90 is a great curse speed. Military used that a lot. Depending on how it is configured the VNE can be 108 KIAS or lower. I say108 KIAS because that's what comes up if u do a performance planing card on a standard day with combat load. In Vietnam u would see 80 KIAS a lot, more effect from environmental factors, and it allowed Huey gunships to keep up. I am sure people will argue with me because they fly the Huey flat and level at 125 with out looking at or understanding the TRQ, TGT or NG gauges. Note: 90 KIAS is also good because it makes math easy. 2/3 the distance equals the time it takes for you to get there. 60 miles x 2/3 = 40 minutes flight time. 120 knots use half the distance, for the flight time.

Addon Tents, Watchtower, UH-1-Cargo

Great Work! -
If you want to turn it on and off in game. LWin + H for the gunners or crew Hints. LCtrl + Lshift + H for weapons Hints.

so you haven't heard of hot start or even an engine that was melted, burnt or destroyed as a result of over temp? I agree with what you said about wear and malfunction, but it can also lead to catastrophic failure and fire.

Cargo not recognized in a triger condition.
GunfighterSIX replied to GunfighterSIX's topic in Bugs and Problems
IT started working for me last night, not sure if it got fixed last update or if i had done something wrong with the other triggers. Works now though. -
Cargo not recognized in a triger condition.
GunfighterSIX replied to GunfighterSIX's topic in Bugs and Problems
I will do some more testing before I re post it in the 1.2.8 beta forum. Thanks for your help. -
Thanks Airwar! That was driving me up the wall. You have to do that for hot start as well.
-
I can not get the cargo to be recognized by a tiger to complete an action. For example, Slinging loading a piece of cargo into a zone. Nether unit in zone, group in zone or part of group in zone will work. Trying to sling something into a zone to set a Flag.

1.2.8 Open Beta Preliminary Change Log
GunfighterSIX replied to upupandaway's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Internal cargo? We already have a trigger for internal load, could this be a working trigger for multi player?!? I would love to be able to add wight to aircraft in mulit player. Where is the work on the Mi-8? I would like to see crew guns. Everything else looks great! Can't wait. -
Mi - 8MTV/Mi - 17 AIRCRAFT CHECKLIST
GunfighterSIX replied to airwar's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
I Have been using the a mix of the US Air Force checklist, the one you posted and the US Army MI-17 check list. I find the Air force check list a little to detailed and wordy on simple checks like before take off. It seems to have all the detailed procedures built into the check list making it 88 pages long. I guess I am just used to the check list being abbreviated and not the whole chapter 8. They are both great resources though. -
Not sure if you can home on another player because you will have to set up a transmission in the mission editor. You can do this for AI, I just haven't tried on players yet. The radio you would use is the FM radio. It has homing ability, bottom right nob, turn to home. The other unit would have to transmit on the fm radio. Match your freq. Your course divination pointer point you in the direction of the source. Be warned it will point you at your target or 180 degrees. Page 88 of the UH-1h manual talks about FM homing. FM homing was mainly used for helping to track onto ground units, by using a long count or a short count. This is not used any more thanks to GPS. Pathfinder: First In, Last Out: A Memoir of Vietnam Great example: Read page 165 and 166.

Sorry for getting off topic but can you make a set of tanks for the MI-8?

Mission "Aurora" - Rooftop RPG issue
GunfighterSIX replied to Buznee's topic in Missions and Campaigns
We shoot them off roofs all the time in our missions, just make sure they are not set to invulnerable. Its when they get stuck in building that you have problems. -
If you hit the control stops or you are mast bumping and the aircraft is not on the ground, then it is to much. The game does not demonstration slopes very well.
-
The slope limits on the huye is probably around 8 degrees. Have to look it up. SOmetimes that limit is because of cyclic range. Meaning you cant displace the stick into the slope enough because the stick is all the way over. They are other limits to slopes, I am just naming one. And if it is a step slope like u show in the picture then u won't get into ground effect. There is noting under u to slow the flow of air through your rotor system. That is called induced flow. I am sure thats not modeled yet.

90% of that is incorrect. Only 1 trim system, the mi-8 has heading hold so you could take you feet of the pedals in a hover, but don't. SAS and trim are two different things and I think you guys are confusing some of the functions of both with the AFCS. Best just to read the manual or online description. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/products/magnificent_eight/?PAGEN_2=4#446370

Why do some helos take off from runways?
GunfighterSIX replied to McBlemmen's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
That's a great point about white outs and brown outs. No am not worried about fuel cost, I was talking more power margin. And why come to a fully stop when you can just add a little speed and left off? I would love to get some time in a S-92 and Super puma, actually most those aircraft you mentioned. Your a lucky man, unless you are flying to oil rigs, I am not really all about ocean flying. I think it's and Army thing. -

Why do some helos take off from runways?
GunfighterSIX replied to McBlemmen's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
I dont know about all that. Yes when I do a full rolling takeoff from a runway it is usually for practice, not weight issues. But there are a lot of other organizations out there that are flying heavy that need to do a little roll. Remember you only need to get to 16 to 20 knots to help you out. "ETL" Also if I am already taxing and my hover checks were completed on an earlier take off, I will just increase my roll and take off. It saves on the breaks and saves on the power and saves on time. I am not really trying to showing off, even though it looks cool. As for the the runway thing. At larger airports ATC usually keeps us away from the runways and from the main flow of traffic. Its just better for everyone. At smaller airports helicopter pilots might use the pattern for practice, but you will general find most helicopters avoid all that mess and come straight in if its safe. Especially if that helicopter is stationed at that airport. Most small airports runways wont support the weight of my helicopter so I have to land to the grass anyways. Every pilot has his way of doing things, every origination and airport has their own rules, so try not to assume we are doing something for just one reason. -
You dont need force feed back, they can just reduce the effects of the forces acting on the helicopter. For example they just wont put in a large TRQ effect. This will help to simulate the MMU's "Collective to Yaw" function with out needing to have force feed back. Keep in mind that the the MMU is also backed up by other systems that put input directly into the the rotor and not the flight controls, so force feed back is not needed there ether. The point is that there are a lot of work arounds to the MMU that will still allow for a realistic simulator.

A "Slick Huey" was a transport Huey and hey still had door guns. With the door guns you still need to have hard points on. The Medevac and civilian Huey's you can turn off the hard points. They still haven't fixed it where some Huey's in your mission can have hard points off while others have it on. This also removes flares and engine covers? They also haven't fixed how you see other aircraft in compared to how you see yourself in MP. You can be configured the same but other players aircraft will look different. Don't let this confuse you.

Good call, some EGT limits to pull from what little max trq available the Huey has would really help the realism out.
