So...funny story....the other night I was attempting to fly this again to get a track put up. I wanted to fly it as correctly as I could so I made sure that I hit every way point (had been doing that all along but I may have missed the last one - more on that in a moment). I took my time and flew as correctly as I could. When Wags told me to contact ATC I did so and started my approach as normal. However, there was a way point behind me. I had to circle back and pick it up. On a side note, I don't land correctly typically speaking. I come in a little steep and flare before contacting the runway. I've been trying to do more appropriate landings recently so that's what I was attempting on this mission; to hold the correct angle of attack and control my decent with throttle. Well, I descended a bit quickly this way and "landed" just short of the threshold. It didn't seem like a rough landing but my plane exploded. I quit in frustration and didn't save the track. But last night when getting back on to try again I was in mission 2. So this leads me to a lot of questions. Why is there a way point (presumably) behind me after I hit the way point that says to contact ATC? Maybe it isn't behind me. From the map escaner posted it doesn't appear that there is, but after Way Point 9 a mark was on my HUD that forced me to turn about 180° and fly for about 10 seconds or so before it cycled back to the airport. Either there was another way point or more likely the game made me THINK I hit WP9 but didn't cycle. Why isn't there some kind of indication to let someone know they passed a mission? I know this is supposed to be realistic but it is still a game and it's odd that the game didn't tell me that I got enough points to pass or whatever the mission requirements were. It's also odd that the 10 times I hit all but 1 way point (presumably) but still had all the radio messages play and landed and parked I didn't pass but when I got the last way point (presumably) and then crashed short of the runway I was successful. I'm getting mixed signals here! At any rate, if anyone is still struggling with this I would pay close attention to the WP marker on your HUD and just make sure you hit them all. For me, I got focused on the runway once I had clearance to land and just assumed my next WP was there when I had to turn around and grab another one for it to advance. I have no idea if it was a new WP (doesn't appear to be) or if it just didn't trigger WP9 when I flew through it. It seemed that WP 2 did the same thing to me early in the mission but I'm not sure. At that point I wasn't fixed on the runway so I noticed it.

Interesting. I've had Wags' messages come up at all the way points, was cleared to land, landed on the correct runway, and have never completed the mission. Do I have to STOP on the runway? If this is the case I think that should be changed. I've never stopped on the runway because it seems a runway should be cleared as soon as possible AND ATC directs you to nearest taxiway and to park. I'll try it but if that's the one thing I needed to do to get the points and complete the mission I'm going to be a bit peeved. Thanks for the tips. I'll try it and if it works I'll post back here.

I'm not sure the best way to submit this but I don't see a dedicated bug forum, and the last post in the FC3 bug thread suggested posting new bugs in appropriate sub forums. This has been reported by a few of us in another thread here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=128860 But I'm not sure if it is on anyone's radar so I'm posting a dedicated "bug" thread. It seems that many of us do not get the mission accomplished message at the end of mission and thus can't continue the campaign. I've attempted this mission at least 10 times. I've parked everywhere I can park and it just won't advance. I know it isn't happening to everyone but it certainly seems like it is happening to at least a few of us. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'd like to continue the campaign instead of being stuck in infinite familiarization flights. :pilotfly:

Nice prizes! I won't be racing because I don't have the time (or the skill to give it a solid effort) but I think this is a great idea and I love that there are prizes involved for those participating. Great prizes though! Good luck everyone.

I do want the MiG!

Anyone know what he records with? Looks so much better than FRAPS.

F-15 Bear Trap mission 1 - noob help
311Gryphon replied to chembleton's topic in F-15C for DCS World
Yeah, I love Bunyap's videos and find them enjoyable and informative usually. However, that video (or two) didn't really help. I managed to "land" off the runway several times and didn't get a mission complete. I've taxied to 8 different parking spots including the one I started in and that didn't help. I was hoping someone had found a definitive answer on this, but I guess I'll just avoid playing the F15C missions some more. Chonker, I'm glad you got it to work. I no longer have the patience to spend another half hour or so flying in a circle only to find that I still don't get to advance to mission 2. -
Nullsys, a lot of us struggle. Not that I'm that great at this game and I'm not a real pilot so I may be at a disadvantage (or maybe not) as well. However, this is a game and it isn't uber realistic even when compared to A10C, so don't worry. It is within your grasp and you may not need thousands upon thousands of hours to get to a point where it is enjoyable. The few things that have helped me greatly are: Understanding the radar system and how to manipulate it. Specifically, what the different modes do, how to move my TDC and bug targets, how to switch into TWS mode (I love TWS mode), etc. Understanding how to change PRF between High, Mid, and Interleaved. Also, knowing when to change it to High to pick up targets coming at me sooner. The sooner you see them the better. Understanding the warning radar and when to really worry and when not to. The part that I'm really lacking is good flying. I'm able to get a few kills here and there but some days are worse than others. At times I can get four or five kills without getting shot down and other times I lose track of a single target and suddenly he pops up behind me. So I think we all have good days and bad days. The beautiful part is that if we always have good days then the game is too easy for our skill level and it gets boring. Having some bad days is frustrating but gives us a goal to shoot for. Keep it up!

This is a great idea! This would be an easy question for me to investigate for myself but I'll ask it here. Is the template for the TF-51 the same as for the P-51? I have a Miss America skin that I made for the P-51 and it would be cool if I could drop it in the TF-51 liveries without editing it.

If it is still open I'd love to enter for a chance to get the 109. Thanks!

Wow. That went fast! Congratulations to the winners!

WOW, Hackepeter! That is an outstanding pencil drawing! Mine is not nearly so nice as that (and is blurry because I couldn't get a good scan and had to take a photo of it)....but.....I WANT A MiG 21!!!!!

Yes, sir! Happy Birthday Cichlidfan!

I posted this on the 104th Phoenix forums as well but wanted folks here to be able to see it if they wanted. Thanks to 104th Phoenix for this and good luck to all entries!

I want a Hawk!

First and foremost, thanks to xaoslaad, ells, and rajdary. Awesome contest and although I've avoided winning again it is always fun to enter a contest and hope that you get a cool, new module. Congratulations to the winners. Enjoy the Hawk! Finally, there are some impressive pictures in there and some great laughs as well. I'm especially impressed by anyone who managed to make a decent drawing in MS Paint. That program is torture for anything but cropping.

F-15 Bear Trap mission 1 - noob help
311Gryphon replied to chembleton's topic in F-15C for DCS World
I've had the same problem. I've flown this mission at least 10 times and no matter what I never get the "mission successful" message. This is the first mission in the F-15C campaign where you fly the FAM flight with Wags as your copilot. I also had an interesting bug the last time I flew it where he told me to contact ATC and land after the second waypoint. I didn't mind since the mission is kind of boring anyway, but I can't get past it. No fun flying a FAM flight repeatedly and not getting to move on. -
I'm totally in! That bird looks sweet! I'll add a drawing when I get some time. Thanks! EDIT: I've added my drawing. I drew the Hawk, Wags, and the little goofy symbol in the lower left corner, the background is photoshopped. Just in case anyone had questions.

This may be a dumb question, but what does everyone use Tacview for? I've heard of it, and it looks absolutely fascinating. Is it simply an analysis tool where you can look at the battlefield with wider view and more analytic data after the fact? Thanks.

DCS Livestreams and Youtubechannels (all modules)
311Gryphon replied to Schnarre Aggro's topic in Community News
Right on! 311Gryphon (I go by Sandman in game I suppose) Started in 2012 I believe with A-10C and P-51D, now have UH-1, F-86, and FC3 YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/311Gryphon/ I'm random, I started with a custom skin tutorial using GIMP and DXTBMP, have done a few videos on other games, a couple of "how to" videos for DCS, and the rest are fairly random. I don't have time for other social media like Facebook so no love there. I only speak English despite 10 hours of Japanese in college. -
Yup, I've never had this happen until last week. My last two replays have worked up to a point, then my plane just kind of points down into the ground and crashes. Other planes do not, but mine does. It usually takes a couple of minutes. This last one was interesting because my plane went through most of the start up process but for some reason the electronics were off (but they were already on when I originally flew it), it taxied properly, it took off properly, and for about two minutes it did exactly what I did when flying. Then it nosed down and never changed path after that.

Congratulations to the winners! Nice screens all around. Also, that MiG-21 into the sun was my personal favorite out the whole bunch (including mine).

Makes sense. Thanks! I like to fly around in AB because I have the option and I've been waiting for the chance to fly something in the sim that can get me over Mach 1 without a steep dive. But when I'm trying to fly seriously fuel conservation is a bit more important. The first time I got a "bingo fuel" warning and then a minute and a half later my engines shut off was a wake up call. I wish we could adjust the fuel quantity that we get the warning at, but at the same time keeping an eye on it and understanding that you don't have to be in AB all the time helps a ton.

Radar working differently in FC3 than FC2?

That makes a ton of sense! Thanks. Happy flying, everyone. :pilotfly:
