4K only if you have a bigger screen, 32" and above. For 27" go for 2k monitor and 144Hz.
-
subscribe to dburne: SLI is already a dead technology. It will be replaced by DX12 which in theory will be able to combine any two or more GPUs, no matter of that type. SLI support was always quite poor and now it remains more like a legacy. DCS itslef does not really use SLI features very well... i used to have a SLI in the past and changed to 1080Ti for more success.

@peplum: this was not about the screen finishing but the characteristics that drives them. 144Hz will not be understood until is seen...
-
Well... the refresh rate is more visible when you are looking around with your headtracker for example. Stable 50 FPS @ 60Hz is good enough, fully agree with you... but when you are turning your head the scenery is blurred until the end of head transition... well... a faster Hz monitor is compensating that transition quite substantially so that even some possible headaches are minimized. I can say in a way that could be similar with what VR did from 60 to 90Hz... I do speak based on my personal experience, owning 2 computer setups. I even go further and tell you that in I7 6xxx series with and GTX1070 and 2k@144Hz monitor runs and feels a lot smoother then an i7 4xxx series with a GTX 1080 and 4K @ 60Hz monitor (but played at 2k resoulion just for the sake of comparison). Both monitors are G-Sync TNs.

144Hz is a must have... G-Sync only if you will have above above those 144Hz. But yes, 144Hz and G-Sync if you can afford is far more better than 4k @ 60Hz and G-Sync. The image is more fluid on fast switchting monitors. I have opted for a Dell 27" TN, 144 Hz... for my son setup :). I am still on 4K but seriously considering to go back to 2k.... will see....

Upgrading my PC need some assistance
Abburo replied to granola1861's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just a short comment regarding compatibility. My rig have an i7 4770 oc@4.4GHz and a GTX1080 Strix. Guess what, my son's rig with I7 6770K oc@4.5 GHz and GTX1070 Strix is generally 20% faster than mine. So that, this is a short example of non-adequate component matching. Again, make an effort and get rid of everything. Sell that old unit. You will thank yourself later. :) -
Upgrading my PC need some assistance

Don't preserve anything, it is a old computer and electronics have their lifetime. Buy a new PC... just that! Even the new PC cases are more ergonomic than the old ones. -
Downloaded 2.1 Can't Activate Normandy Map;
Abburo replied to lennycutler's topic in Payment and Activation
in order that command work you need to change the directory to the DCS install path -> bin. Then you can run dcs_update as per previous recomandation. It works for sure unless you really want a refund... in this case it will not work :D -
Means that Mustang FM feels changed to ?
-
+1 .. it feels different
-
Normandy, few bugs solved, new bugs introduced and the left wing for F18 for today :pilotfly:
-
2.1 will be the version. It was previously stated several times.

No FFB ... and nothing official to be released . But there is a topic for a DIY FFB functionality (programming and hardware build) that is currently evolving in this forum. I also hope one day to have a Gunfighter with FFB.... until then I am sure that VKB have the best joystick option in the market... at least for now.
-
So, as Quadq emphasize here... you better wait for Gunfighter with MCG which seems to be the best allrounder joysitck platform nowdays. Better then Warthog also.
-
Indeed, however MCG Pro is making me to wait more...
-
Me, tried both, and also a Logitech G940. Warthog is more precise of course, MSFFB2 and G940 more immersive for WW2 planes and helis. For your case I would recommend you wait until autumn and buy a Gunfighter with MCG Pro handle. Warthog have some strange behavior on centering, so that transition through middle requires some extra forces to be applied (I am not very happy with this) . FFB should be a must have, unfortunately not available on any new product.

That was a great one :)... I might miss checking the site in last week .. ??? :)) Thanks a lot!

+1 Waiting for the same update as you.

Thrustmaster TWCS throttle - slew settings?
Abburo replied to Schmidtfire's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I chose to make a hardware change and replace that button with a Wii nunchcuk minijoystick attached to a Leo Bodnar controller. Now is very accurate and I am not using any curves, dead-zones, etc. Found that Wii pots are very good. -
what are you looking for ? Your message says nothing.
-
Close enough ... but not exact. First 10 activation are not related to a time interval to be used. They could be done within 1 week or within 10 years. Don't forget you have 10 deactivation too... which are raising up to 20 installations, time agnostic also. Only after you have consumed the above you will receive one activation per month. It is not correct that one activation will be restored monthly while you still have few of them remaining.
-
I think you are not considering upgrade in the correct order. What can you do with a Rift or a 4K monitor for example when you are still on 770 card. I am not saying 770 is not good, I am saying that it is not up to those standards... so you might have a perfomant screen which will be used at 10%. Think again and think right ;) !

3rd Party Dev Group - Dedicated to Maps Only
Abburo replied to yellow_jacket's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Tools for map creation are not yet released to any 3rd party, as David mention above also. That is the simple reason why we don't have yet other maps. VEAO and Leatherneck already express their intention to create maps, but this is not yet possible. ED is transforming their terrain from so called T2 (Caucasus) to T3 (Nevada) and T4 (Normandy and hopefully future Caucasus). Those Ts are coming from versioning I suppose. So that is pretty visible that they are still on transition phase... maybe until reaching DCS 2.5 -
