Questions to ask the real Black Diamond Jet Team?
BSS_Sniper replied to VTB_Bingo's topic in DCS: L-39 Albatros
The problem with asking people to try out a sim for an hour is that you aren't going to get much good feedback. Most of the time they will just nod and say "hey, that's great" and move on. The only real way to know is if they fly it for a few weeks or more. Then you'll get real feedback. As I said before, we have a member here that owns a L39 and flies the DCS one as well. -
Questions to ask the real Black Diamond Jet Team?
BSS_Sniper replied to VTB_Bingo's topic in DCS: L-39 Albatros
I have worked Sun n Fun many times...There is a member here that owns a L39 and flies in Blue Flag. I fly with him on a regular basis. Why haven't you just asked him? He flies the DCS L39 online often. -

SRS is for brevity and that general frequency is the GCI freq -
Use the grey lever on the right side of the throttle base. It's an acid and not used for anything on the A10. It works very well.

I looked and didn't see this mentioned...since the last update, the srs pop up window for the fc3 aircraft doesn't stay in top with dcs. I have to constantly minimize to see and manipulate it. Is this just a bug that's going to be fixed or on purpose?

There was a thread on this subject a while ago. It addressed the fact that there are no engine limitations modeled, including EGT and that we wanted it. As you know, you can fly this Huey as hard as you want and there are no repercussions. It was also brought up that the torque vs egt ratio seemed off as well. If you add rockets and guns or any combination of weapons you are constantly having to fly in the yellow or red on egt. It's never been addressed and it's difficult for me to understand why.

Maybe you haven't noticed, but hardly anyone flies the Su33 so it's not really a factor. It's a long flight to get to anywhere to do anything and by the time you get there, it's almost time to land for fuel, if you're still alive to do so. If you need to rearm, you won't be rearming with any ET's or ER's. So, I'm not sure why you're attributing Blue not being able to get past Sochi to the Su33's. The most I've seen up at once is 3, one time. Usually it's one, maybe two. If that is what's keeping you from getting past Sochi, you may need to go offline and work on some skills. lol -

It would help if you tell us what aircraft you're using. Each one has different things you need to do to transmit with a specific radio, in the cockpit. If you're talking about the FC aircraft, you need to click the colored circle to the right of the frequency window in the popup srs window. The green one is the one you're currently transmitting on. -

Yes, I know, but you aren't going to do much coordinating if people are on 5 different frequencies. We've always used TS to coordinate, then flights split off on their individual frequencies while monitoring the GCI freq. SRS is a great thing and I like that we utilize it, but you can't use it alone, at least while you're planning and getting a mission together. -

It's well known that we've always gone to TS, THEN use srs. You are getting in srs and basically blind as to who is on comms. Get on TS, find out who is using what frequency, then use SRS. We've always done this, since SRS has come out and we don't have problems communicating. -
If you're loaded up with all the things you first suggested, you will be over max EGT for the entire flight. Something to remember is that they STILL have not gotten the correct engine power/EGT ratio fixed, nor have they added engine limitations, especially EGT limitations. As it is, if you load up all four gatlings you will be over max EGT during your entire flight. It baffles me that they still haven't addressed this issue.

Usually, if there aren't enough people on to justify using SRS, we won't be on it. There are a handful that will get on even if they are alone, but normally, if there are just 5 or 6 people, TS is easier. Either way, you should always have at a minimum, TS up and running, even with SRS. I remember asking you to get on comms with the rest of us, through chat and it went ignored. Sometimes there are not enough people on to use srs and we're just on TS. I've also noticed that there are a lot of new people on red that refuse to get on any type of comms what so ever. The core group of red that have been flying red since BF started are always on comms, sometimes its just TS if there are only a handful of us and other times we're on both TS and SRS. At a minimum, we are always on TS. If you just get on SRS, you have no idea who is on what frequency, if anyone is on at all. -
How to use Dora's energy advantage over Mustang?
BSS_Sniper replied to Istari6's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
1v1 is going to favor the aircraft that turns better? No offense, but that sounds like beginner thinking. Things are going to favor the one with a better energy advantage and the one that maintains that energy. If you get yourself into a turn fight in a plane that should be using BnZ, you need to go back and train. The only way your logic is going to work is if the other guy isn't smart enough to stay out of the turn fight. Other than getting a lucky shot, the guy that is BnZ'ing the turn fighter is going to win. -

IMO, unless you saw it and know the same way you'd know if you really got shot down...I really hope they don't bring back kill messages. There's no reason to have them. The only excuse I hear from people that want them is pure curiosity. That just isn't a good enough reason to me. -

The information for those aircraft are out there and available. That's what baffles me. It's just the Russian government won't let ED make these aircraft for the sim. -

This is exactly the reason they need to cut ties with Russia. If ED can't make Russian aircraft, it pretty much ruins this sim as a whole, unless you want to simulate NATO vs NATO. The FC3 aircraft are nice, but have no place in a modern DCS sim. It's ridiculous to me that a company that has zero ties with Russia could drop a sim and make any aircraft they want, but ED has their hands tied. I won't pretend to know why they haven't moved on from this headache that prevents them from developing these much needed aircraft, all I know is that they need to. -

Dynamic weather imo is a waste for a few reasons. Two that come to mind are one; if things are socked in, you aren't going to be hitting any targets on the ground. TBH, if things are IFR in real life, there are quite a lot of aircraft that aren't going to be going on mission anyway. Secondly, the way wind affects aircraft in here is wonky to say the least, after it gets up to a certain speed. I will just leave that one at that. Minor weather deviations are fine if people want them, but having things socked in is really pointless given what we do in here. I highly doubt most people in here know how to operate in an IMC environment anyway. -

We don't want kill messages. People will try to bring up these trivial points about needing them, but in reality, it's just about instant gratification and wanting to know who you got. We are trying to keep things as realistic as possible while still keeping it playable. If you want to know if you got a kill, you can always look at the in game score. -
This. DCS isn't even close to what you'd need if you want to practice things for flight school. Personally, FSX is what I'd go for. I use it to prep at my job. I have a friend that flies 737's for American and he uses P3D to prep for his checks. Honestly, DCS flight models aren't what they should be for actual training, not to mention the navaids are all wrong and goofy, what little navaids they have in here.
-
I wouldn't suggest doing that. Wait and get started. You are going to be given material to study by your CFI. He can also suggest something that isn't necessarily part of the curriculum.
-
Those other sims you mentioned have the aircraft you want and the flight model is better anyway, not to mention all the proper approaches, plates and other charts. It doesn't make sense to do GA aircraft here. The ones that are actually needed are already not being done. ED is all over the place with aircraft and there is no organization. It's a free for all, do what you want, let everyone piece it together.
-
Approaches don't work properly in here anyway, so it's a moot point.

You should know this if you're in BF. One, if you can't select an aircraft at a specific airfield or farp, you don't own it. Two, there is a map/website that shows the current situation at all times. -

BSS_Sniper replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Too bad, IMO. I and many others would prefer to keep things as realistic on that realm as possible. You should know what you're shooting at because you're IFF'ing, right? If you're just firing blind, you're doing it wrong. We don't need arcade kill messages, just like we don't need the messages telling us who's taking off from where and when.
