I'm not at work right now, just started the day. Tell you what, post a track of your attempt at level-turning the academic way, and I'll see what you're doing wrong. I'll even redo the track for you. Someone will probably do it before me, even. On a sidenote, you must remember that: -yaw and roll inputs should be back to neutral before you reach your desired heading. Otherwise you'll have to compensate the over steering. That usually ends in a not so smooth transition. -Watch your trim inputs closely. Especially regarding the rudders.

Superior maneuvrability? Compared to the shark, it's a brick. And what good would be your 270° radius when explosive 30 mm shells dismember your antiquity from a distance? :p The only chance for a huey vs a KA would be to close in unnoticed. There, the miniguns radius can make a difference.

Indeed. Not only you'll have some fun, but it's also a good way to dig deeper in the sim: it will help you understand some systems connections, what does what, and so on. If you really wanna get hardcore, do the whole startup as described in the manual, including systems tests. After that you'll feel like your in your kitchen. Anyway, the mission start looks strange, on the editor. I wonder if it has a supported the new patches well. I'm no editor guru, mind you, but something is kind of fishy. The way the helo group is dispatched on the airport is awkward.

The track will definitely help. For some reasons, some missions do force different mappings than the ones currently active. It could be anything, axis or keystroke. I struggled with my trackir during a solo mission, as its roll axis was reversed. It was specific to the mission. BTW, if you know the startup proc, give it a go and click aroud. I'm sure it would solve that for you.

(Hey Smokey (Julian), I like your work. Is the guitar finished?) My main actual guitar is an american deluxe Telecaster, this one exactly: I have others, too. I don't use an amp anymore, at least until now, since my neighbours would probably hate me, very much. In the meantime, I use a Line6 pod. But I'd love to get my hands on a Blackstar HT Stage 60. Here's my Bandcamp page, btw. It's kind of experimental/indus, be warned. Any link to your music, peeps?

That was quite a thrill, thanks for sharing that with us! Kind of glad to know that this close-to-take-a-swim edge approach made you uncomfortable. While watching I was all "crapcrapcrapcrapstopdammitSTOP", while the rational side of me kept asserting that it was surely perfectly normal and all under control.

Idle position on TM Throttle fails to power engines
tsumikae replied to terminatahx's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Do you actually see the hotas 3D model move, when pushing your warthog to idle? If the answer is yes, it might sound dull, but try to execute the move slowly, very gently (off to idle). Not snail slow, but avoid being too quick/harsh. -
After flying DCS, I don't want to go back to Il2

First, welcome! In not so long, there should be plenty of stuff and real people to shoot at in your machine ;) -
Multiplayer few years ago and now - from FC 1.12b to DCS

Fully agree. I realize some stuff I wrote could be taken the wrong way: I never intended to label anyone. I did say that FPS were no brainers, not that FPS players had no brain, for instance. My point was only about the level of commitment required. And there I stand my ground: hardcore sims are more demanding than FPS. Weither you are good or bad at any of those is not the question. -

I'd be a hyprocrit to pretend I didn't mean that. But truth is, the learning curves of both categories are a bit different, wouldn't you say? Not everyone has the will and/or time to commit himself into a complex sim. It's a fact that FPS are casual. It was really meant as an answer to Lazarus' "They require dedication, knowledge, and effort needed to get good, on a level that FAR exceed this sim" line. Which was a total nonsense, really. -

I can safely say that none of those are coming close to the level of planning and knowledge required in a sim such as DCS. Most FPS are no brainers, really: your reflexes and experience count the most. But overall, appart from the mandatory ten or so keys you'll need to do everything, it won't get the best of you. Anyone can play FPS. As for Tekken, you can't be serious. Chaining button mashup sequences in the same timing over and over and over to answer specific situations is Pavlovian conditioning at best ;) And yes, I know both quite well. -
Problems with the Ka50 on Afghanistan need help.
tsumikae replied to Stratos's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Check the pressure gauges on the back panel. If common hydro is dead, you can try the emergency proc. Note that you must pull both handles, not only the emergency one. If your main hydro is dead, that's belly landing for you, since the emergency gear system uses that one. If the gears themselves are mechanically damaged, belly landing again. In any case, as soon as a problem occurs with any hydro, you should immediatly try to get your gears out. The standby reticle mode would be what you're looking for. You can switch to it via the HUD mode selector button, right below the hud. No, I don't think there's such a possibility. I could be wrong, though. -
Oh you mean via radio chat? I suppose it could, if the right event for it is created in the mission editor. I'm not too familiar with that. However, one thing I can tell you for sure: apaches and KAs can't send datalink infos to each other.
-
Soooo... You tried to either send or receive target infos via datalink to your co workers, is that correct? I'm afraid I don't understand your exact problem. Would you please describe what you were trying to do?

As it should :devil_2: Seriously, though, it may not be slick but I think it's pretty efficient. The layout is classic, in a good way. Everything is easily reachable. Having it match the game GUI would be nice, indeed. In fact, maybe the whole concept lacks a strong visual identity. But are they looking for such a thing? Dunno.

Hate it all you want, but FSX IS a simulator. A casual, simplified one, but still a simulator. Some FC3 planes are not much better on the "realistic simulation" scale, btw.

Nothing specific about EDGE, but Prowler stated numerous times that they were dependant and on hold because of the "DCS engine constant evolution" (those are more or less the words). Wheither he was talking about EDGE or not is speculation, but what is true is that he stated this a fair amount of time to answer to many people questions regarding the state of their projects. I think that many here have grown upset to see so many projects announced by one 3rd party dev, while others would concentrate on just one or two. So yes, this resulted in something close to a cryfest in many threads. If you read Prowler post history, you'll find that he spends most of his time here trying to cool things down. Until he decided he didn't care anymore, it seems. My concern is: while I understand that questions regarding those many projects can be raised, what's the point in being harsh about it? Just let them do their stuff. No one's gonna suffer a stroke if nothing comes out. Let's take the news as they come. If they don't, well, there are many other DCS modules to be happy about. The Mig is out soon, I'll sure get it. VEAO Hawk is nearly there too, joy! So, well, just chill out. Why make such a scandal out of this. Again, personally I'd like to send them moral support for what it's worth, and reiterate that I really, really, really want to sit my virtual butt in their Mirage. Or anything they'll throw at me. Same is true for other projects.
-
Right now the only way to do so is to edit the corresponding .lua file and replace the current inputs. Not very convenient.
-
Now for the good news: you're ready for "DCS: Super Scooper", whenever it comes out.
-
They're not, their facebook page is active enough. But the last message from Prowler in this forum was this. Taken the (very) hard way, it could very well mean "I won't post anything else here". I'm very much like Rajdary, here. I would love to see more news from them on ED forums, instead of having to check their facebook page and scroll to find stuff about DCS specifically. If they have no news of interest, so be it. But damn I want that Mirage :D

None of the FC3 aircraft is clickable. Time to dust off your keyboard mad skillz (R-Ctrl + L-Shift - TAB x (Alt+PageDown) + neighbour living room light switch, and the likes :D

I know many here will disagree, but while default Warthog profile for the A10C is exactly what it's supposed to be, I suggest you give a chance to TARGET (Thrustmaster profile utility) when it comes to the shark. Reasons are: -It's quite handy and versatile, and with the layers system you'll have way more room for the bindings. -you don't have to change the DCS default bindings (except for the axis), since you'll use them for the TARGET profile. -no need to worry about your .lua becoming obselete after a patch.

The autopilot has been revized and it now only does, as you said, attitude and altitude modes. No more waypoint mode.

Yup, sorry. I have read so many time that F15C has AFM (which, it appears, had never been the case) that I assumed it effectively had at some point.
