  1. It's done this for months, maybe years for the Russian betty, but now even the English version seems to get cut off.
  2. The SPO thread that's on the same page has more to do with the display itself rather then the sounds, so I decided to make a thread specifically about the sounds instead of barging into their discussion. I have always wondered, especially since the inclusion of the new SPO sounds back near the beginning of Flaming Cliffs 3, whether the real-life SPO sounds like it does in game. The devs have the frequency right... (quote from another forum): ...but what I'm thinking seems off is the fact that it's rather complex, and almost sounds acoustic in-game, not any sort of sound you'd expect to hear from a 1970's-1980's RWR system. I was thinking the real one sounds more like this (in launch tone). Note that it is a simple square tone: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/77/Launch.wav The original for comparison: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f9/Launchorig.ogg I'd especially like to get some info from any pilots (past or present) that have flown with an SPO if they can remember how it sounded. Thanks for any assistance.
  3. Sunday night mission editor fun Taken after bombing a mobile command post...no edits made. Hats off to ED for making one of the most beautiful flight simulators on the market :D I set up a 32 vs. 32 MiG-15 vs. Sabre match earlier... and the Sabres lost miserably, with all lost and only 2 MiGs downed.
  4. happened again, just to note this is the last screen i see before a timeout
  5. Saitek X52 pro user here, pretty good HOTAS for the price. be sure to watch out, some of them have quality issues
  6. Russian Bear heads off to harass Tblisi.
  7. #MilShaming
  8. Wingman landing at Sochi Would have made for a really nice end to the mission...until he rams his wing into my tail.
  9. i'd guess they'd be easier to make and get data for, not sure what the guy's intent on getting an older block was though
  10. it's more like putting most of your gold items away instead of for show...you still have them, they're just not there in the same amount for everyone to see.
  11. i have the sudden urge to create a chit chat thread that almost exclusevly communicates using emoticons. :helpsmilie: i :pilotfly: but then :joystick: :censored: so i :book: and , now i'm
  12. well if it's your first you might be better off doing something only a little more elegant than a high quality..."flyable mod" as some people say, (stuff like triet ngyuen's MiG-31) and if you have any knowledgeable scripters on hand you can make your own targeting systems and whatever else the fullback uses. i have yet to see a mod that allows the user to launch Kh-59s or Kh-65s in a proper manner without the utilization of launch authorization override (on any aircraft capable of wielding them), so that might be a nice touch...that is if you get the people willing to script stuff like that. mind you, i've made flyable mods but they all fail at certain points, mostly pertaining to weapons systems since there are no true multirole aircraft in the FC3 pack. the Flanker and Fulcrum cockpits do well with LGBs and dumb bombs but that's about it. I usually just copy-paste scripts instead of writing my own anyways, so i don't think i could help you much on those missiles. in any case, good luck on the project. PS: i could try and help out with sound design though, though i'm nothing like diveplane, i'm somewhat versed in producing internal systems sounds and the like. message me if you need some help with cockpit sounds, warnings, that kind of stuff.
  13. i suppose this is going to be around flaming cliffs level?
  14. AFAIK Russia is extremely tight-lipped about their aircraft, which is probably why we only have the KA-50 as a post-1970's Soviet/Russian module. Most likely, even an A-model would be a dream. Besides that, not everyone would buy it, it has relatively horrifying fuel economy and capacity, and only has 6 hardpoints that can hold missiles or bombs. Even though this is the case, as Revolver Ocelot says himself... When you take 2 of those hardpoints for tanks, though, all you get are 4 missiles, usually only 2 for dogfights and 2 for BVR. But of course, the BVR (in a literal sense) on cold war soviet missiles has never been particularly good in DCS...:P
  15. Another comparison shot, real life vs. EDGE (edited)
  16. when your friend doesn't text you where they are meeting up and you ask them to send their SPI
  17. i have a bad feeling that it's directly related to RAM usage. stuttering is usually the kind of problem that arises from either too little RAM or memory leaks. DCS has been a RAM hog for quite a while now, never had much of an issue during 1.2.16 and before then. back then, the only time i'd get d/c'ed was for integrity check fails and server restarts, and probably the monthly time-out i've already posted on this problem here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2879125#post2879125
  18. "Can the Turkey pull a cobra?" "the Turkey" is much different than "Turkey" by itself. edit: seems like i was sniped by a day.
  19. had it again (again being the 30th time this week or so), stuttering throughout gameplay, then spectating a missile with the sea as a background (shouldn't tax the RAM or GPU all that much) caused me to freeze for approximately 30 seconds, then time out. i've had this occur for 2 weeks at least. probably longer due to getting disconnected for no reason before these problems started. it's making MP near impossible on large scale missions such as 104th or open conflict. i have 8 gigs of ram, 4 gigs of vram, a 4 ghz i7, and the install is clean on an SSD. i don't understand how this isn't enough. sorry if my attitude is not the best, i'm just tired of this happening every single time i try MP (and that's not an exaggeration, maybe twice or three times every time before i can even get to the slotting menu) and i don't want to spend an extra 40 dollars on 8 more gigs of RAM. i've seen that 8 gigs is supposedly the minimum requirement now (which i think it's astonishing that we've come this far) but i hoped that 8 gigs could do much more than this. logs attached. i don't know what to do now. Logs.zip
  20. ps: don't mean to be rude, but take a good look at my sig eagledriver, preferrably the first quote. i.e. name your threads what the topic is. "help, i hope this isn't a stupid question" isn't going to bring anyone forward easily
  21. don't forget the mig-29a and su-33.
  22. *drumroll* Prepare your eyes for the most magnificent spectacle you've ever seen! Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you...the Flying Co-pilot!
  23. if you're talking about the SPO equipped aircraft, that's been a bug for a long time. don't know when it will or how it could be fixed.

  25. Attacking Georgian air defense and artillery with MiG-29A, Lock On 1.02. Really fun ground attack/CAS aircraft. :D And yes, that's an Igla being fired at me in front of the artillery line. None of them hit though, so that's good. I wish full shadows worked on DX10 and up graphics cards. For now I'm just using all planar.
