When levelling out after the race tr5ack turns, the tanker banks in the opposite direction before correcting back onto the required heading. Initially, trying to stay connected is like riding a bucking bronco, but you can anticipate and allow for it once you know to expect it.

It didn't say "a few weeks" it said "in the coming weeks" There is a huge, but clearly very subtle difference. And to define when "in the coming weeks" means - it means not this week, but in any subsequent week. Frankly the whole premise of this topic is redundant as we will not know exactly when it will be released unless, and until ED have resolved any potentially delaying issues that may or may not have yet arisen - which is precisely why they have given no clear indication of when we will see 2.5. So forget trying to second guess when it'll arrive. It'll arrive when it is ready to be released, and even then it will appear in a pre-release testing format, and no doubt everyone will start complaining that it isn't feature complete. The way to know for certain when 2.5 will be released is by waiting for an announcement from ED. You will not miss that, so really, there isn't any point in wild, inaccurate speculation - which is all this thread will ever be.

stuck on grass
NeilWillis replied to jackmckay's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
So, for now, the solution is to stay off the grass. If you can't steer a plane on the ground, you shouldn't be flying it on operations anyway. Clearly the unpaved areas of DCS World simulate very soft ground - as it often exists in the real world. Try imagining there has been a huge deluge in the past 48 hours that has made the ground terribly wet and soft. In Hollywood that is called suspension of disbelief - without it, you'll just tie yourself up in knots over something that has been a part of DCS World for years. But yeah, we would like to be able to use grass strips - oh wait, we can! -
When lining up, it is usual to make sure your nose wheel is straight by taxiing forward a few metres after aligning with the centreline before releasing the nose wheel steering button. Do that, and you won't need to use the nose wheel on the take off roll as the airspeed soon reaches the point that the rudder authority takes effect.

It's a small matter of priorities. As issues go, the tanker flight model isn't exactly top of the list - thank goodness! You know it happens, so it's easy to anticipate and react to. Hardly worth getting upset about. Personally, I'd sooner see 2.5 released - a far more pressing and significant matter. As long as the matter has been raised as a bug, then it'll get the attention it needs when ED decide that is the next most important thing to fix. So, not very soon I'd guess.

AAR is far and away the hardest evolution in DCS. But yes, given time and practice you can get to the point where you can refuel with a single contact. The difference between basket and boom refuelling is clearly a factor when you compare the SU-33 to the Hog. The basket is far more forgiving if you get out of position during the evolution. That might explain why you find them behaving as they do.

Each skin should go in a separate folder, and each folder should be the first, and only folder within the aircraft folder. All this information really is out there, because I found it out on this very forum. Skins just aren't AV-8B specific, which might explain why you found no answer. Searches really are the essence of good forums though. Apologies if you took my post as just aimed at you however. It is just that the three threads I read on logging in today were all questions which have been answered before. It just needs to be said occasionally, as it really is an incredible resource if you use it well.

Eventually. But probably not today, though they have said nothing, and that's no indication for or against it happening. We'll find out when the newsletter and update(s) arrive in a few hours.

I've read 3 posts so far today, all asking questions that the poster could easily have answered themselves with a little effort and a quick search. To say there has been no news without first checking on.... oh let's think... Maybe the F/A-18C thread at a guess perhaps?... Or am I just being pedantic here? Discuss...

There are a number of threads on this subject already. A search would have put all the info at your fingertips. The locations you have chosen both work. Your problem probably stems from incorrect file structures within the stuff you dropped in. Make sure you have just 1 folder, with no nesting. In other words Liveries\AV8BNA\Skin folder\files. I can confirm that skins for the AV8B work fine.

It's gone live here now. Looks good so far, quite a few changes, but it runs fine with DCS World
-
It's 9.2% in fact. If you check you'll see that the RPM Gauge goes up much higher - in fact beyond 100%, but it sure as hell isn't 1000%.
-
Disappointing. The update wasn't yet to 2.0. It was just a patch to 1.20 I shall be monitoring it closely and I'll let you know more.

No, not necessary at all. Just map the cut off to the idle detent position for your throttle, to do so, go to the controls, find the Throttle cutoff entry, double click the box under the appropriate controller, move the throttle in and out of the cut off position until a key entry registers and save it. Ensure first you have the battery on, the Generator on, the three fuel switches forwards, the fuel cut off lever down, and the DECS switch up (just above the throttle). Then move the starter switch to the forward position, and the engine will commence the start up - make sure the throttle remains at the cut off position until the revs stabilise then lift it out of the cut off and advance it until the engine starts to wind up. The brake lever only prevents the throttle operation AFTER start up, so it definitely isn't that. If it doesn't work that way, then you indeed have a ropey install.

The Pilot's manual is available to download for the real thing. That has all the detail you'll ever need.
-
You have to sign up for open testing to download it - via settings. It appears to have gone live, but until the download finishes I won't know if it is 2.0 or not.
-
I'm downloading the update right now, so I'll soon see what impact it has.

It's new, it's different, and it is a real challenge to fly correctly. What's not to love? I look forward to seeing it with at least working radios to become really useful in a multiplayer environment though.

What angle are nozzles pointed straight down?
NeilWillis replied to Spudknocker's topic in AV-8B N/A
If it's moving backwards you can either raise the nose of the aircraft to stop the drift, or if you feel brave, vary the nozzle angle to suit. Nozzle angle will also affect lift, so you need to co-ordinate thrust too. Nozzle angle isn't an exact science because there are factors like ship motion, and wind to factor in too. The key is to go with what works, and forget the minutia. If it's drifting, wiggle one of the sticks or levers until it doesn't. -
It is a simple thing to map the cut-off detent as well as the throttle axis. That way, you just need to start the engine, take the throttle out of the detent at the appropriate time, and finally at mission end, shut down the engine by lifting the throttle over the idle detent. 1. Select Axis, and add the throttle (Joy axis Z for the Warthog), add a nozzle axis (Joy RZ for the Warthog), add a STOL Stop lever (Joy Slider 1 for the Warthog) You can edit the deadzone in the throttle if you have the afterburner detent operational too. 2. Select All, go to Throttle cutoff and add that (Joy Btn 29 for the Warthog). That gives an efficient, and almost logical set up (the Throttle and Nozzle levers are transposed (Nozzles outboard and Throttle inboard, but the throttle has the majority of buttons needed for HOTAS operation).

What fighters were the Argentinians using in the Falklands?
NeilWillis replied to Neil Gardner's topic in AV-8B N/A
It's also worth bearing in mind that the Argentine air forces were operating at the extreme edge of their range. It was a near run thing, and could easily have ended in disaster for the Royal Navy. The aircraft losses sustained by the UK were all lost to ground fire. The air war was very one sided. -
It is there. You have to add it to a mission to see it.

Really liking the Harrier, well done Razbam
NeilWillis replied to Capn kamikaze's topic in AV-8B N/A
Delighted with it. The best looking cockpit in VR released so far. The HUD looks very crisp. -
This is the best module so far in VR. Everything is clear, especially the HUD, which looks amazingly crisp.

What is wrong with update 29/11/2017 ?
NeilWillis replied to anlq's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
I have had no issues with it. Have you started with a clean copy of DCS World? One thing you might try is to run a repair, and if that doesn't work, rename your saved games folder. A new one will be created when you next run DCS World. If that solves the problem, just copy across files a few at a time until you establish the problem. We did encounter issues with multiplayer stability last night, and will conduct more testing today.
