I find a rotary encoder gives almost one to one rotation in synch with the virtual trim knob.

Could be that your Rift can't see it's sensor. I have to swing my sensor round when I use my cockpit from it's usual position for other gaming. If I forget, I get a similar tracking problem.

How can I fly in VR (HTC Vive) without seeing my keybord?
Lensman replied to luftfisch's topic in Virtual Reality
I find a track-ball mouse works really well for cockpit clicking in VR. Stays in one place so easy to find. -
I think what you need to do is go to 'monitor' in the setting screen and select 'stereo'. This will give you 'side by side' stereo output. The VR setting is for headsets like Rift and Vive.

CH Pro Throttle Erratic Behavior

I had one some years ago with a similar problem. I fixed it by opening it up and tightening the spade terminals to the main pot. Hope that helps. Cheers Dave -
LMS for VR is this something ED could implement?
Lensman replied to StandingCow's topic in Virtual Reality
I find it amusing too. I guess we are all looking for different experiences in flight simming. My enjoyment is getting as close to the real experience of flying an aeroplane as I can. I have a full size Spitfire cockpit and the Rift complements this beautifully. Others will have different priorities like becoming a combat ace and getting to the top of a leader board. -

Have you seen this? https://www.getfove.com/?gclid=CjwKEAjw_PfGBRDW_sutqMbQsmMSJAAMpUapBaXIK62w9mXZzmGBfkCCF926Nvg25uX6WfR0G087sBoC8urw_wcB -

Hmmm..have I missed the live stream?

Indeed, though the edge is there if you look for it, the overwhelming feeling of being in the cockpit makes you forget it. It's a bit like wearing flying goggles anyway.

You can check out Oculus demo locations here: https://live.oculus.com/search/your-location Cheers

Thanks guys. Yep, I've mapped the Reset VR View to button on my quadrant. My aircraft of choice is the Spitfire and the default viewpoint seemed spot on for me. Compared very well to a recent experience of sitting in a Spit at the Hendon RAF museum. If I want to 'lean back' a tad I find you can lean forward, tap the reset view button, then sit back. I'm also very pleased that the controls and switches of my 'nearly scale' Spit cockpit come to hand/finger very well. All that's missing is a view of my hand! Good advice about turning the FPS counter off. Cheers for the welcome to the VR Club!

Just got my Rift. First of all, what you have all heard before, I'm blown away by the experience, far exceeds my expectations. Just a quick settings question. In DCS graphics settings do I still set to my desktop resolution (1920x1080) or is there a different recommended setting for the Rift? Cheers Dave

Advice on engine management in dogfight?
Lensman replied to jasonstory44's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
The manufacturer has thoughtfully stuck a label on the right side of the cockpit with all the RPM/Boost recommended numbers. -
Where can I find latest CH product drivers?
Lensman replied to uboats's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The only CH product that needs the Control Manager software to run is the Multi Function Panel. -
This is weird. I am using a Sidewinder FFB2 and my Spitfire trims out perfectly in 1.5 without having to check any of the Force Feedback trim settings shown in a petsild's post. HOWEVER, I just updated 2.0 Alpha including the Spitfire update and there the trims are all over the place. I tried various settings, swapping/inverting but couldn't find a solution. Correction. After some more delving I can confirm that checking the 'swap axis' does indeed correct the pitch trim. My bad.

Force Feedback - Which device(s) do you use?
Lensman replied to Flagrum's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
MS Sidewinder FFB2 with Spitfire spade grip mod. 3 spares in attic. -
select correct cell (as you have in your screenshot), then click 'add'. Now move the rudder pedals back and forth a few times until they are registered. For some reason, my CH pedals are slow to register, yours may be the same.
-
Ah, sorry, my bad. I didn't catch your reference to 'lower end pedals'. Mine are the Pro Pedals. I didn't realise there was an alternative device. Anyway, the 'official' disassembly guide for the 'Pro' pedals stresses that you should start by removing the pedals, then releasing the main body screws and lifting the top to reveal the inner workings. Cheers Dave

A bit of advice if you are considering taking the CH pedals apart. Don't be tempted to go in from the bottom. I did, and after removing the base screws and prising the case apart was entertained by a blizzard of springs, axles and other parts, leaping out from the interior! Go in from the top, removing the pedals first. An excellent instruction sheet is available on the CH forum. http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php/files/file/317-ch-products-pro-pedals-disassembly-guide/ You'll need to register with the forum to snag it tho' Cheers.
