Makes complete sense - I realise that learning the aircraft requires reading the manual. In fact, the required depth of knowledge is one of the main things I like about DCS. One of the main issues for me was hunting for switches that are mentioned fairly briefly. I remember in the A-10 training missions, the switches were highlighted - this would really help the user to match the (unavoidably) acronym laden switch names to their cockpit location. Or perhaps a better description of their location in the cockpit (even just in the text). At the very least, would it be possible that the subtitled text is displayed until you press spacebar, rather than automatically fading out. This time pressure has an exponential effect on the training frustration/complexity. Love the aircraft, and I think the fact that it's a multirole aircraft will really attract people. So these comments are only meant to aid improvement. As, on the whole, the missions are very useful. With the increasing popularity of VR in simming (side note, I was mostly completing these missions non-VR) I think it would be important to design the missions so that people don't need to alt-tab/remove headset for the most part

Just tried the first training mission and unfortunately it leaves a lot to be desired. I found it impossible to complete without cross-checking the manual (several times!). I don't actually particularly mind this, but I think that it could be a significant barrier for other people trying to get into this aircraft.

Mig21’s were designed as quick response interceptors rather than long range CAP. So AAR wasn't really a priority

Love the idea of a full interactive map for DCS with charts and distance measuring tools. As a side note. You might have already seen the really cool interactive topographical map by [FSF]Ian, which merges a DCS surface map with the TAD maps, if not, check it out here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=121105 Touch support is mentioned but I haven't tried it. Would be great to add popup pdf charts to that map

Looks good Hollywood! Cheers!

I previously messed with a lot of settings and found the best FPS for me was also with Vsync enabled, but importantly don't tick the 'disable aero interface' box (not sure why, but makes a measurable difference). However, I haven't tried disabling force-feedback - will give it a go!! Do you know why that makes a difference?

In general, I've noticed a lot of microstutters with 1.2.8. Could it be related to this version?

F22 Lightning 3 had huge nukes. I used to love that game! Screenshots look great, the plane is gorgeous. Hopefully the weather and clouds will get an update though

A great and much needed tutorial, nice one! -
Hi all, I've been pulling my hair out trying to get HELIOS, and numerous other apps/mods (iControl etc.) working with DCS world 1.2.6 A-10C. But to no avail  After searching all over the forums I've followed numerous different lines of enquiry. I've tried a lot of different export.lua files (e.g. loophole & other users' versions) and have placed them in "C:\users\jon\saved games\dcs\scripts\" . I've even completely reinstalled DCS!! Unfortunately, I don't think the export.lua script even gets called/runs. Firstly, is there something I'm missing in getting these export.lua-dependent programs working? Secondly, is there a way of checking whether the script actually gets executed? Thanks in advance for your help, hopefully it's something fairly easy! [EDIT: Reinstalled again with DCS on default drive and seems to work fine, not sure what was going on!] Cheers

Hi everyone I've been trying to get Helios working with DCS world A-10C over the last day or so, but I've had no luck so far  Plus, I've gotten more and more confused by conflicting forum posts. I install everything ok, edit the profile (using administrator privileges) and then run 'Control center'. However, when I start flying in dcs the gauges do not show any data. Would anyone be kind enough to give me a few pointers on how to get it working with the latest DCS world and A-10C modules? Thanks in advance,

Oh man, EF2000 was the first sim I properly flew! I remember constantly studying the manual! This is awesome!

This is rapidly turning into the flight sim I always dreamed of! Absolutely amazing news!

Awesome news, this simulator is going from strength to strength!

Why should i get Combined Arms? I need a bit of convincing!
Elnocho3 replied to MadTommy's topic in DCS: Combined Arms
I said I wouldn't buy it too.....that plan didn't last very long. But it is well worth the money! I can now easily lose myself in single player missions for 3+ :music_whistling: hours! I now actually care about my troops down there, and take it personally when they're getting shot at. Being able to take control of the vehicles is cool, but the new RTS element is the best feature for me! -
Advice on upgrading computer + Corsair H80 noise?
Elnocho3 replied to Elnocho3's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Sorry for the late reply, just want to say thanks to everyone for their advice. Im gonna go with that system then, but with a better graphics card too! Cant wait! Cheers! -
Hi everyone, I'm looking to upgrade my computer very soon.......at long last :) and have a few questions. My main priority is flight sim performance, specifically, DCS-A10C and FSX (PMDG 737NGX+MyTraffic X+Radar Contact+REX....etc.). I don't change computers very often and have about a £700-1000 budget. So I would like to fly with awesome performance now, and have decent performance for the next 3-4 years. Firstly, here's what I was thinking: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) - overclock to 4.2+ghz ASUS P8Z77-V Intel Z77 Socket 1155 DDR3 PCI-Express Motherboard 8GB Mushkin BlackLine Frostbyte 2133 (PC3-17066) EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 2048MB OCZ 240GB Vertex 3 SSD Corsair H80 750W Antec HCP-750 What do you guys think about those specs in general, based on my objectives? Is there any point going for an i7 2600k or i7 3770k for my usage? Secondly, does anyone have any experience with using the Corsair H80? I've read they can be horrendously noisy. Which is putting me off. Any and all comments are welcome!!!

Most definitely yes. Look up the bombing of Dresden for example. Would be a good addition - but can't say I like the weapon, and can't believe derivatives of it are still in use!

Great post by Blaze, completely sums up my concerns regarding opening up DCS to 3rd party aircraft.. All I'm bothered about is having a fair and accurate selection of aircraft. Fair meaning no cheating.
