer application. Currently this is on the drive you installed DCS to \Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World Two Five\bin. Don't use Model Viewer 2 (at least for me it didn't work). If you don't know how to change the Start In right click your new shortcut, select "Properties", then find the "Start in:" field. However, this didn't seem to change anything for me. Make sure to just back out the \bin and leave the DCS version as is. 2. Run the application. 3. Be patient, it takes a moment to load. Once you see the blue screen and it is clear it is loaded you need to load your model. This is a part that can take you a while if you don't know where to look. Mine was pointed at a weird place that had no models in it. Go to File > Load Model or just hit CTL Oscar. \Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World Two Five\Bazar\World\Shapes (current location) EDIT: The F/A-18C Lot 20 model is actually in CoreMods>aircraft>FA-18C>Shapes 4. Look for the proper .EDM file. Select it and click "Open" 5. Wait for it to load. Once you see your model there navigate to View > Dialogs > Liveries Dialog. You'll load the air frame on the left and your livery on the right, then click "Load Livery". You will then have to close the dialog. EDIT: Most of these are in alphabetical order but some are not. If you're looking for the F/A-18C Lot 20 scroll way down towards the bottom and there are some stragglers. I wish there was another way to load a livery from a different location but I haven't found one yet. 6. Basic controls are as follows: Left mouse click and drag to pan Right mouse click and drag to zoom in and out That's all I have time for at the moment. It's getting late. But I'll try to pop in and update this as I have time and as I discover the argument manipulations.
  13. To answer my own question for those that might run into this, you just have to pretend your two smaller monitors are taller, or fool the computer into thinking they are. It takes some guess and check but I basically added something like 250 pixels to the height of my side monitors in the lua and also added that much to where the computer would "start" the screen in the upper, left corner. Basically it just works it out so the computer is making the image on each side monitor something like 1920 X 1330 or whatever and "trimming" the top 250 pixels off of each one. Like I said, guess and check, but it helps in case you have smaller monitors on the side.
  14. This may have been addressed already but I've been reading for a couple hours and don't find it. What if I want to move my two side monitors "up" so to speak? As in, what if my center monitor is a touch taller than my side monitors so I need to adjust the two sides so the picture moves up slightly? I'm currently working on bezel corrections and testing those but I thought I'd check. Center monitor is 27" and the sides are both 24". I meant to buy a 24 for my center but I goofed and ordered the bigger one.
  15. Sorry if this information is elsewhere, I searched but couldn't find it. I also don't exactly know where this type of question should be parked since it is a general, all module, all version question. When you go to an external view you still hear warning sounds like angle of attack warning beeps, sub minimum altitude warnings, bingo fuel, etc. It sort of ruins the ambiance of the external view. Is there a way to shut that off as an option? I thought it was the "sound like in helmet" option or whatever that was but I un-selected that and it didn't seem to change anything that I noticed. Am I just missing something easy or is that even an option? Thanks in advance!
  16. Yeah that's the other benefit of it. One file location for all your skins no matter how many versions of DCS you're running. Although now that 2.5 is working I shouldn't need multiple versions. I did try Skate's method last night and it worked beautifully. Including getting the F-86F Sabre skins working which I've never been able to do in the past no matter how many different ways I tried it.
  17. So it looks like there are still the same ways to install in 2.5 but I'm currently trying out this method which seems like it might work and be a good way to not have to worry about updating as much. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=174462
  18. I would also like to have some guidance on where to put the folders/files in 2.5. I remember struggling with certain modules in 1.5 due to them being put in different locations but I generally had luck with A-10C, UH-1H, and all the FC3 aircraft. I'm wanting to make some new ones in 2.5 but can't seem to find the right location.
  19. Can you pop a screenshot up on what you're seeing? Is it just blank? I've only used Photoshop briefly and I'm not good with it but I've worked with GIMP quite a lot. I'm working up the courage to try to do a better "how to" using GIMP that specifically shows the tricks I've learned regarding how to arrange layers and select bits to color. I'll see if I can help you work out the kinks with the UH1 skin if I can, but sometimes the file problems are over my head.
  20. It's a bummer that Gimp isn't working with the files the way we'd like. I really like Gimp. But this probably explains why I couldn't make car skins in Assetto Corsa either. EDIT: If anyone happens to adjust these so they work with Gimp let us know. I downloaded the PS trial but I just messed around with it for a little over half an hour and I don't think we're getting along. I'm not going to have time in the 7 day trial period to learn it and make any skins. Oh well. Thanks.

    LOL. That's awesome. :megalol:
  22. I don't have the module downloaded yet but in the pocket guide it discusses. Page 12. Default mode is Caster so it just swivels. When the Landing Gear handle down the NWS is controlled by the Anit-Skid switch and the toggle/pinky button on the HOTAS. With Anti-Skid "ON" caster mode is selected. With Anti-Skid set to NWS you will be in Lo Gain steering mode and the rudder pedals will be able to move ±14°. Pressing the pinky button on the HOTAS will bump the NWS system up to the next level; so from caster to LO and from LO to HI Gain. In HI GAIN you'll have ±45° travel with the rudder pedals. HI GAIN is undesirable over 20 KGS. Anti-Skid switch is located outboard and ahead of your Landing Gear Handle just a touch, aft/below the Emergency Jettison button. There is more to be said on the subject but I hope that helps.
  23. I did some searching but can't find any information on these. Anyone know where the interior gear door textures are located? I may be missing it but I don't see it on the main texture files anywhere. I've attached a picture to show what I'm referring to. Thanks.
  24. Ah, I knew I was doing something wrong. Thanks!
