We don't need more aircraft we need more sim. The weather and clouds are beyond bad, the atc has been broken for over a decade and the ai is still terrible. Will we have to wait ten years to get the clouds looking slightly better?

Honestly the clouds and weather in DCS are abominable.

The Mig 21 is the business, hope to see more love given to it.

Yeah, has weather ever been done right in a flight sim? It's such a large part of flying, yet virtual pilots never really get to tangle with it.

Thank's for pointing that out. There's always a way if there's a will, designing a global map would obviously involve a different design methodology. We will we end up with a myriad of maps we can buy? It feels clumsy.

I already stated what the other thing was. Do i need to tell you to go back and read it again? I'm not afraid, a world map is not impossible. It was stated as an ultimate goal as well. Looking forward to it, to be honest. Can't come soon enough, the current model is archaic i feel. Using the current method to create a whole globe would not be the best way to go, there are other ways.....

So strange to hear people complaining about the MiG21, it's just about the only aircraft i fly. Reasons why? It's non FBW, which means it feels good to fly. It's got character, gentle on the controls, exciting landing, getting performance out of the aircraft requires skill and experience and that is satisfying. It's capable if flown properly. If FBW and active missiles is your thing, it's not for you. If flying and fightin is your thing then get it, it's beautiful. Not sure about the Mirage it's been a long time since i flew it, but it used to have a pretty bad flight model, and that sucks the fun out of it. Not sure if Razbam have fixed it, or if they are capable of the high quality fm Dcs is known for. It left a bad taste in my mouth and i still need to be convinced they are capable of a quality fm.

Theaters; So the Caucasus are getting old, and small, it would help if there were some airbases in Turkey or out on the west, as it's tactically limited at the mo. It seems that these different theater modules are fragmenting the online experience. Nevada and Normandy look particularly quiet. Paying for theater's seems a bit over the top after the cost of all the modules, the sooner we get to one unified (hopefully global) theater the better. Need to be online. Why can we not fly our modules after being offline for two days? Why? Makes no sense at all and is an insult to us who have spent hundreds on this sim and put up with all it's idiosyncrasies.

Just chiming in after a few hours trying to dogfight in the MiG21 Bis. Just very difficult to see my opponent, so many times im right behind him, muck around flipping a switch, look back gone, never seen again. My impression is that everything in Dcs is a bit blurry/hazy, there's little contrast and that's what makes it hard to spot other aircraft. The graphics have always had that 'im so pretty' look to it and it's a problem. Like a gal with way too much make-up. On a positive note, flying the MiG21 is great fun :)

Is there any info out there about how to parse mission files? I'm figuring that's all that is stopping me from making my own 'campaign generator'. Thx for any help.

I must protest. I have slain many a foe in dogfights whilst flying the MiG21 online. Now the Vietnamese didn't have many MiG21's so they used them very conservatively. The trick is, 1) Don't reverse, keep your turn going, forever... 2) The basics - Lift vector on the bad guy and fly to the aircraft's limits. 3) Emergency afterburner, use it. It wont kill your engine while your in a turn fight, and it's a nice kick in the trousers. 4) Wait for the other guy to mess up, which they often do. Basic flying skills are probably the least common skills. I watch F15's and pals wobble all over the place, it's lovely to watch. 5) Scrape whatever alcohol is left from the radar system and share with your comrades. 6) Probably best to avoid an F18, but hey do it anyway.

Its a test bed for them, it will enable them to make better modules in the future. Plus dcs expands a little in scope. I dont see any negatives, only some expectations werent met, and so the whining begins. We all need good stick n rudder skills, a much overlooked aspect of flying these days ;)

Can we still get into trouble with that flight regime or is the saahs upto the challenge? Cheers.

Just wondering, does the av8b suffer from the nasty wing over tendencies as other harriers? Afaik, in the hover, due to intake compressor drag, the harrier could roll over suddenly which would tend to be fatal. Theres a good discussion of it on the pprune site.

I would like to know more about the harrier fm. Its an Afm not a pfm right? The main reason i play dcs is because the fm's are so realistic, mi8, mig15, sabre etc etc... So how realistic is the harrier fm? I know the mirage had issues for a long time so im skeptical. I see a lot of modules in the works for razbam, im just worried dcs will start filling up with mediocre flight models which may break the magic for me. Ive seen the new harrier video and there is no mention of the fm, just 'oh wow it looks good and has shooty things on it'. A concerned hard core dcs fan.

Golly! The 'bug' was me it seems, I had checked the key assignments earlier under general settings and they were kosher. I went into su27 keys and found them empty for chat, so assigned them and now 'im okay'. Sorry to waste your time, kind regards.

Yea they are correct, at times I can use chat within the first few minutes of joining a server, then it locks out, that is it will stay closed or stay open depending on how I left it.

Never used any mods, the chat still doesn't respond for me. Have the latest version.

K so i cant find operation backfire on your website. I was trying to do transport missions in the Mi8, but how? I have no idea, i contacted the farp it had no option to load on equipment or anything. Appreciate some help. ~S~

He unloaded the aircraft there. Hows you aerodynamics knowledge? I'm no genius but it seems to me that roll is very much alpha dependent. Anyways i might be digging up old posts didn't realise.

It's been consistent with the new patch. I had a mig21 activation to do, and after about ten, fifteen minutes into a mission on the 104th fps drops to 2, then it freezes up.
