  1. You will be at a huge disadvantage still. Having nothing but heaters doesn't really help you when you radar is so bad compared to the modern aircraft. I'm still not understanding this fantasy setup of using modern aircraft with nothing but heat seekers. I was still hoping for a real era setting like Korea or Vietnam.
  2. Well, not really. The mig 21 will still be at a disadvantage, as much as normal because of the radar.
  3. Great! I'd like that server to not die or fade away. I'm not saying it will but new players are always welcome. This server has literally ruined me. I get too bored in any other server now. I just don't, personally, like limiting things for no other reason than to limit them. As I said before, going for an era specific setup with correct aircraft, or as correct as we can be, that limits our weapons is awesome. Doing what is going on right now during the test, isn't for me.
  4. Well yes, of course, but just using an example without going into all the specific aircraft that could be used and would be appropriate.
  5. It was WW2 with appropriate aircraft. If we did Korea with the F86 and Mig 15, fine. If we did what we could with Vietnam using the Mig21 and F5, great, but this set up using aircraft that we all know have radar guided missiles and will keep their radar, its just, not fun. From what I'm hearing on TS on both sides, not many are happy with this setup. Personally if this is what round 9 is, I will take your advice and sit it out as will many others. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for this other than trying to think of something different to do. Why don't we just limit fuel to 50% and go guns only? Doing an era is fine, limiting weapons for no other reason than to get people in close, not for me. This is my favorite server, but won't be if this kind of stuff keeps happening. I really hope it doesn't.
  6. Am I hearing this right, round 9 is going to be a "dog fight" scenario instead of an era like Vietnam? Tell me I'm wrong, please...
  7. Good job Bluefor. You may have had to have 5-1 odds, but you did it!
  8. I'd love to do that but you and I both know that there would be at least one person that would go shooting people down.
  9. No offense, but it's going to be hard to take you serious when the info is out there about how the Mirage is broken and a definitive advantage yet you are saying it doesn't matter.
  10. You can lead a horse to water, but...
  11. Close the airfield, they can't spawn
  12. It's not happening and IF it is, its so rare that its not a concern. Now, we all know there are plenty of F15's taking off with just the drop tanks. We see it all the time at the beginning of a session. Either way, there's too much complaining about something that really isn't making a difference one way or the other.
  13. You don't really understand what the 51 drivers, the ones that know the plane, are talking about. First of all, you have to know that you don't fight with fuel in the center tank. It throws the CG too far back and makes it a beast to fight in. Having said that, the P51 we have has IFF equipment AND a center fuel tank so that even if the center fuel tank is empty, you still have that weight there, throwing the CG off. That is one of the complaints about the P51 we have. Even if we have no fuel in the center tank it doesn't change the fact that we have the iff equipment there. In reality it should be one or the other but it still screws up the CG. It's an awful version of the P51 IMO.
  14. They don't look different. It's the equipment inside that is different.
  15. You can change the freqs in the mission editor to what you want to use.
  16. Help you how? It's already there.
  17. So I can input a frequency into nav radios in the FC aircraft?
  18. Something is just "off" with the winds in here. When there's a 5-10 mph crosswind on the runway DCS makes it feel like a hurricane is blowing the plane off into the grass. lol I can't explain it, but I've never cared for how the wind is modeled in here or maybe stated better, how the aircraft reacts to wind conditions. It just seems wrong.
  19. That would be fine if you could actually use the instruments in the main aircraft (FC aircraft) but you can't really.
  20. I've only run into one person, other than myself that had a problem with SR. If someone does have a problem with it, there are plenty of people that are able to help with it.
  21. I told him what he should do and where to go for comms. He just ignored it. Some people just want to do the DCS call of duty, run and gun and nothing else.
  22. I've mentioned it but it's kind of been ignored. Hopefully we can peer pressure people into at least muting their TS if they have to use the same button for their PTT on both TS and SR.
  23. Yes absolutely it's worth it. I think it should be the primary communications tool over TS. Having said that, I personally think it compliments TS. TS is a good place to meet AND see who's on comms. That is a nice part of TS, the player list. I will normally mute my mic and speaker on TS after I'm in game and running SR.
  24. Yes, but instead of just getting frustrated (it happens to me too) nicely explain how we're trying to get things working between TS and SR. I'd say more than anything, it's just people sticking to old habits. If we NICELY explain that SR needs to be free from the side chat I think most will comply without an attitude. As far as TS, I as do others, will meet there and leave it on but mute it. Since we're on the subject, I'd personally appreciate it if people would use a PTT for SR that was different than their PTT for TS. That stereo echo is awful when they talk. I understand that some people don't have enough buttons and that's fine, you just need to mute your mic in TS.
  25. Having flown both sides I can say that I've definitely made A LOT of new friends by flying on the Red side. Sure we can have our problems but generally speaking, it is the complete opposite of how you described the Blue side. If there's a lull we will BS on comms a bit but normally people are being tasked by GCI and working together on whatever mission we may have at the time. I know that people, especially new people, will naturally choose Blue and that hurts you guys. I remember when I first started messing around with BF and I had NO idea what was going on or what I was supposed to do. Luckily, I figured out very quick that I needed to be on comms and listening so that I could help. I mentioned it earlier but I'll say it again. If there isn't already, Buddyspike should put up a specific insctructions/mission brief page for new players so they understand what they should be doing. Anyone that is new and joins is naturally going to think it's like any other server, just get on and fly. I've just recently saw a new blue player complaining over chat that the server sucked, why was the target airfield so far away, where's the mission brief. I had to just chuckle because I knew what he was thinking but also, how wrong he was. Anyway, a server description with some instructions may go a long way to alleviate the problem of having new players. Although they can be frustrating, we need them to go from new to veteran.
