This. There's a HUGE difference in the two.
-
That is the exception. I changed sides from Blue to Red because people literally have to flight for slots on missions the Blue side is doing most of the time.

Ok, I saved the page. Thank you!

I figured out what was going on after the update. I needed the new ip.

I think people will use TS and SR together at first but as time goes on, SR will be the primary comms program in game. For those of you that seem to be a bit stubborn, TS will always be around, at least to use at a meeting place. Ciribob has put in alot of work, on his own time to give US something for free. He's asked for suggestions and help from any of us. It would be nice if we could all come together and help him make this as useful and realistic as possible. Like I eluded to earlier, I wouldn't be surprised if this is integrated into DCS itself. We're a small group in the computer gaming scene. We really shouldn't be arguing. Just download it and five it a try. I really do believe you'll appreciate the program. If you don't care for it then you wasted a few minutes of your life.

I see some people are complaining about the thought of using Simple Radio. Let me start by saying I was totally against it. Mostly it was because I thought it would split the community. I downloaded it and use it now. It's as simple as using TS but IMO it's better suited for what we're doing in aircraft. You're using the actual radios in the aircraft and for the FC planes, there is a small overlay to input radio frequencies. It's really something that should be integrated into vanilla DCS. Things that are coming in the future of SR are really what sets it apart from TS. Things like radio propagation, limitation of radio waves due to weather and terrain, encryption, etc. Like it or not, I really see this as the future of communication for DCS and it's a good thing. At least download it and give it a try. I think you'll change your mind.

I just updated as well and the same thing is happening to me. I can't connect on Blue Flag.

The "new" P-51D model. What can we expect?
BSS_Sniper replied to Solty's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Yup, personally I could've done without the rare axis birds. I'm still not sure why so much time and effort is put into these late and rare models instead of more common types. We've had more of those two axis planes fly here on DCS servers than 100 times the actual war numbers. lol -
I know it's been brought up in its own thread, but... adding EGT and engine limitations so we can't load any weight and fly with the EGT pegged out.
-
This isn't really a thread to figure out my specific problem but to see how many others are experiencing this. I only fly the Blue Flag Campaign when its running. I'm seeing a lot of people losing their connection to the server because of a connection timeout, including myself. Are any of you experiencing this in other servers or in general? This is new for me and I haven't changed anything on my end.
-
I didn't mean to sound rude. Have you ever reread something later and thought to yourself, "oh, that didn't come across as planned"? That just happened. lol What I mean is that since this is a combat sim AND I can pretty much bet that most people don't know how to fly IFR, it probably isn't the best place to do it, not to mention that it would be difficult at best in most of the aircraft and impossible in some. I've also noticed that the ILS in here doesn't really work that well, unless it really is set to put you in a 2000' per minute decent, which we know it shouldn't be. I don't think DCS is the best place for it, for many reasons, mainly because it isn't set up for it like some others may be.

Connection timeout and can't re-join server.
BSS_Sniper replied to Schmidtfire's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
Hopefully we can get this taken care of. This time out crash is happening a lot, so much so it's not worth going into MP. -
I'd buy something that was actually useful, not an L39, Hawk, F5, ect...Still my major concern, the aircraft we get, while appreciated, are all over the place (era) and even worse, trainers that are only used in single player.
-
Well, its more than that, it burns the trailing edge of the wing/flaps when firing that extra one. It is unrealistic because it isn't done except in DCS, just like people flying the Huey way over the EGT limits because they've loaded 4 gatlings.
-
If you start requiring MODs, especially something like that, you're going to lose people. Personally, I wouldn't want it. While I have fun in here and I care about realism, the last thing I want is for this to start feeling like I'm at work flying. Having said that, I'd try to work with what the server wanted.
-
That is something that needs some major overhaul, AI behavior.
-
A10's shouldn't be carrying 6 anyway. The only place you'll see it as the norm is in DCS. I can see 4, but that's at most.
-
That is also a lot different. Flying a jet that's 5-8 times faster in cruise and altitude than an IL2. Removing the F10 option is just going to make it suck overall. As it is now, the concentration is on coordination and attacking targets. Now, if you throw in people having to do a shit ton of preflight planning for each and every flight, the focus gets shifted and we lose what's making this server great. I don't get what it is with some of you. I think you need to go get your ratings, get a job flying then come back here. You won't want to do all this "realism". I'm all for it really, in real life. Like I said before, it's when you are in our virtual world and you're not just doing one or two flights, but quite a few, it becomes a hassle and over shadows everything else that makes it fun.
-
You look at the map, associate the terrain around you and put two and two together. It's not that difficult. Having said that, I'd rather just keep the F10 option. I really don't want what I'm doing for fun to start feeling like work. To be honest, people that are talking about realism, you won't be getting any more realism by taking your icon off the map. I highly doubt that people are going to go into their FMS and set up a route for each and every flight. IRL yeah, you are going out once a day or less. In here, people are up and down way too often to be sitting on the ground setting up flight management systems several times a day. You'll spend more time planning than flying, IF you are going for realism in that sense.
-
I'd love for this to happen. While I still fly the FC aircraft a small bit, I'd love for them to just be gone. It should be all or nothing IMO so that people have to actually learn the aircraft and systems instead of skating through in an easy aircraft. For the moment, it is going to be hard not to include them since they are needed aircraft. It really sucks that ED doesn't plane on making them full aircraft. That attitude makes it look like they are thinking "well, people have them and we don't care". Personally I think it's nuts they don't just complete them.

TrackIR Behavior with 1.5.4 Release
BSS_Sniper replied to Flame's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
Maybe for you, but the placement of the head before this change was fine, now I feel like I'm sitting with my head crammed against the top of the canopy. I'm guessing somewhere in this thread someone's posted a way to fix it so I'm going to have to dig through. The way it is now is unplayable for me. I've yet to sit in a cockpit where I'm looking down onto the glareshield. My eyes should be looking straight out, just over the top of it. -
The last thing I want to do is fly IFR in something that I want to have fun in and make it feel like I'm at work. Also, if the weather is bad IRL, you won't have an air support so why do it here? This is from my real life experience. IMO IFR needs to be left to someone that wants to fly approaches on FSX.

I appreciate it. I didn't mean to come across as nasty or saying the missions are bad. They are in fact pretty good and I can tell a lot of time and thought has been put into each one. My only concerns/suggestions were as I said before, the fog (its only one mission) and mainly the wind/turb. I feel like after a certain amount it makes it, not sure how to put it, a lot more than it would be on what I'd consider a normal day. Either way, thanks for the time and effort you put into the missions and replying to my post.
-
You said once aircraft are at a fixed altitude, I was just adding that fixed altitude is 18k and above.
-
Well, not quite correct. Once you're at 18,000 then 29.92 is used, Below that you're using the local pressure.
