  2. A big thank you to everyone who showed up! Practically everyone did, and that's absolutely fantastic! Also the people who cancelled informed me in time. Big thumbs up :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: The technical difficulties were unfortunate, we will improve this for the next time. Expect a new round in approximately 2 months! Also for next time we will reconsider the number of participants, to have equal numbers on both sides. Still, we got some good fights going! I would go out on a limb and say that the Blues were dominant this time around also.

  5. I should add that this is the exact reason why sometimes the ER refuses to launch, despite being seemingly within launch parameters.
  6. Thank you Bush! It is modeled in the game. But I've seen it happen at higher altitudes also. The speed difference needs to be really small, something like within 50 km/h for this phenomenon to occur.
  7. There's a reason why these missiles don't track: Matched speeds between chaser and runner. Just try it. If you chase a target and match his speed, your radar will go dumb. Of course you gotta have some separation, like in the video. Works with F-15C and sparrow also. In the case of Su-27 you maintain lock thanks to your IRST. But the ER can't use that (not in game anyway). I think there was a radar physics -related explanation, but I can't remember it. Maybe someone who knows may enlighten us?

  9. Mav please make weather control for fog with visibility max 0.5 nm, all the way to the ground, and high upper ceiling too :)
  10. I added the fuel loads to the beginning post as informed by the mission designer. You can check the exact fuel of F-15C by downloading the mission file and opening it, not sure why it was written in kg in the document I received.

The date for this event has been postponed several times already, I wouldn't like to postpone it further. But since many of the pilots that want to fly in it are likely to fly in JW also, if this option is selected, I may have no choice but to postpone Ace Combat another week. The other options are ok.
  16. Next Ace Combat dogfight event will take place on 19th of March at 17.00 UTC! NOTE THE POSTPONED NEW TIME!! 4 vs 4, guns only. This thread is for the signup of the blue coalition. Reds have their own thread on the Russian part of the forum. Total slots available: 20 + reserves (5 teams, 4 players each) Red side made a wish for blue to have one team of Su-27 only if possible, thus having an opportunity for Su-27 exclusive fights. Thus I will try group to the flanker pilots together, since the majority will likely fly F-15C. This is meant to be an event for pilots of all skills. Everyone is welcome to join. The schedule will consist of two 60-minute sessions with a short break in between. During the 60-minute periods as many rounds as time allows will take place. Blue coalition will meet on 104th Teamspeak server. Unofficial non-mandatory practice session on Sunday 6th of March from 17.00 UTC onwards! The main purpose of the event: bring the English- and Russian- speaking communities together for some intense air to air action! After this, the two teams coordinate in chat (or in Teamspeak if language barriers are not a problem) to start the next round. Once a player has been shot down, he should move to spectators until the round is over. Some examples of simple chat communications that should be used: Ready? / R? - question about opposing team's readiness for next round Yes / Y - confirmation of team readiness 1 min / 1m - time required until team is ready Start / S! - calls the start of the round End? / E? - question whether the round has ended or not Planned time for event: 60 min fighting + 20 min break + 60 mins of fighting. This may change if there are delays etc, and also the time may be extended if both teams want to keep on fighting. All rounds are fought until their ending, regardless of the 60 min time limit reached. In the first 60-minute session, Red coalition gets to choose their player slots first. In the second session, Blue will choose their slots first. The main aircraft types for the event are Su-27, F-15C and Mig-29A. Other aircraft types may be added at people's request.   18. I've witnessed Red take most of the northeast back, unmolested, in just 2 hours.

Captures are being prevented by singular quiet infantry units hiding, is this intended behavior? :) Could be prevented for example by making the capturing infantry units disappear after capture has occurred, this way they don't stick around to cause problems. No different from the fact that you cannot drop more infantry into own airbases from helicopters. 20%-repaired airfields have been set to 0% numerous times after server crash/rotation. Most certainly not intended behavior! Also the fortified bunkers on airfields spawn on top of each other in such a way that collision detection doesn't work properly. Vikhrs and other ammunition wasted on holographic buildings... Rarely, repair from 0% has failed completely and stayed at 0%. This happened at least with Beslan captured by blue. Thx for server!

  21. I think the fighter capability balance is quite good. Whether you're red or blue, it's a relatively bad idea to go alone against a two-ship face to face out in the open. This is very different from a situation with AIM-120 and ET where these missiles' fire-and-forget capability allows one to potentially engage two at a time and come out victorious. This emphasizes fighter team tactics, which is good! Also I think it's lovely that chopper pilots have compensation for the ungodly long flight times by having a real feeling of tactical power with transport choppers having numerous things to do and Kamovs just ripping everything to pieces if they get a chance :)
  22. Heh Frostie yeah :) My biggest frustration has been some bugs, worst of which was the fail of repair of Beslan yesterday. It's also frustrating when a good plan goes bad in five different ways because everyone screws up lol including myself, and when we lose the north (Nalchik, Mozdok, Beslan) completely in just 2-3 hours because it was left unguarded for that time. But today's chopper defense battle made up for all of that :D Ka-50 is the war machine.. not even Frogfoots and Flankers are immune :) You have to wait til they turn in for their attack, lock them up with Shkval, then pop 2 x Vikhr + 30 mm in their face!

  24. GG, I think we understand each other :) I feel the need the exaggerate one way, and you the other. Like yin and yang, we complement each other. Merges may be undesirable for the modern fighter pilot, but sometimes they are unavoidable ;)
  25. A quote from that page about AIM-9X: "a tremendous capability for the Air Force" How can they write this when clearly AMRAAM and BVR kills everything 100% of the time :):)
