  1. Where is the 20mm cannon? Good luck on your project, I look forward to seeing it. If you need help let me know, I am a 60 pilot. ${1}
  2. Thanks. Some add on objects are and some are not. Just wondering if some more of Rangers objects were fixed.
  3. Are these objects showing up in mulitplayer for people other than the host?
  4. Are you guys able to get the cargo to unhook? They put a fix in for the Huey, but not the mi8. Wanted to make sure it wasn't just me that is having cargo problems.
  5. The guns work for me. I did notice that I had to turn the guns on, on the panel on the left side. I don't remember having to do that before.
  6. It lets you click on the messages in multiplayer
  7. The Huey has a governor that controls the throttle/rotor RPM for you. Army training helicopters at the time did not have this, and you were required to manual control RPM. He might have been talking about those aircraft. There are some EP's (emergency procedures) with the Huey that require you to manual control the throttle, but for normal flight you leave it at 100%. This is from the UH-1h manual. "c. Power Controls (Throttles). Rotating the pilot or copilot twist grip-type throttle (fig 2-5) to the full open position allows the overspeed governor to maintain a constant rpm. Rotating the throttle toward the closed position will cause the rpm to be manually selected instead of automatically selected by the overspeed governor. Rotating the throttle to the fully closed position shuts off the fuel. An idle stop Is incorporated in the throttle to prevent inadvertent throttle closure. To bypass the idle detent press the IDLE REL switch and close the throttle. The IDLE REL switch is a momentary on, solenoid-operated switch. The IDLE REL switch is located on the pilot collective stick switch box. IDLE REL switch receives power from the 28 Vdc bus and is protected by a circuit breaker marked IDLE STOP REL. Friction can be induced in both throttles by rotating the pilot throttle function ring counterclockwise (fig 2-5). The ring is located on the upper end of the pilot throttle."
  8. In another forum you said it would be hard to carry 30 troops. But 22 guys on a 9,000 pinnacle is really impressive. You should have not problems carrying around 30 guys at low altitudes. Don't get me wrong, I am not hating on the MI8. It is on the top of my dream sheet of aircraft to fly. If someone offered me a job flying one tomorrow I would jump on it.
  9. The MI8 Maximum external sling load is 3000KG. That is a structural limit. That fact that on a good day it can only handle 8000lbs is kinda disappointing but understandable given how heavy the aircraft's normal empty weight is. Bad power to wight ratio. I believe the MTV5 has a higher capability. Last time I sling loaded a hmmwv is was light skinned and empty, and it was over 5000lbs. Normally we plain for them to be 6,000lbs. Not sure what you use a light skinned hmmwv on a battlefield for anymore these days. Our armored hmmwv's significantly heavier, around 10,000LBS and not in the sling load range of my aircraft. CH53 & ch47's are your heavy lifters. 20,000 to 30,000 lbs range. If you want to move armor I would say MI26. Just because a helicopter has the structural limit to lift something you need to remember that the environment is the biggest factor. Temp and altitude.
  10. the AN/AVS-6? If this what you are looking for I will take some pictures of my helmet when i go flying tonight. new batter pack http://thumbs1.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/m7tM2TyUEahbfae3TrwHO3Q.jpg http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTYwMFgxMjAw/z/pHEAAOSwrklVMKO6/$_1.JPG http://www.exelisinc.com/solutions/AN_AVS_6-Aviators-Night-Vision-Systems/Documents/Exelis-AN-AVS-6-Aviator-Night-Vision-System.pdf old pack http://i41.tinypic.com/351c0a8.jpg https://www.modarmory.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Anvis_6-9_bp-400x267.jpg If this what you are looking for I will take some pictures of my helmet when i go flying tonight.
  11. I have had this happen a few times. I think I fixed it by deleting the Views.lua in DCS World\Mods\aircraft\Mi-8MTV2. Then running the repair.
  12. Thanks for all the info AlphaOneSix! I don't have any manuals for versions older than MTV'S. And it's interesting learning about the progression of aircraft that have long service lifes, such as the Mi8.
  13. The main generators are turned by the transmission which is turned by the engines or the main rotor. If you have a dual engine failure you will not have a power loss unless you droop the rotor, because in an auto rotation the blades keep spinning. MI-17MTV manual 2-49 Transmission “Two AC generators, two rotortachgenerators, two hydraulic pumps, and an air compressor are mounted on and driven by the transmission.” 2-17 Engines “The rear output shafts of the engines are connected, via a uniball coupling, to the main transmission, which transmits power to the main rotor, AC generators, tail rotor, and accessories.” I hope the Russians were not stupid enough to build a variant with the generators running off the engines.
  14. If you pulled full collective for a climb in a real Huey, besides drooping the rotor, you would over trq the transmission and over temp and burn up the engine. In a Huey you would burn up the engine first, it can be burned up in seconds. But it does not take very long to destroy a transmission ether. Unfortunately, the DCS Huey does not have that kind of damage model on the transmission or engines. Their tgt gauge is not modeled correctly, and tgt limiting is not there. To the point if the map is set a 30+ degrees it takes significantly more trq to hover than the real aircraft and the tgt is a lot higher than it should be. After spending many hours going over the performance charts, I have found that they have been off as much as 7LBS of trq or 1400Lbs of aircraft weight. Don’t get me wrong, even though as a real helicopter pilot when I compare the performance charts to the DCS Huey it makes me cringe. Belsimtek has still made the two best non coaxial rotor helicopter simulators that I have ever seen.
  15. That is the way I do it. Make sure you are in the correct units. Ether NM or KM. For example, if the ruler distance is to large then you are using KM when you need NM. Also I subtract 6 degrees for magnetic variation when going from the measured Map angle to the heading I need to fly. Not sure if I explained this well enough.
  16. What do you mean? You can open and close all the doors and windows now.
  17. Vover power check should be done at 5 feet, not 2. the "Engine Resource" setting tab really effects your max power available not your hover trq. But after going through the charts and writing out a few performance planing cards for the Huey I found it is about 2 psi off or 400lbs.
  18. Its a known bug, they said the fixed it in open beta, should be released to the normal game soon.
  19. The AP has never kicked off for me for hard maneuvering, it has however kicked of because of poor power management. If you pull to much collective, droop the rotor, then you will kick off the generators and lose the AP. People make the mistake of yanking on the collective to much while combat maneuvering, and this will kill your AP. VNE for this aircraft is 135 KIAS or 250 KPH, you should not be seeing retreating blade stall until well after that (around 300 for me), but remember dissymmetry of lift is always happening once the aircraft starts moving and you will fell that more at the 250 range than the 100 kph range. People often confuse the difference between dissymmetry of lift & retreating blade stall.
  20. Looking into it, you can also find those commands keyboard.lua for each aircraft in your saved games
  21. TARS development was suspended a year ago. I did not see any new versions.
  22. Go to training missions and select the Huey. At the bottom of the training task window it should say install. Click that, and it will download some training missions.
  23. Right CTL + Enter will bring up your Control position indicators. That will help to show you if you have a lag in your in your Controls. I have never noticed one myself, I will take a closer look next time I fly.
