Winrar and 7zip will open .rar files. 7zip is free and IIRC, Winrar costs a little but there is a free version or a demo that you can get.

Maybe its because I have grown up in a completely digital world, but its a pain in the butt for me to tell time by looking at hour and minute hands. Even if there is an analog clock in front of my face, I'm going to pull out my cell phone and look at its time display if I need to know what time it is. Just my thoughts, that not maybe some people are like me and automatically interpret numbers/letters faster than associating analog gauges and dials with the same information.

I thought I read somewhere that the F-15E and the Eurofighter could as well.

Its being retired because the F-22 can now do its job better and faster. I doubt that the B-2 will ever be cheaper than anything.

You can hit incoming missiles with AIM-9's when they are coming straight at you, so they aren't completely useless.

F-15C, plane's record speaks for itself. IMO, its better than any 5th gen plane until those 5th gen fighters fire a shot in anger and prove they are better.

Go with a Intel Core 2 Duo, model depends on our budget. Get 2 gigs of RAM if you are going to run Vista, and the HD really depends on how much stuff you put on your computer. Those are some basics, I'm sure that someone else here will be able to offer much more detailed advice :)

About the Golden Eagles, why are they not considering the F-22's engines? IIRC, they put out 35,000lbs of thrust which is more than the F-15E's engines right?

Can't people play games because they are fun? Do they need to be realistic down to every little detail? I mean, that's why the flight sim community is so small isn't it? Because the average 12 year old and his play station have no idea which versions of the Su-27 can fire R-77's and from which pylons, they just want to fly around in cool fighter jets and shoot missiles at stuff. I have lots of fun play Ace Combat 0 on a 56 inch TV, its just a different experience than LOMAC or another flight "sim."

I am planning on building this computer. How well will this run LOMAC? The computer I have now sometimes struggles with just level flight, so I am aiming for a major improvement.

Not sure about this, as I have just recently figured out keeping my plane headed in the right general direction. Is it better to fly lower than your target so he can't notch (I think that's the term) you or is it better to fly higher so you have longer range? I realize that tactics may change depending on the situation, but is there a general rule?

The Rafale is almost as good looking as a Sukhoi (imo) :)
