  2. on the same note, knowing they are making something new is better than not, they could just not say they're working on anything right now, and then one day we get a surprise.
  3. yeah I need my fix too, Haven't flown the mig-21 in combat on DCS in a while thanks to the loadouts being totally broken...
  4. 980ti is significantly faster than a 680, the only way you'll be getting the same performance with it as a 680 is if you're using higher settings either inside dcs, or outside dcs in the nvidia control panel... the grass/foliage and trees in 1.5 seem to bring any card down to its knees, i suggest turning those two things to minimum and seeing what happens.

  8. Yeah the new controls aren't so great, I don't mind the afterburner and airbrake controls being changed, but the rest is just... err... well it was better before... I can't bind flaps and gear properly to my stick so I have to use the keyboard and mouse, and the air restart switch is permanently in the on position and doesn't function.
  9. Use the in-game profiler, you need to save profiles for axis, and buttons, so two for each controller, the throttle is a totally seperate controller from the stick, their both seperate from the keyboard, so to save your stick profile, click on an axis or button in the x-55 stick category, then save it, then to save your throttle profile, click on a button or axis in the throttle category and save it. yes, you need to set controls for every plane, all the fc-3 planes really could just be 1 profile, since their all simplified down to the point where they basically use the same number of keys for the same systems, even if iconography, locations and names are slightly different visually in the cockpit... but their not 1 profile... but for the non-fc3 planes, there are enough differences between them that, although there are still a lot of controls you can set the same for every plane, you do need seperate profiles for them. unplugging your stick and throttle won't affect profiles, just make sure to plug them in before you start dcs.
  10. Unless it's a grom, even a pair of R-60s on a single pylon isn't really enough weight to make flying uncomfortable, and the autopilot mode does, as redshot says, keep your wings level for you...
  11. Nope there's no missile launch tone... there's just the tracking tone, a general lock tone, and a lock tone if you're being locked by a super strong radar, or many radars at once's combined signal strength... I wish i could read russian... http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/ebooks/SPO-10(1976).djvu
  12. ok so yeah, that first manual says there are two lock tones, one for the ground controlled approach , and one air or ground radar locks... i guess that makes sense.
  13. Doesn't even need to be the full upgrade package, just the RWR from it would be a huge massive upgrade.
  14. Yes you're right, there is a different sound, it's like a louder, more insistent lock tone, but I've only heard it a few times. I think it only makes that sound when it detects certain kinds of missile launches or radar locks, I don't know what ones. If it were real life i'd say only active missiles / radars that the rwr knows for sure are missiles/sam launchers (programmed into the rwr), but since it's dcs, it could be anything.
  15. Hmm most days of most months are mig-21 days for me... I kill lots of f-15s... and su-27s... mig-29s... etc...
  16. Well... in DCS, turning on the 2nd(emergency) afterburner below 5000m gives you a big acceleration boost, a higher rate of climb, and allows you to get all the way up till 1400kph IAS, where the engine cuts out and needs to be re-lit, even with missiles and a drop tank. it shuts off by itself if you climb above 5000m, and if you don't flip the switch back to off, it'll turn back on as soon as you dive below 5000m. just keep an eye on your fuel (or lack thereof)
  17. oh man that would get confusing quick... what one is the bad guy in this picture? the nice thing about warfare in the 1960s is the allies used their own planes... DCS needs some century series fighters, and definitely the f4, Draken and mirage III, for good opponents for the mig-21
  18. I made it back to base, landed, repaired, took off again lol..
  19. this was a really fun one.
  20. For the first mission, the tour one, try climbing to 11500m and holding your speed at mach 2 till you get to the coast, then do a shallow dive at 80% ish throttle the rest of the way back.
