  1. Looks like I'll make a "Messerschmitt corner" in a runway before getting the hang of this ;) It does take practice with smooth throttle, slight touch of toe brake and some rudder added in. Should be doable though, P-51 seemed hard at first too.. :music_whistling: ;)
  2. Hmm.. I tried that at one point with no success.. I'll try that again. Edit: that does work but only if cockpit language is set to "english" in DCS Options and the "custom" checkbox is selected. Seems like if language is "russian" then custom selection does not have effect. Thanks for the tip :) Nice! Just what I was looking for! Thanks for this :)
  3. Nice, I'll need to give this a go as well :)
  4. Not sure but would guess refers to same livery selection you have in payload options. I'm still trying to figure out how that all works for the sake of updating the finnish cockpit mod to the new system. Edit: It might be the "language" selection in DCS Options menu but we would need a way to add new languages into that selection somehow.. And if I'm not mistaken only ED can do that at the moment?
  5. Nice one again :)

    Mirage F1

I am much the same way. There are interesting things to in all kinds of aircraft and endless amount of things where people can improve their skills. I am looking forward to both C-101 and F1 from Aviodev as additions to the growing fleet of aircraft in DCS :)
  7. Disabling core C6 state may help also since it seems to be very aggressive in using power-saving state of the CPU: switching off some parts which takes a small delay to bring those parts back up when load is high enough. And I would count DCS as "heavy duty" use of PC so those small things might matter ;)
  8. Same. Also here's little tip to really take maximum out of your PC: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc959492.aspx Forcing kernel and drivers to stay in memory (instead of paging to disk) might seem like theoretical but even with enough memory seems to help, not exactly sure why but performance is more "constant-high" than without it. Disabling WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery service (on Windows 7) with my router/firewall improved latency of network connections for some reason, it should not have effect when WinHTTP is not used by applications but apparently it sometimes does. There's tons of these little things to try when you don't need them, features that only add unnecessary code to execute if they are left enabled. When it seems you have maxed the hardware/budget these kinds of things can help, sometimes it's the small things like Windows suddenly running indexing service which takes all your disk-IO and CPU time..
  9. I think that the rest needs better pictures from the cockpit to be implemented. There's Tikkakoski museum nearby so that might be doable with some free time.. Last time we discussed this it was about plans to change into the label-system Cobra mentioned but this was a bit unclear how it works. Also fixing the labels for the updated cockpit might make more sense with change into that label-system. Sorry for butting in here :)

    I-16

Looks interesting, best of luck to you!
  12. Yep. This might be good idea. If it was reinstalled there's no account information stored so it can't lookup what you should have installed.
  13. No need to copy settings, standalone version will use the same files just fine. Look in \Saved Games\DCS\ You can use modules same way if you already activated them on your computer. I suggest you bind them to your DCS account so the module manager in standalone version will autodetect and install them.
  14. Same here. This is with Adobe Reader XI version 11.0.09
  15. .. or look for instructions on how to update into open beta here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030
  16. To clear things, you mean DCSW with old standalone BS2 (before DCS World was introduced), as not-DCSW module?
  17. You are right about that. Once the integration is done and tested it is very very close to releasing. Maybe I'm just too used to looking at new features.. "Look! Shinyy! -- where was I?" :D
  18. Well, there are preferences so all people might not buy every module I think. I'm one of those who collect everything and try different things in between. It's more of "lateral" approach I think: learn to do one thing with one aircraft, then learn to do the same in others as well. It works better for me not to get too obsessed with one aircraft at a time, better counterpoint to work I guess. I admit it's not the most effective method but suits me.
  19. So many times with some progress news it somehow wears you down I think. Even bits of news used to be huge thing, now that it's getting close it does not have same impact. But just wait until release and people likely go nuts about it again ;)
  20. Way too early for that. AI B-17 is planned for next year at soonest. Edit: without damage modeling it would not be much of target anyway..
  21. Well, support for up to 4 GPUs was listed somewhere as coming features. So I'd expect that means Crossfire/SLI support in some form as well..
  22. Unless new kind of physics are discovered energy requirement would approach infinity or mass would have to approach zero to reach that kind of speed.. Unfortunately if aliens had that kind of technology and that much energy to use they could wipe us out with out us even noticing they've arrived. Movies make it seem so simple.. Fun to think about these things but trying to put them into simulation and still have a fighting chance?
  23. It was about month ago they were on sale in Steam, also during spring and in both summer and winter sales at Steam DCS modules were on discount as well. What more do you want?
  24. Turn off anti-aliasing (MSAA and TSSAA), reduce shadows to low and then check performance. At least with AMD GPU anti-aliasing has huge reduction in performance. Edit: Btw, check if that is high/low "peak" value, loading textures from harddrive can cause huge slowdown "spike" in performance and it should be rare if they are cached in RAM.
