Radar gunsight in ANT does not calculate sufficient lead.
some1 replied to Snappy's topic in Bugs and Problems
More like lack of attention from developers. There are also several modules that got it right, including WWII warbirds. -
You haven't paid for MiG-19S either. Relax, that's just how WIP model can look like in early stages of development.
-
I think he's asking about supporting HDR displays, and yes, these can display both more colors and brighter lights than regular, SDR monitors. Although I'm not sure what does it have to do with DCS Clouds and Weather System.
-
No, because you've edited it after you've posted. If she's really so focused on being labelled as a woman in a game where you can't tell a man from a woman most of the time, then I don't think I can offer much help. It's possible to set the pilot photo in the logbook, and set the name of the pilot, maybe that could be useful.
-
How can you tell if that thing on the screenshot is a male or a female? Seriously, with the helmet, mask and all the gear a pilot has to carry, you won't be able to tell. Even if ED puts a different model and calls it "female".
-
Only in the last few years they accepted first women for training, who are graduating by now. (https://www.iwoaw.org/women-aviation-news/advocacy/after-a-nearly-80-year-hiatus-russian-women-can-be-fighter-pilots-and-aircraft-technicians-again/) So for the time period and airframes simulated in DCS, no female pilots in Soviet/Russian aircraft is pretty much as accurate as it could be. As for the F-16, the aircraft still doesn't have any pilot body in the cockpit, so a female model is probably very low on priority list.

Confusion? SteamVR vs OpenXR?? OpenComposite??? 8)
some1 replied to RealDCSpilot's topic in Virtual Reality
Taking a break from time to time and not making the game run your life is always a good idea. But in this case you can really just add --force_steam_VR to your DCS shortcut and it will make the game run exactly like it did before the patch, using the same tools and settings. -

If you did not use reprojection prior to the patch, install "Open XR tools for Windows Mixed Reality", install "OpenXR Toolkit", and start playing with new tools and tweaks. Just do not turn on reprojection anywhere, because DCS will hang/crash. If you used reprojection prior to the patch, go back to stable for now, or run DCS.exe with --force_steam_vr parameter which makes it talk to VR software like it did before the patch, using SteamVR API. -

Yep, as usual the ultimate solution to multiple standards and APIs, was to create yet another API (OpenXR). At least, as you've said, this time it looks like there's a chance to make it right. Anyway, no point in <profanity>ting on WMR for SteamVR so much. It had its share of problems in the past, but these were solved and nowadays the performance is on par with other options. Now it's mostly a matter of preference of which tools and features you prefer to use https://forum.dcs.world/topic/177566-windows-mixed-reality-discussion-only/?do=findComment&comment=5127608 -
Auto means the reprojection is off, at least for DCS. I really wish OpenXR devs cleared the mess with these options names once and for all. For the current beta, your only option to get the reprojection going is to use --force_steam_vr command line parameter which will cause the game to run like it used to, either through openComposite and OpenXr, or through SteamVr and Wmr for SteamVr app.
-
The name of this parameter is slightly misleading, its not that it forces SteamVr, but it forces the game to use SteamVr interface (OpenVR) instead of the new OpenXR

Has the Open Beta Just Switched to OpenComposite?
some1 replied to Hempstead's topic in Virtual Reality
That's my open beta folder. I don't have stable installed. -
If you want to still use SteamVR, an easier option is to use the command line parameter to start DCS: DCS.exe --force_steam_VR This will bypass OpenXR completely and switch back to native SteamVR implementation in DCS. At least for the time being, don't know how long ED will maintain it.

Hmm, the command line options works here. I even got the vrperfkit working. Just the fact that turning reprojection on completely breaks DCS now shows you how little attention and testing was involved. -

As mentioned in the other thread, it's possible to bring back the old native support for SteamVR using command line parameter. Good that it was left as an option, at least for the time being. -
Thanks. That indeed makes DCS start like it used to and makes the old tweaks like VRperfkit work too.
-
It's possible in certain scenarios: flat shadows put more load on CPU, high shadows put more load on GPU.

You can also force SteamVR back for troubleshooting. Start SteamVR->settings->Developer->click "set steamVR as OpenXR runtime" and restart the game. -
Would you kindly include things like that in the changelog next time? Thank you.

Same, DCS is now using OpenXR and not OpenVR. At least with Reverb G2 WMR headset. Strange that such change has been made with zero mention in the changelog.
-
I agree that the gunsight currently does not provide enough lead even if the target is turning at a meagre 2 or 3 g. The bullets always fly behind the target, until you get so close that the error does not matter any more.

To my knowledge F-4 variants will be separate purchases (at least the Navy and USAF variants), while Aerges planned several variants from the beginning and priced their product accordingly from the start. Whatever money Beczl/Leatherneck/Magnitude made from all the sales over the years, it's probably not enough to fund another variant for free. Also, other MiG-21 variants are indeed quite different from each other and would have to be treated basically as separate airplanes, especially the three that you've mentioned.
-
I know it's a bit late, but thanks. And congratulations. Of all the developers that had this issue reported in their aircraft at the same time (ED, Heatblur, Razbam, Leatherneck), to this day you're the only team that fixed it.

reported earlier igla missiles way way too weak. Tested

If anyone's interested, here's a short track presenting AI CH-47 that survived: - three hits with IGLA followed by: - six hits with Vihkr followed by: - multiple hits with 30mm HE I put him on fire - twice - yet he was still able to pull manoeuvres that put Ka-50 agility to shame. I don't think IGLA warhead damage is our only problem here... immortalCH47.trk
