  1. I have tried around 20 approaches and only managed to hook the wires once, every other time I ended up in the water or back around for another go. I guess the F5 just ain't really naval carrier ops aircraft. Anybody got any tips on technique to hook the wire better?
  2. This aircraft is a nightmare on takeoff and landing, got to be the hardest in DCS. I will try your 20 degrees of flap for TO
  3. GTX 1080 ti works fine with a 3440x1440 as long as the other PC specs are up to scratch etc.
  4. I'm thinking the same. Many aircraft types involved in that conflict and good for combined arms also I think a lot of people would appreciate this theatre of war.
  5. don't think this beast has aileron trim, just use the command for rudder +1 or -1 to fine tune
  6. Pretty sure the F-5 was used a lot in Vietnam, I have a book all about it a lot of talk about Skoshi Tigers seemed to get going around October 1965. Can get the book on amazon it's called F-5 Tigers over Vietnam by Anthony J. Tambini
  7. This has really gotten me into the Normandy map and ww2 era, it's really immersive stuff. Up to now I've really just been an F5 addict!
  8. More imaginative callsigns and personalisation would be a great feature
  9. Be very ginger on the stick, you don’t bleed airspeed in turns anything like when aggressively pulling
  10. Especially as it’s probably the best aircraft to fly in DCS despite it’s lack of power
  11. Something I enjoyed very much years ago and did a good job ta boot was Janes IAF, a fantastic sim from what I remember. I think that this region Syria, Iraq, Turkey, Cyprus, Jordan, KSA, Israel & the Lebanon could be a golden ticket for ED to encompass wide ranging generations of aircraft on one map. Allow simmers to recreate conflicts of past and not so long ago. The thought of joining the maps is an interesting one also I'm guessing the whole project might take a lot of resources over a long period of time. PS Would love to see Mirage III & Apache come online, great machines indeed and both suited to this area of ops.
  12. I couldn't have put it better than Schurem said. I have flown the F5 in DCS basically since it arrived on the scene and it's still by far my most 'go to' aircraft. It's an iconic aircraft that has a very interesting story and has served in more nations air forces than you can shake a stick at. From a practical point of view it flies beautifully with straightforward systems placing all the emphasis on you as the pilot to use your skill to deliver munitions etc. PS I was tempted to get the Mirage 2000 also, I understand your dilemma...
  13. I have pretty much the same issue as the post above so no point in me re-writing. I use a single monitor single player only (gpu gtx 1080ti) and the game freezes after around ten minutes. I do have my gpu slightly overclocked but after reading other peoples experiences I don't think that's the issue.
  14. Would really like to see a Vietnam related campaign. Perfect for the F-5...
  15. As long as you get the trim back a bit and the switch to raise the AoA with full afterburner things seem to consistantly go fine with a heavy load rotating around 150kts. I kept blowing the tyres mainly because I hadn't set an appropriate trim.
  16. For constant military turmoil I think the Middle East has the best mix. Many countries in a relatively small area with a vast array of kit. Would keep us busy for many years to come!
  17. It's gotta be the middle east. Let's face it there's always something kicking off around there plus some diverse scenery. I'm so bored of the current map!
  18. I would be most interested in the middle east and specifically the conflicts that have surrounded Israel in the past. Plenty of scope for the many aircraft types/ground units from the various air forces that abound in that region plus interesting terrain around the Levant. The area is never far off from armed conflict and thus always a topical place to have a flight simulator game. Lots of historical sporadic conflicts (6 day, Yom Kippur etc.) to have games within the game also. Map can be expanded readily north and east toward Iran, Iraq and Turkey. Better to do one region really well than have a vast array of places with less detail and involvement for the player.
