  1. I haven't noticed it but I'd like to see it on more than just the canopy. It would change how people fly. Don't forget, you need to be in the right conditions to get icing on aircraft surfaces. If you not in visible moisture, at a slow enough speed at the right temps, you're not going to get it.
  2. Sorry I took so long. I'm just now seeing this. I'd be very wary about doing civilian rotor, unless you flew in the mil. There's no pipeline to getting the hours necessary to meeting insurance requirements to be able to get a job. A lot of places will tell you that you'll be able to start flying after you get your commercial but it isn't true. You'll need a lot more total time and time in type. It's much different on the fixed wing side and there is a pipeline, even though it's long, to getting yourself to a good paying job. Either way, to use your GI Bill, and I'm assuming you want to use the Post 9/11 GI Bill since it not only pays 100% of your school but gives you BAH, you need to go to a FAR 141 school and not a part 61. 141 just means it has an approved training syllabus and are always more expensive but since its covered in the Post 9/11, it doesn't matter. You're welcome to pm me with questions. Again, be wary about civilian helicopter schools. I know a lot of people that thought they'd be working after their commercial only to be stuck with a rating that they couldn't do anything with.
  3. After the last update I noticed something with the Mig 21. The plane feels like and exhibits the characteristics of slow flight, no matter what airspeed your at. The controls are mushy, for lack of a better word and they just shouldn't be. Now, let me say this isn't coming from how I "think" a plane should feel. It's based on my personal and professional experience from flying everything from a single engine Cessna up to multi engine passenger jets. I'm just hoping LN can take a look at it and/or tell me why the 21 is like this after the update. Let me also say that I love LN's products and is in no way me trying to say anything negative.
  4. Why is anyone suggesting that its ok to come into BF and not use at a minimum, TS. This is a problem we already have with people coming in, not getting on comms and basically getting in the way. They take up valuable slots and then go off to do their own thing. The tactical markers being available doesn't change the need for everyone to be on comms. It's probably one of the most annoying things that happens in BF. If you don't want to use TS or SR, there are plenty of other servers available that don't require it. BF is the wrong place to be if you don't want to connect to TS or SR.
  5. I'm not seeing what this picture of a 190 cockpit that has some modern avionics added to it for civilian use has to do with anything. That is a picture of an aircraft that a private owner has modified for his own, personal use. The F15 in game does not have GPS. It's set in a specific time period as are all the other aircraft. Just because you can by a Garmin today and install it in an aircraft doesn't mean that time specific military aircraft should have them.
  6. There shouldn't ever be a lone wolf in BF. That completely defeats the purpose of this server/mission. BF demands that everyone is on comms and working together. It doesn't matter if there are marks and notes on the map.
  7. I'm not sure why you keeping mentioning EO on Russian aircraft seeing helicopters when the radar in game works much better at seeing them, no matter what altitude they're at.
  8. Also, you don't need to shut the engine down to dead stick in. No one actually does that, for obvious reasons, outside of a sim.
  9. If that's the case, it's very wrong. You never brake like that. You apply brakes and you stay on them until you stop or slow to a taxi speed.
  10. I highly doubt that's a full 90 degree full 30-40 kt xwind
  11. That is basically what I do, good vid.
  12. I need to actually time it but I'd be surprised if it took much more than 60 seconds for me to get a Huey up and running. I mean with everything. If I skip the radios and other nonessential stuff I can get up faster.
  13. One of the guys in our group is a current instructor at TG
  14. Where's the like button?
  15. You're dreaming if you think your altitude or even speed have anything to do with being seen on enemy airborne radar. You can fly 1m off the deck and you may as well be at 10k. You can land and they will still pick you up. The only radar you have any chance of evading are EWR's or something similar. The radar in DCS needs a rework or a bit of tweaking when it comes to aircraft and low altitude.
  16. I enjoyed flying with you guys
  17. Those were some fun runs!
  18. That seems like a lot of money for 7 switches that don't really do anything after engine start.
  19. can we see about a life reset? Since Greg restarted the server for a fix, we've lost 3 of our 4 lives due to the server crashing or disconnects.
  20. Well, at least we don't have to ask Roccoo who it was, you just told us. lol He never gave a name, but thanks for letting us know who to avoid!
  21. I wish I had that. Today, right after lives reset, myself, Roccoo and quite a few others lost 3 lives in the span of an hour due to disconnects.
  22. Is was sarcasm. As far as the numbers, right now it's 6 blue and 18 red. It's been that way for a large part of the day.
