Then why buy pre-release modules? The choice is yours, and no one is forcing you to Beta test anything.
-
In fact it is out on 1.5.8 Beta only. Live now too!

Update has gone live.

Is the WWII assets pack a must have for Normandy?
NeilWillis replied to Gpruitt54's topic in DCS: WWII Assets Pack
Is this debate STILL going on? It was released as a separate package, so we have to pay for it. End of story. Do you need it - yes. People will pay $800 for a graphics card, but a few extra dollars for some software won't kill you. Alternatively, take up knitting, it's cheaper. -
2021 (and earlier) DCS Newsletter Discussion Thread
NeilWillis replied to NineLine's topic in DCS 2.9
Yes, me too. Two weeks would be ideal, one week even better! I'm trying to be realistic though, and just hoping that we'll see the merger before the end of the year. -
If it isn't (assuming it is released on 1.5.7 today) you can always use this: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2981468/

I'm going to start with an entirely fresh install when 2.5 comes along. It's the perfect moment to ditch all the mods and corruptions of the current installs. With a fresh install, it is wise to also ditch the saved games folders and begin completely from scratch. But that's just one way of approaching it. If you are updating, it will retain all your settings unless the new install means replacing them with a new set of code.

I'd check when you get up tomorrow morning. I'd say we have around 8 hours to go.
-
Voice attack is your friend. I just set it up to push F5 every 5 minutes - no wear and tear that way!

To eliminate software issues, have you tried re-naming your inputs and starting with a fresh file?

Nice videos, subscribed. Thanks.

NO server on server list???
NeilWillis replied to saburo_cz's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
There has been a day of maintenance today. We got the website back earlier in the day, but the multiplayer server side of things is still down. No word on when we'll get it back yet. -

He said in the COMING weeks, there was no mention of a couple! -
Just because you pay for something doesn't mean the guy behind the counter has no feelings. You might just see the wider picture if you stopped to think.

Why wouldn't you be grateful for the McDonalds worker serving you? Unless of course you think you're entitled to everything!

Indeed Simicro, there is a real issue with categorizing different platforms. It is possible to really tie yourself up in knots trying to reach a definitive answer. I guess the only real solution for a website is to cross reference items that fall in between two definitions. some1, the answer to the Microsoft Combat Fight Simulator is also very simple given the original purposing approach. It is an entirely different item of software, and was designed from the outset as a combat simulation, so I don't get the point you were trying to make?

Beautiful stuff. I wonder if the explosions will be arriving with the Harrier module update, or if they'll appear when the 2.5 package is rolled out? I also assume we'll see the module appear initially in 2.x, with 1.5.x following later? Or maybe we'll get 2.5 and the Harrier all at once - wouldn't that be a bonus!!! I have rigged up a machine to press F5 once every .25 second to ensure I don't miss a moment flying this amazing bunch of pixels and code. Thanks for this Jabbers, and thanks RAZBAM for all your work getting this to market. Amazingly good choice!

The underlying fact here is that ED are a company that make their own decisions for any number of reasons. You therefore have 2 basic options if you're not happy with that (apart from the usual "let's whine about ED" approach, which frankly is so long winded, we could have gotten together and designed, researched and built our own PFM/ASM F-16 by now!). The first option - vote with your wallet, and either buy or don't buy the Yak-52. If you do or don't is hardly a subject any one else has the slightest interest in. The second option - buy ED, and then you can run the company however YOU choose. Until you do so, they are an independent, free thinking, commercially successful (we hope) organisation, that can do whatever the hell it likes regarding how it develops it's products and allocates it's resources. Like it, or don't like it, the Yak-52 is coming. I know in every private's knapsack there is a field marshals baton according to some old quote, but I wasn't aware that in every janitors lunchbox there was also a boardroom table!
-
The Yak 52 was used by the military as a trainer, so that civilian label is inaccurate. The A-10C was originally a procedural trainer for the US Air National Guard too, so as you say, this whole labelling thing is complex. Speaking in broad terms the first reply got it spot on. The Microsoft Flight Simulator was originally completely without combat capabilities, so it gets the civil label quite accurately. P3D is a spin off from that, so it can also be labelled the same. DCS World, IL2, Falcon 4.0 et al were all originally written to be combat simulations, so the label applies correctly there too. Just because someone has adapted them to do stuff they weren't originally designed for doesn't change that definition, it just blurs it, and frankly that wasn't what the OP was asking was it. We can however turn absolutely everything into a debate if we try.

DCS AV-8B N/A | Air to Air Refuelling Demo with S3 Viking
NeilWillis replied to 104th_Maverick's topic in AV-8B N/A
Thanks Maverick. Nice flying. -
I'm sure I'm not alone in hoping you'll extend the liveries to similar airframes. It'd be a shame not to have all the nations that used any kind of Harrier represented. RAF, RN, Spanish, Italian, Indian et al. I know this is drifting off topic, and I apologise for that, but we'd overlook a little historical inaccuracy I am sure. Thanks Zeus

Wish List: BF109 Gunpods and rockets?
NeilWillis replied to Xeon's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Yes, we were told that feature will be coming at some point, though no word about when. -
They were operated, in a war situation in the Falklands from an improvised FARP. It was no training exercise.
