  1. @CRUMP When the bandit is coming 6 high at high speed, and you are at your cruise speed, of course you instantaneous turn will be tighter. Therefore "outturning" the Mustang. But when both Mustang and Dora speed drop, the 190 becomes worse and worse. In a sustained fight, you can't outturn the P-51D in the 190. Not a single other sim had modeled it differently, and I suspect that DCS is exactly the same (just more detailed). Use the plane to what it was designed to do. It has good instantaneous turn at higher speeds and can cut into some maneuvers of the P51, but otherwsie the P51D should be able to outturn the 190. 190 should never fight in horisontal turn fights with anything realy. I wouldn't even try with a Mosquito. Use the 190's ROLL RATE and quick short turns at high speed to make him overshoot and/or get him to scissors, in which 190 is way better.:joystick:
  2. That is true. It is realy fun. But still just a game, a in depth one, but a game non the less :3
  3. Haaahahahahaahahahah:megalol: Oh silly, it is a game. Do you think you can pilot real planes after playing DCS? :D I mean, it is a hard game, with many buttons to remember, but it is a game. Single player and multiplayer. Just the community is having a hard time acknowleging it.
  4. Lol, I payed for team fortress 2 and when it became free I was happy, cause more o of my friends could play with me. Also mig29 is part of fc3 which is a bundle of planes. We've payed for, not one plane for 50£ That's why a trail version seems reasonable too. You chose a plane and u fly it for a period of time and u can buy it if you like it.
  5. What if ED made better activation system and gave people ability to register their accounts and have an ability to choose 2 planes for free for a limited trial time(1-2 weeks)? For example, I am a hardcore WW2 player. I want a good sim with Fw190. Oh, it's price is high, wonder if it is worth it. Thats' a high price for only one plane. With the new improved system, I can choose the Fw190 as one of my planes for trial. And fly it for a trial time. I would get familiar have some fun at MP and SP. That way new customers that are not part of already existing fan base, would get to try the thing that is interesting to them. There could be discount achievment, lets say -5% for completing the tutorial. What do you think?
  6. Sounds nice. I hope it will not be louder than other game sounds though. You know, the diveplane's mod made it realy easy to hear an enemy before he was even close, which was almost a cheat. Otherwise, I think it is the best sounding 109 mod, just few quirks are out there, but you are aware so... :) Good luck
  7. @Crump And what fuel was it using in 1944? 100/150 44-1. So they have reverted exactly to the same fuel they had before and used till early 1945. So basically, they flew on a fuel that is needed to be in DCS to achieve 72' or 75',up to the end of 1944, and our game is called DCS 1944. And remember that British used 81'hg MAP. Also, fouling is not only a problem of Merlin engine, I wonder how Germans faired :D Anyone has German maintnance reports about late DB605 engines with B4 and C3 fuels of 1944?
  8. Then present your source... As I said, you can confirm it, or disprove it. It is based on real life reports. So, if you have another source, go ahead and show it. The nature of the topic beeing top secret USAAF documentation of 1940's implies that sources are scarce and therefore I am using what I can.
  9. I use the source available and this relies on the documents from the period. I do not notice any form of bias there. If you are able to disprove/dispute any of those reports, please do. But if there is no proof that this archive is wrong, then it should be assumed that what we have in front of us is true.
  10. Yes! But it is still a higher chance than shooting down a K4:P I mean K4 has to realy mess up to be shot down. But realy though, with altitude that we fight at and distances that bases are from (maps like quake over the bay) the 262 is not going to be as much of a problem as one might think. Especially having no G suit to sustain hard turns at high speed. Also, loosing to 262 is understandable. It is a new type of plane that changed air war, even by only inspiring the future generation of planes, but it was proven that "jets" can fight well and are deadly. Thus I am not going to be mad.
  11. You do know that this is the second 150oct mixture they had? The first one had no problems what so ever, but the second one you are refering to was giving the problems with engines and so they had to quickly change to a fuel that was available. You are talking about the new early 1945 blend of fuel called the PEP, while 44-1 was used up that point without problems. Please read: I agree everything should be modeled in DCS, but we should focus up to 1944, not on the fuel that was delivered in 1945, which changes nothing for DCS 1944. Secondly, stop blowing things out of proportion. Reports say that standard usage of 44-1 fuel increased maintnance of P-51's engine. Stop thinking that US Army was stupid. They knew what they were dealing with and since may 1944 it was recomended to use 75'hg on P-51B, so D would have the same treatment. 12. I really want to shoot it down. :pilotfly: I have a wierd feeling that it will be easier to kill than 109 :P
  13. Crump were you hit today? Cause, today I flew some MP and got hit by a little snap-shot from a 109 and suddenly I was able to fly 75'hg... I don't think it changes anything to speed/acceleration etc. Didn't notice any changes to the FM.
  14. I knew it was too good to be true.:noexpression:
  15. What is your version Crump? Mine is: 1.5.1.47025 And I am not getting any update.
  16. Yes I want for it to be more competetive in multiplayer at low altitudes and 75'hg would give it the needed boost to be enjoyable in MP. Only thing I want from P-51 is to be fast B&Z plane, with the legendary ability to get away from a situation by diving away, as I very well understand that it is inherently inferior to interceptors like 109 and Spitfire in almost every other aspect (turn, climb, level acceleration etc.). Speed was the weapon of the Mustang and that is what I love it for and I understand its disadvantages beeing a long-range escort plane. It would only make each battle more balanced and more appealing for MP. And it is historically accurate seeing as many squadrons flew with 44-1 fuel.:pilotfly: Also, most dogfights since Gen. Doolittle directive were coming down lower, as pilots didn't have min. altitude anymore and were told to chase their victims to the ground. So by late 1944-45 dogfights were at all operational altitudes, and the whole reason why new Merlin 66 (1650-7) was adopted to the P-51 program was to improve low altitude performance of the P-51B/D :) I want competetive MP, that is why I am not asking for highest 81'hg (25lbs) for the P-51 as it was used by RAF because it might be too much for a 109K4 and would feel wierd/unfair to fly an RAF standard in USAAF plane. :weight_lift_2:
  17. Please re-read what you have quoted. P-51B=/=P-51D:doh:
  18. Just make a comparisson between P51 75'hg and 109K4 with 1.8 ata and you will see: P51D 75'hg slightly faster better diver better high speed control Bf109K4 1.8ata better climber better turner better control at low speed I see it is very well balanced in that regard.
  19. The difference is, if you want to make a G6, you need to make a new model from scratch. So 3D model and all system modelling has to be recreated. For 44-1 fuel you just have to change engine settings and no additonal work and just make a script to choose between different fuel types. Done. Also, we are not going to push the boost to 81'hg as it was the known British setting for Mustang MK IV (P51D) but only the allowed by USAAF 75'hg from aprill 1944. So it is not the highest boost, and it is well documented. On the note 109 G6 is my favourtie because of those buns on the nose :3 I would love to see P-51B vs Bf109G6 in the future though, so both planes can be added, and they are much better for each other :P PS: BTW there is a way to simulate G6 with K4, just remove MW50 and let it be at standard ata level of 1.45 and not a 1.8 (K4 is heavier but with MW50 tank removed or at least empty that weight would go down and K4 is more clean aerodynamically so that makes up for the weight). But nobody would do that, because who wants to fly a worse plane? :D
  20. Exactly Echo. And the only thing that would make it a bit more fair in this regard is to give P-51D it's 44-1 fuel and 75'hg because it is very well documented and follows the rule of creating simulation based on real life data. I hope that this "feature" will be available sooner than later to us, especially with 25lbs Spitfire coming down the way. Sith said some time ago that it is planned, I just wish we could have it now :P. But this change will stop this thread and claims that K4 is the P51 killer, because they will be fighting on equal terms.
  21. I agree. Those tests bring only confusion and prove nothing I am afraid.
  22. Don't you think that when we will have the module, it will be too late for that kind of dicsussion and one could say "we have what we have, and you can't change a thing now"... So I think thats actually a very good time to have this discussion. And funny thing is I have some friends that said to me, when the 109 was out "if it was G I would buy it now... but K4? I'll wait for Normandy map first" So yeah... :P
  23. Why do you even participate if you do not read what other's say. Your attitude is horrible and I give you negative for that. Now I am not a Spitfire enthusiast, so I may know way less, but Spit Mk IX was beeing produced since 1942 with various modifications along the way. So I would imagine that it has been the main Mk in production for 1943. Our game is set in late 1944 Europe with Bf109K4 and Fw190D9 around, so that is very late 1944. So... naturally I would expect Spitfire MkIX LF with Merlin 66 and 25lbs boost as it will keep the Spit both competetive against those "wunderwaffe" and historically accurate as this setting was used by the RAF for many Spitfires in service. I don't think Spitfire MkV is in any way relevant for the time period of DCS.
