  1. Who is his Ed guy people keep talking about? ;)
  2. Another pair of .50 cals.... A big radial engine... And a massive turbocharger behind the cockpit! ;) can't wait for March to get here.... Hope that P-47 module is on time!
  3. I always felt $158k isn't enough for what they want to do... Eagle Dynamics taking over the project is the best thing that could have happened. I think ED can see this through to the end for 3 reasons: 1). The kickstarter backers are just a drop in the bucket of the target demographic. There are tons of people that didn't hear about it in time, or didn't want to pay for something that wasn't a sure thing. 2). They are releasing each module separately instead of one lump package. DCS has already made money off of the P-51. FW-190 is very close to completion. Once it's out they will make money off of it...AND more sales off of P-51 as now there is a WWII community instead of 1 WWII plane in a modern day world. Once the third plane is released, they'll make more money off of it and the previous 2 releases. Each plane breaths new life in the other planes. The profit snowballs. 3). There is no middleman. RRG was dissolved and most employees hired by ED. Now the profit is 100% ED's to do whatever they want with... They no longer have to split it with RRG. I didn't back. I didn't have the money available at the time. I also prefer to walk into a store and pay full price for each module I want when they are available rather than pay a small percentage for multiple planes I really don't care about and then wait.... They'll get my $60 as soon as they release the P-47D-30.... Until then I'll continue to follow the drama with anticipation! I do think this will come to fruition though!
  4. What a shame! A C-130 module would be awesome! Even just a "slick" C-130 would be cool for flying through canyons trying to evade radar while delivering fuel to a FOB. Or a Marine C-130 with the "Harvest Hawk" mod lobbing smart bombs on terrorists. Also.... C-130's would be great to refuel some of these helicopters/F-18s coming out!
  5. I really hope that F-15 driver had track-ir so he could watch helplessly as you spun around and nailed him!
  6. Your forgetting the Mustang MK II that's already out.... And the Thunderbolt MK II that's in the pipeline! The Brits have the most planes scheduled!
  7. I asked this earlier in the thread but it got lost in some discussion.... I have yet to try the P-51 so I don't know (computer is too old to run it).... DCS was originally a modern jet sim.... Does it simulate the air over flight controls that is generated by the prop? Even when a prop plane is stalled and is hanging in the air (0mph indicated airspeed) it still has some degree of control because the prop is pushing air over its flight controls. Most jets, when stalled and hanging in the air, have less control. When at 0mph there is no airflow over flight controls as any thrust is coming out the tailpipe behind them. You can notice quite a big difference even in RC flight. Prop planes have more control at slower speeds compared to jets... You have to keep your speed up on jets. Any ideas if this is modelled?

  9. The block 28 and 30 had minimal differences.... Both were bubbletops. It makes sense to make the block 30 as it was the most produced block. You'd have to go pre block 25 to find a Razorback configuration.
  10. Add me to the P-47M list.... As well as an "N" and a Razorback too! DCS can make quite a lot of money off of me with very little work on their part! Just a few changes here and there!
  11. That's exactly what the Germans did... They dove for speed to escape and then re-engaged. P-47's entered the theater. It was soon realized the P-47 worked well as a high altitude boom and zoom fighter. They would dive on the Germans.... And what did the Germans do? They dove to escape....like they did against the Spits... Unfortunately for them.... No one out dives a heavy brick like a P-47! So the Germans had to change up their tactics!
  12. Pretty sure the Do-335 had an ejection seat.... And that was 1945ish
  13. Here's a man that's spent a decade building an all aluminum 1/3rd scale B-17 that he planes to fly... No rc... It's a real flight worthy mini bomber! http://theballybomber.com
  14. Happy Birthday Thunderbolt! 73 years ago today marks the P-47's first flight!
  15. Who needs blueprints when your working hand in hand with the Fighter Collection and have easy access to flight worthy aircraft?
  16. The P-47N-5 was built some time after the -28, -30, and -40 model P-47's.... But you do bring up a good point about the tail radar. I have read instances of early tail radars being implemented in the -40 models.... Maybe some in the -30 models as well... I'll have to do more research.
  17. Never read such a thing! So six guns were on one circuit breaker while the last two were on another? I have read instances where at a certain number of rounds, tracer rounds were loaded.... Once the pilot started seeing tracer rounds from his aircraft he knew he had "x" amount of rounds left. Very interesting to hear of the circuit breaker... Makes sense. Where did you hear it? I'd like to read more!
  18. Should be one trigger controls all 8 guns.
  19. The Kickstarter said the P-47 was going to be a block 28.... Then one of the updates said it was going to be a block 30.... With these pit pics it looks like its a confirmed P-47D-30.... Check out the compressibility recovery flap switch on the left side!
  20. Awesome!!! Wish I had someone like that to talk too! Would be neat if this P-47 module comes out soon to get him behind the stick and see what he thinks!
  21. This is why I love the P-47 and wish it got the credit it deserves! The P-47 (along with the B-17) broke the Luftwaffe's back flying against their best aces and their best aircraft. The P-47 fought the good fight. However... If DCS makes a "Hell Hawks" campaign I guess I'll forgive them!
  22. According to the update the model may have been changed to the 30 block instead of the proposed 28 block. I'm not sure if the was just a typo or what. It'll be interesting to see if they did indeed change it to the 30 block. It would make since as I believe the P-47D-30 was the single most produced block. It was also the first P-47 model to include "dive flaps."
