  1. Yes it is a slippery slope but it was handled well with the MiG-21 in my opinion Kh-66 Grom can quite simply be removed from the arsenal, as that from what i understand was not used on the Bis but the radar was able to guide it and the heater pipper is optional - the thing that changes position on the HUD to the position of the enemy aircraft with a heater lock. I would never support radar guided missiles on an AJS as an extreme example but this to me is basicly a minor field mod to the rocket pod system, nothing drastic. The AGM-65B was never operated by the SwAF either, but for gameplay reasons they will be included and yeah Schmidtfire i'm sure we will have the opportunity to continue this discussion somewhere else. On topic yes, the rocket smoke look awesome in that video and i will keep patiently waiting for the Viggen. When this beast comes out im afraid most of my other planes will be gathering dust.
  2. I know the doctrine of the Viggen well, and as i specifically said in my post: It is just my opinion and i understand where the purists (aka you) are coming from. I play DCS to have fun just as much as i play it for for realism and it was my opinion that the Viggen would be much more fun with shorter salvos. I mean, it is not like it is outside the realms of possibility. It should actually be a fairly minor modification to the wiring to be able to do that, it's not like i am asking to have AMRAAM's on a AJS 37. I also am of the strong opinion that it should be 1. Optional 2. Turned OFF by default. I would love to embrace the doctrine of the Viggen in organised events or major PVP events such as blue flag, but in the other style more "relaxed" servers such as 104th (moving mud on that is basicly having the secret service as your bodyguard, no enemy fighters can come close) and open conflict i will loiter with the aircraft. I am a filthy casual, i know ;P
  3. I agree but there is already numerous unrealistic options in the game. All WW2 Planes? (Auto Rudder) Ka-50, Mi-8, UH-1 (Rudder Trim) MiG-21 (Simplified Engine Managment, Unrealistic ASP IR A-A Missile Reticle)
  4. o.O That is awesome. I assume it will be optional (kinda like the unrealistic heater pipper for the MiG-21?).
  5. This is one of the very few times i actually think that gameplay should go over realism, short salvo mode for the rocket pods would be very useful in DCS while full salvo mode is likely to make me choose other options for the air to ground role as wasting 2 full pods on a single target (10-12? rockets) when most targets would require 1/3rd of that. DCS is all about sniping due to well fragmentation not being amazingly represented. That is just my opinion however, i can totally see why people want the purist way too.
  6. Edit: Seems like the 530's aren't working properly as i've fired many in perfect launch conditions wiht misses. As far as i know i am in STT.
  7. Thanks for ze clarifications Cobra.
  8. Yeah what mattebubben said, that reply is not about the avatar.
  9. Yay, thanks!
  10. Yeah i know, i might have but if one of them would be included the logical choice would be the Viggen due to (external) commonality and probably at least some other commonality. I am (guessing) that it would be easier for them to make an AI J 37 then it would be an J 35. The J 35 also shares weapons with the AJS however. I am not saying that the Draken wouldn't make sense as an AI unit as i personally saw them in service in the 90s but i also kinda doubt Cobra would try to build up hype for an AI unit. All previous hints were related to full modules (F-14, AJS 37 & F4U-1D) why would the behaviour change now? Edit: I actually don't agree with my own "A draken would likely only come as a full module." statement anymore, you're right about that one.
  11. Possible but a bit of a stretch, the JA 37 would make much more sense and is relativly similar to the Viggen externally. A draken would likely only come as a full module.
  12. Well, the movie contains a Dragon aka Draken aka J 35 Draken. That would be my guess. (And also wish, as i'd love more SAABs in the game)
  13. Yep, same problem. It was never a part of my startup due to it being on. Will be now however.
  14. Thanks for the links, i don't really think videos from a mod (although a quite nice mod) for Strike Fighters 2: Europe is that relevant tho, there is no telling how realistic the behaviour of the weaponry were made by the mod makers.

  16. IFF Coming! Yay!
  17. Thanks alot for clarifying Cobra!
  18. Let me rephrase then, cities with a fair amount of buildings which would take considerable effort to put into the sim. All fairly large cities on that map will surely be larger then all urban centers on Nevada. Sweden: Karlskrona, Växsjö, Kalmar, Linköpig, Visby, Norrköping. Poland, Kalinigrad & Baltics: Gdynia, Gdansk, Kalinigrad, Klaipeda, Liepaja, Ventspils. (On mattebubben version) Kalinigrad isn't meant for the Viggens to attack but rather the Soviets/Russians to operate form. And why would that place be uninteresting? It is essentially a military enclave IRL.
  19. I do agree with your comparisons to Las Vegas etc Mattebubben but they have described their theatres as "small" on several occasions, leading me to believe they will not be Caucausus/NTTR Size. I also do agree with having a larger map with lower fidelity then a small one with high fidelity.
  20. That map includes many large cities, i highly doubt we will see anything of that magnitude. Don't get me wrong i would love it, but i don't find it realistic. Cut out all of Sweden and leave only Gotland, cut out all of Poland and parts of Kalinigrad then maybe. I added a map to show what i think we could get if we are lucky.
  21. Fortifikationsverket, Didn't even know they existed nowadays? Cool documents. Guess they don't have much fortfications to administer anymore :)
  22. Yeah sorry for the off topic, looking forward to flying a stuka at some point :)
  23. Im not sure if you are a single player only type guy or also play multiplayer but something like that would be nothing but a detriment to the multiplayer community. Every time you make something that divides the community is going to create one of two things. 1. Nobody uses the content, the people that bought it and primarily play multiplayer have no real use for it. 2. A section of the community uses it, the people that bought it have a use for it but overall it fractures the community onto more servers lowering player counts. And both are ofcourse detrimental to the multiplayer community, so no personally i would not want anything like that as a MP only player.
  24. "How do you start this thing?"
  25. I may very well be wrong here, but wasn't the Rb 75 the AGM-65B? Edit: Looking at a book i have, the Rb 75 is described as the AGM-65A/B so it's likely we used both at one point or another.
