Poll for Civil Modules you would buy for DCS World
tarracta replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS Wishlist
The upcoming Jet-Trainers like Hawk are nearly civilian aircrafts... I want some "big planes", finally start up to 4 engines and get 200 tons up in the air  -- but no matter if a civilian 787 or military C-5 Galaxy ... -
Fortunately not all Europeans are thinking so. It's always good to have a valid bill with your name on it so if there's any trouble after the purchase you have a mandatory evidence that you have payed the money. For that ED is doing a great job to keep the paying methods simple and smart, because every 3rdy-party billing provider wants to earn his percentage and so things are getting more expensive and complicated for everyone. So in the meantime debit cards are even in Germany state of the art, at every gas station you pay with it.... and I won't use any other thing on the Internet for security and legal reasons, except Paypal ...

Myriads? Windows 7/8 64-Bit, DirectX 11 compatible, AMD and NVDIA graphics card. :music_whistling: Meanwhile a PC became fairly a standard-product with not too much differences and exotic hardware anymore... my last game which had really hard, hardware-depending bugs, is a decade away.

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
tarracta replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I think this is only a cost-benefit-calculation. WW2 planes and the first jet fighters are pretty easily done (no electronics, weapon systems or classified stuff) and have a fanbase which is big enough so that the development generates profit. Money they need for the interesting planes like F/A-18 and so on. They just can't develop a plane over years and have nothing to sell in this time. For me this is very frustrating too, I just bought the Dora to have the feeling of a vintage fighter, but another (pretty the same) plane doesn't make sense for me. But while I see what other game studios are doing concerning flight sims (rather...nothing), then I'm very happy about that, what ED does. -
Most MANPADS which are owned by terrorists may be too antiquated so they can't be a risk for modern fighters. Even in lower flight altitudes, without a perfect reconnaissance you just don't get the weapon loaded and armed until a jet with military speed is not far over visibility and weapon range. Even the A-10 may often be too fast and too agile. Would be the same trying to stop a tank with a pistol. It's a threat for helicopters and cargo planes and these are deployed only very carefully due to this reasons. In the final approach even an AK-47 may be a threat for airplanes.

^ What he says in radio: "The road is blocked due to an UFO crash, please make a rescue lane"

A pen is built to write something. A semi-truck size quad copter is built only to ... kill someone. And if this video should have been entertainment, the author wouldn't have used western aircrafts as targets, but fictional units.
-
Someone must have big hatred against the US and done this video... and not much experience, F-22 on a carrier  If that would work so easily, you could do such big damage with every combat helicopter, too. But in reality these aircrafts are very vulnerable - especially with 4 rotors and in this size. Maybe there would be a surprise effect, but someone would find a MANPAD and shoot this thing down from the sky, job done. Attacking a carrier with rockets without any issues?... never heard of Phalanx system and some other ships which always escort a carrier? As said .. someone with big hatred but not really an idea how things work.

I don't believe in anything until it's downloading to my harddrive....:music_whistling:

YES!!! I was so flabbergasted while spooling up the engines the first time. FINALLY it sounds like a jet engine with low-frequency components and not like a defective vacuum cleaner in the F-15C ...

I bet my monthly salary that we won't see EDGE and NTTR in this year... reading the news posts done a year ago made us believe getting a christmas gift, and this year the readings are even less promising..
-
But at least some glass cleanser would do a great job to clean up the canopy and HUD... but yes .. we've museums here which polish their exhibits to high gloss and some others let them rust and run a scrapyard instead of a museum...
-
Why do nearly all these cockpits look like the plane laid for 10 years at the ground of the ocean? They should all be refurbished from scratch... sad to see them in this poor condition, especially the F-86
-
I'm surprised how cheap it is ... only 98€ for a 15 min flight... that is possibly just the fuel price... If you need a helicoter service e.g. for rescue purposes this costs easily mulitple thousands Euros...

1) Because I cannot give it up :P 2) At least there is a time limit until activations refreshes But this is big exception, I have dozen of games which could be activated 3 times and then it's over forever. For that this business practice is damnable in general. I buy a game and on which hardware I want to use it is not the business of the game manufacturer.
-
How I hate this hardware-based activations, this is definitely a security policy out of the last century!!!! Comes directly next to malware-installers like Starforce... Today you offer a user portal (like Battle.net or Steam) and every user adds bought products to his account and can use them, no matter which hardware he currently has got. Countless poeple have multiple PC's, are hardware geeks which are happy to change components very frequently and with this copy protection directly out of the stoneage I've always trouble with this games - and refuse to buy them. Sadly, DCS uses this antiquated methods which don't comply the needs of the present, too. Blizzard & Co are showing how it works.
-
They should just build a Flaming-Cliffs arcade-version of the F-22 and keep it out of serious multiplayer gaming. DID and Novalogic could build a F-22 15 years ago, which truly wasn't as-real-as-it-gets, but still very fun to fly. I just want it as a plane for smashing a few AI-flights and bombing some ground targets.... and finally got the feeling to fly F-22 again. Sometimes I even install this old F-22 Raptor from Novalogic just to have this experience back ;)

McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle: Flight Manual eBook
tarracta replied to SinusoidDelta's topic in F-15C for DCS World
So the solution is to develop vintage fighters forever? No, it shows only the need of further DCS-level productions like F-16, Mig-29 oder Su-27. And then these WW2 clunkers would still be a nice practice target for beginners which still have to get used to missile operations :P -
Beside the great (probably one of the best) movie, it's always a very pleasure to see the replica of the U-96 and the water basin in the Bavaria Filmstudios in Munich.

[1.2.10] unable to touch the deck of Amiral Kouznetsov with F-15
tarracta replied to Ergo95FRA's topic in Object Errors
ROFL. Even if you fly a F-15 against a skyscraper it has to crash and not fly through it and crash on the ground. Even if no airframe is designed to break into smithereens, it has to do it when you drive it against a concrete wall.
