  1. See this thread http://www.military-meshes.com/forum/showthread.php?7117-Our-6-years-work-for-simulators-). Looks like they were originally developed for Battle of Moscow (the cancelled sequel to Cliffs of Dover). As Silver Dragon says, appears they became the property of 777 presumably for BoS (could fire it up and see if they match but meh).
  2. Kickstarter will say something like you backed this project if you did and if you are really unsure if your money was transferred, you're probably best checking with your bank to be honest. If you used the same email address for registering with kickstarter as you did here for your main ED account (e-shop), then your rewards for backing KS should automatically transfer over here. To check this: 1. Go to the ED main page. To get there you can click on the DCS banner at the top of the forum or follow this link http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/ 2. On left log in (with your e-shop login (not necessarily the same as your forum account details)) 3. On left click on Personal Section -> Backers Page 4. See rewards If you have trouble with access see the stickied thread in this subforum titled "No access to backers section on DCS Page? Read this!" http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=124949

  4. Really nice videos, watched them lots and lots and makes me appreciate what we have with the DCS module. Regarding the oil cycle seen in the vid, I think I picked up somewhere that this is done more so when the aircraft is sitting idle for long periods in-between run-ups as opposed to active P51s. Might be wrong though.
  5. All sorts of wrong :megalol:
  6. You can launch your standalone (non-Steam) version of DCS through Steam (if you have it) as a non-Steam game and then use the F12 to take screenshots (or whatever button you have bound). Alternatively, you could use video capture software e.g. Fraps to take screenshots.
  7. Great find David. Really hope aircraft visibility in DCS can be looked at by the devs, it's vital for ww2 era combat.
  8. Page 71 of the P-51 PDF manual describes the position of all 3 fuel gauges; the wing tank gauges are in the cockpit floor, either side of your seat, and the fuselage gauge is behind the seat on the pilot's left side (manual can be found C:\... \DCS World\Mods\aircraft\P-51D\Doc). Whilst grass take offs/landings are more tricky than the concrete runways they are very possible, just needs a little practice. Tip - I know this may sound counter-intuitive, but try turning off 'take-off assistance' in options -> special -> P-51 tab. It does corrections for you and you can end up fighting it/it fighting you during take-offs & landings and many find it much better with this off. Inboard guns have more ammo than the others which you had probably drained.
  9. The shortcut on a UK keyboard it is L.alt + @ On a US keyboard it should be L.alt + ; (I think... I don't have a US keyboard) As Mobuis says, you can always go through the radio and contact ground crew (UK keyboard it's the # key where-as on US keyboard it's the \ key)
  10. Thanks for posting those pics Krupi, had another great day on the server, lots of fun and so many good fights.
  11. Backers page seems to be up - selected all my aircraft and got a Dora key :pilotfly:
  12. Happy with this - I backed the KS primarily so WW2 aircraft and map would be made, freebies were always a bonus
  13. Silly question, but have you double checked your wheel brakes are set correctly? For example with the saitek rudder pedals everyone I know (including myself) have to invert our toebrake axis otherwise they are on when you aren't pushing them/ off when pressure applied (opposite of how they should be). Probably a long shot but if they are reversed it might explain why you are having trouble setting the parking brake??
  14. As far as I understood things DCS WW2 it would function like DCS:W - a free to download map and we would buy modules to use in it. Here is a quote from the kickstater main page: Since the DCS:W P-51 (and FW-190) were to be cross-compatible with DCS WW2, if you already own the P-51 you wouldn't have to pay anything to use it in DCS WW2. Whether the situation changes since the kickstarter project failed, who knows, but I'm sure if there is a change of plan ED will let us know.
  15. Just fyi, a right click (rather than a left click) will move the mixture lever directly from idle to run. Left clicking cycles the lever left (idle > emergency rich > run) and right to the right (idle > run > emergency rich). Glad you got it sorted Bear.
  16. Hi Bear, I've uploaded a short video to youtube of me climbing past the 15,000ft point and above that you can look at, maybe it will help. It's only just gone up and should be available in 720p. The video starts with me at ~6,500ft and I cut it short at ~18,000ft, a little after the supercharger comes on, for a quick upload to youtube but can upload a full length video if you are struggling. I try to maintain roughly a 2000ft/min climb rate and my speed starts around 200mph IAS drops to around 160mph IAS by ~11,000ft which I maintain thereafter. Not sure if this is the proper method (e.g. best sustained rate of climb) but I climbed up ok and reached 33,000ft before the Mustang started to struggle a bit. Like you I try to maintain 46MP and 2700rpms in the climb. I didn't check the % fuel load but you can see at 7 second mark I have ~75 gallons in both left and right tanks (the video starts a couple of minutes into the flight). Both radiators are kept on automatic for the entire flight, carburettor air control to ram air and normal (i.e. not hot air). I set and constantly adjusted my trim (rudder, aileron, and elevator) throughout the climb and am pretty much flying hands off. Obviously setting trim and keeping the ball centred will help in the climb. I'd double check your settings and maybe speak to the guys in your class that are able to climb up to 36,000ft. Bounder.
  17. +1 David. I'm not bothered either way and would hope ED are able to pick what ever option is best in their mind. I can see what some are saying, that having a free combat capable aircraft is more attractive for people to try out. But I also think that giving away a high fidelity aircraft worth ~200K(?) might not be financially viable. Whilst the SU-25 is free, it isn't at a PFM and ASM level that the DCS WW2 birds will be modelled at. When the DCS WW2 project was in the planning phase I don't believe the TF-51 was available - now that it is it makes a lot of sense to offer it as the free flyable. For me it all simply comes down to what ever works best for ED, I hope they are not tied into providing a free P47 etc if they'd rather not.
  18. +1 Although extras were offered at the level I backed, the reason I put my money down was to support the project. Given what has happened, if there is a choice between a member of the dev team spending days writing a strategy guide or working on the sim, it's the latter for me every time. Likewise, if the costs of printing and binding extras like manuals, strategy guides, t-shirts etc will significantly reduce the budget for the development of the aircraft and map, I know which I'd rather not have.
  19. First you need to have the battery on to provide power to the electrical systems (bat disc on the electrical panel). Then to turn on the gunsight: (1) There is a switch in front and to the left of your flight stick, under the magnetos labelled "Guns" - flick the switch to the up position (to "guns, camera & sight"). (2) there is a black knob on the left hand side of the cockpit, above and in front of the throttle lever, labelled "fixed/fixed & gyro/gyro" - click this and cycle between the static sight or K14 sight (or both sights together). Lastly, (3) under that knob there is a switch labelled on/off - this alternates the K14 gyro sight between being fixed and active.
  20. Whilst I agree with the OP about engine management being very realistic I don't agree about the damage model for the engine being simple at all. Whilst in combat I can, often frequently, get my governor damaged which will end my merlin after a short while I also notice that partial damage can occur and I'm not getting full rpm and/or MP and I can limp away back to base if I'm lucky. Whether that's due to hits or overheating I couldn't say. In my experience there is a lot of minor damage that can be inflicted upon my merlin in DCS and it's anything but either 'fully working or not working at all'. Whilst visual effects are definitely lacking for the DCS P51, there are audible sounds as the engine overheats. They are subtle but they are there. Tbh the DCS P51 has imo the best engine damage model of the sims I play (original IL2, Cliffs, BoS) - the damage model for the rest of the a/c is a little lacking compared to Cliffs for example and so are the visual effects but the actual engine DM is far better. Maybe it's a case of my comparing the engine DM to those games and maybe the OP is comparing it to something more complex?
  21. Whilst I'm personally not that bothered about an update every week, near on six weeks of hearing nothing is a little worrying and it would be nice to hear something since weekly updates were promised as part of the kickstarter. We know from Sithspawn that work is continuing and there are no problems but the blackout in communications obviously worrying many. Luthier seems to be shooting himself in the foot with community relations and it's over something that to me seems quite minor and easily remedied. Whilst Luther's communication of late hasn't been great, the above is simply untrue - the account Luthier posts under on the DCS forums (Luthier1) has at least 17 posts in 2014 that I can see from a quick view of the history. Whether that's good enough is another thing but we should be fair to the man and though I'm sure it's unintentional, false info like that helps no-one.
  22. Sounds like you chaps had a lot of fun, really nice write up and photos, hope to make one of the DoW events in the future... if the gf will let me stay up late enough that is!
  23. The reward is listed as: "Estimated delivery: Sep 2014" which was the estimated release date for DCS WW2, so I'd guess you will get your aircraft then. My guess is based on the date listed and that it doesn't describe getting a DCS world aircraft early like the similar pledge level "DCS World Tier 1". But that's just my guess, maybe someone in the know can help.
  24. Agree 100% with David, difficultly settings should be server controlled so everyone is on a level playing field. A level playing field is crucial for online gaming. People can then join which server they want depending the difficulty settings (just like in every other flight sim).
