  1. Trying to identify what is causing this: If you remove a scenery object with this facility and replace that object with another object from the in game scenery, or even 3rd party developers scenery, the issue persists, so its not other objects. Tried reducing the remove zone size to the minimum, that still removes trees many meters away. Tried removing all the objects in that area with minimal zones, all trees are being removed close by. So, Its the Trigger Zones that are causing the problem, not the map, map objects or replacement objects. Anyone else finding other issues with trigger zones. Anybody from DCS got any ideas how to fix this ?
  2. This facility appears to be broken. If you place a zone on the map and select to remove just the objects the trees are also being removed, but not always, it appears to be very random. Even if you select a very small zone (10-15m) the trees close by (20m away) are being removed in many instances, there does not appear to be any consistency in the problem. The missions I am having problems with were set up set up in previous versions of 2.5, I don't know if that has something to do with it. An example: The ugly Restaurant building at Batumi. I set a remove objects trigger at the game start to remove it, a very small trigger set over the buildings, and set it to remove the object only, NOT the tress. The game is now removing all the trees in and around that building as well, and nothing I do appears to change that. The ALT and MAP images below clearly show there should be trees near to the building, and the trigger should not affect those, but they are being removed.
  3. I'm only getting this on certain aircraft, not all of them, whats the equation to work that one out ?
  4. If you look closely you will see that a train goes one way, followed by a different train, then another etc etc etc, then a while later all of that sequence reverse along the same route in the reverse order, so at some point the route thing stops and everything goes back the way it came. Have not spotted where it happens yet, but I imagine its a timing thing. I have not been able to find any of the routes data, trains or vehicles, I changed it all for previous versions to get it more realistic but I think its hidden away now.
  5. Yes, that.
  6. You can pull most of the aircraft, vehicles, ships etc up on any map, so theoretically you can fly and fight WW2 on any map, but the ground below is going to be very different, NTTR very Modern cities with lots of desert scenery. The new Caucasus has more of a 1980's feel to it with no grass airstrips of course (yet), so its really a matter of personal choice. Imagination comes into it a lot I suppose. I like the new Caucasus because of the trees and the mountains, and I have rebuilt many of the airfields to suit my preferences. There are some excellent Mods out there that let you do that, so the Mission Editor is a great tool and with practice you can do just about anything you want on that map. I am even looking at turning a couple of those airfields into Spanish Civil War airstrips (Its a long WIP). The Normandy map is too small, too cluttered, to be that adventurous with, you take off, look around, and all you can see are other dirt airfields, everywhere. So, that's why I prefer NTTR and Caucasus.
  7. It works okay, but its very flat, and its a bit repetitive and I think boring, with far too many airfields packed into what is a small map really. It's not a good representation of that countryside at that time, the village/towns detail is poor and it just does not have the right feel about it for the Normandy I know. I waited for it patiently, bought it, tried it, got bored very quickly and moved on. NTTR and the new Caucasus maps are both much more interesting, better scenery layouts, better ground detail, better everything. That said, its just a very personal view of an area I know well, others may love it and I'm sure it suits the WW2 fans. There is only one way you can be sure, buy it and try it.
  8. Do it the easy way, remove any mods you have installed for now, delete the Liveries folder (its in the Bazar Folder), run Repair and the Liveries folder will be restored to its original form. Reinstall your Mods.
  9. Your lucky, I'm so old I have to submit to a medical every year to see if I'm still fit enough to stay on the site, the last one said if I get any older I should consider taking up a ground job and they have a vacancy for a new dustbin monitor at ED, was I interested. I start next Saturday !
  10. I fell out of the parachute hatch on a Blackburn Beverley once in Aden (now Yemen), without a parachute. The RAF AirCrew had left the wooden hatch cover off by mistake. The hatch is in the tail boom where the few seat are and I was busy looking for somewhere to throw my kit !! Luckily I am para trained so no big deal and no damage done, I landed on my head. :( It was still on the taxiway at the time ... but I had you wondering ???? :megalol:
  11. I have been around since the early days, the days when we had to build our own.
  12. Okay, worked it out, they have changed the way the parking bays are made in the game, changed it completely, the white lines are an overlay on a simple concrete panels skin that is repeated every few meters. Not sure I can do anything with that, so moving along. Interesting to see how many things have changed in 2.5, still loving the trees and the mountain scenery, so much better than before.
  13. Thanks Greg, I'm pretty sure its locked away now, or they have changed the way the parking areas are made on the maps now.
  14. The file I'm looking for is not in there, I looked earlier. I'm pretty sure its locked away now, and it was just one skin I wanted to make a small change to so not important really. wpp-czs.dds is what I'm trying to find. Thanks anyway Skate.
  15. A small 'bump'before I give up on that and move on to the next problem. Anybody - Ideas even ?
  16. You can place a very limited number of individual buildings in the Mission Editor, there is no placeable collection of buildings structures in the form of a small town or city Mod that I am aware of. Sadly the buildings that are available in 2.5 are nothing special. I have asked a couple of times if the structures are going to be updated or added to in 2.5 but no response from ED. I imagine it will come, one day, anything has to be better than what we have now.
  17. Anybody found where they are hidden yet, damned if I can find them, they are not in all the usual places they have been in the past, and I cant find them in the 2.5 Caucasus Map Mod either. I want to play around with one of them and any changes in the Temp Textures folder is being ignored, so the usual procedure for changing them isn't going to work it seems.
  18. Watch out for those radio masts sticking up around the flight deck, they were only up when in harbour or at cruising stations, at flying stations they were down and well out of the way of any aircraft and helo's approaching and working the deck. Same applies to guardrails and flag masts on the flight deck, if the ship had any, always removed for flying stations. Flags normally fly from the main yard's at sea. Bonnie is looking good.
  19. Some of the things you mention are already available Lunatic, in 3rd party Mods, but not all. Rangers Assets Packs, VP's Airfields Pack, to name but 2. I look around the Nevada Map and some of that stuff would be wonderful to have, and would fit in with the other maps depending on your mission period. Sadly I have not found any way to extract that stuff from the game, so it would be nice if ED could make some of it available in the Mission Editor. I would particularly like some of the new trees, they are great. We live in hope !!
  20. Now that I am getting used to the new Causcasus Map and working out its little foibles, I am loving it, it just looks so much better than before. Within the ME we have the same old buildings as we have always had, some of them really quite poor for the modern map. Is there a plan to add other or newer buildings to this feature, I would particularly like to be able to add some trees in a few places. We can remove them, it would be great to add a few back where we want them. Is that being considered, is it even possible, I appreciate the trees might not be as simple as it sounds.
  21. You can do that yourself, stop/cancel the torrent as soon as it starts and it gives you the option to go to an HTTP download.
  22. Sorted - Thanks SkateZilla.
  23. I can confirm this problem is being caused by my very old RFA Wave Ruler mod that was designed for DCS 1.5. I have been trying to fix it for a while to get it to work in DCS 2.5 and have finally given up, its not a texture problem but a model problem and I cannot seem to be able to fix it, sorry. You will have to remove both models from your game to get rid of that horrible wake problem REMOVE RFA Wave Ruler AND USNS Patuxent, both ships use the same model base. Once you have removed both the issue should go away.
  24. If you place the new building just off to the side of the old one very slightly it will stay on the ground, it only does that when you place it right on top of the old building. It takes a little trial and error to work out how far you have to move it but its easily done. As a rule of thumb if you place the square of the new one just over half way off the square of the old one you should get the right result. Here is an example of it, the rather ugly old Restaurant building at Batumi removed and replaced with one of VP's buildings, plus a few extra's:
