  1. What im curious about is actually as boring as the dumb bomb arsenal. I know that in RL they basicly exclusivly used 120 kg m/61 fragmentation and flare bombs, but i also could imagine that the Viggen could carry other bombs such as 250 kg m/50 and 500 kg m/56 bombs carried on the A 32A Lansen (predecessor of Viggen). These bombs would have very likely been stockpiled and kept in reserve due to the whole mindset in the SwAF at the time. I am by no means an aircraft expert, as this is more of a hobby then anything else but shouldn't dumb bombs be easily interchangable as the wiring would be the same?
  2. Not really, you could make a "floating" TV screen in that area that you can turn off and on with a button. Thats basicly what RL pilots would see.
  3. Mirage 2000 is made by Razbam Simulations, not Leatherneck Simulations.
  4. I would love to get my hands on that book, is that a Tu-16 Badger?
  5. Yeah becouse being neutral helped Belgium ALOT during the world wars. :music_whistling: U-137 "Whiskey on the rocks" incident extracts
  6. I don't get the "its not realistic" mindset. Isn't that the whole point with you playing a simulator? Being able to simulate stuff that didn't happen IRL? Being able to bomb targets and engage in aerial duels without the risk of losing your own life? If you look at all DCS missions vanilla and user made would even 1 % be considered realistic? Will even the upcoming Red Flag missions be realistic as they won't use dummy weapons etc? It is a flawed argument. If the Viggen isn't your thing, thats fine but bashing it for the sole reason that it doesn't fit in makes no sense especially since we will get a small theater and AI units to support it.
  7. I'll just leave this here :smartass:
  8. Not known, but Gotland is the most logical choice. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gotland
  9. I kinda would agree with you, expect the fact that Leatherneck has said that they will include AI units including ground units with any plane that feels "out of place" :smilewink:
  10. I would agree that the MiG-23 is just as good an enemy as the MiG-21Bis, but i'm going off the fact that alot of bases in present day Baltic States, Kalinigrad, E. Germany and Poland used MiG-21Bis and other MiG-21 airframes like MiG-21PFM in the timeframe where the AJ 37, SH 37 and JA 37 were in service. In pure capability i'd say the JA 37 and the MiG-23 is the perfect match, MiG-23 would have an advantage over an AJ or SH 37. Just in pure encountering chance, Viggen pilots were much more likely to see a MiG-21 then a MiG-23 over the Baltic. :pilotfly:
  11. I'm very happy, my favourite plane of all time will be made for DCS. I saw it in the skies all the time growing up, so i am ofcourse biased but read below if you're unsure about it. I really do think that even if the plane is an obscure, unknown plane for most people it will grow in popularity as they realise it's a quite neat airframe with some neat capabilities. Especially if the BK-90 is included, but thats ofcourse a big if. Reasons? It's bound to be the first in DCS in all these areas. First dedicated supersonic strike aircraft. First supersonic maverick user. First aircraft with ground mapping radar. First aircraft with anti-ship missile capability. First aircraft with stand-off weaponry, if BK-90 is included. First aircraft with STOL capability. "Fast & Low" design philosophy, built to perform well on low altitude. Also it is a proper enemy for the MiG-21Bis, they flew in the same areas during the same eras intercepting eachother a lot! The Baltic Sea during the cold war was an extremly active intercept zone. It also has similar air-to-air capabilities to it despite being an strike aircraft.
  12. The AJS-37 should be able to carry 6 AIM-9L's, which shoiuld be fairly close to R-3S/R-3R in performance? As R-3's are essentially just reverse engineered AIM-9's? With a very powerful engine even the attack Viggen should have a decent chance in a fight against it.
  13. If it has WW2 carrier operation, it's a must buy. If not then its just on a long list of WW2 planes to buy when DCS WW2 becomes more fleshed out. Great day for fans of american WW2 Naval Aviation however!
  14. AJS-37 Viggen :thumbup::thumbup: If BK-90 is included its not just a cluster bomb, its a stand-off cluster bomb. - Wikipedia It would be the leastl likely weapon to be featured in the module imo, however.
  15. So anybody that owns the C-101 can confirm or deny multi-crew working?
  16. Yep. Super glue sabotage!
  17. Hello, i just thought that it would be an amazing feature if you could give mission editor the option to add an "undefined plane" to a parking spot, which would allow the clients to pick what plane to spawn on that location from their owned modules.
  18. Great work man :-)
  19. Nice work!
  20. Yeah i would imagine that they would operate very simiilarly, but if you don't have any information on it im guessing it will not be implemented? Can't wait to fly it in Swedish colours with or without TOW's. What i do know about it is this: Two Swedish museums have them on display with HeliTOW system's attached to them. That would be Aeroseum in Gothenburg and Flygvapenmuseum in Linköping (that one is suspended from the roof however) I would assume the missiles themselves are dummys (duh) but i wouldn't be suprised if all the guidance equipment was still intact and they more then likely have manuals too. Flygvapenmuseum (Swedish Air Force Museum) should also have a few more examples stockpiled and not on display. http://www.aeroseum.se/ http://www.flygvapenmuseum.se/ I could not find any resources for manuals on the helicopter or the weapon system itself anywhere on the internet but i did find some half decent reference photos from the late 90s. http://www.ipmsstockholm.se/home/22581/
  21. That looks excellent! That is Heli-TOW mountings on the side i think? Are you actually considering implementing that weapon system as well? / Implementing the Hkp 9 as a variant in the module? If so, im gonna have to buy it as its the only offensive capable helicopter Sweden ever operated. :joystick:
  22. Well its not really a prey if you're flying Mach 2.5 at altitude. If you fly it right you would be very hard to kill, but would also be really hard to kill anything with it.
  23. I would love a Foxbat, but i dont see it being made anytime soon due to it being such a one-trick pony, essentially only one type of missile on it from what i understand. R-40 and no gun.
  24. Double post, o.O
  25. To summarise, three planes that do fit the hints that are modern and that is NOT the Viggen are the Panavia Tornado, the Harrier of various configurations and the Yak-38. And that the bvelieved propeller plane are likely to be F4U Corsair or F4F Wildcat with Wildcat not being very likely as of now due to it being made by VEAO? I would love a Tornado in DCS, so kewl!
