It would be helpful to know more of your system and if you run on a single display or on a multi display system. The higher the resolution, the better the higher amount of RAM is. I came from a 1070 (8GB) and now own a 1080Ti. The memory is completely filled and I have a triple screen setup (3x27", 7680x1440). With MSI Afterburner you can easily check the utilization of your actual card and judge if it would be worth it.

Hi all, I would like to bring something up I personally don´t really understand. But first I explain what hardware I’m using how. I have 3 large screens (27”, 2560x1440 75Hz) for my cockpit and 3 small ones (8”, 1280x720, 60Hz) for my 3 Cougar MFDs. VSync is off. I´m using a 1 screen monitor configuration which looks like this: To let the 6 screen run I’m using my main GPU (1080Ti) for the 3 large screens and one small screen. For the other 2 small screens I´m using a GT 1030. My configuration in DCS looks like this. Now to my “issue”, which I actually wouldn´t call a problem, but what is wondering me. When I’m using the 3 main screens only, I´m having 52 FPS in an own created multiplayer mission (Hornet cockpit at Khasab AB in the Persian Gulf, hot machine). The resolution in the DCS settings is 7680x1440. So far so good. When I now expand the rendering area to display the MFCDs/AMPCD on the 3 small screens this gives me a resolution of 10240x1440 (14.745.600 pixels). Now the strange thing. Even if I´m not exporting anything to the small screens (means the export isn’t configured in the monitor config lua) my FPS are already dropping to 35. The 3 small screens are black. If I´m now exporting the MFCDs/AMPCD, this has no further FPS impact. What is strange as well is the fact, that I´m getting the same low FPS when only using 2 small screens at a resolution of 8960x1440 (maybe 1 FPS difference, I use this for the A-10C) When placing the small screens to the bottom of the 3 large ones, which has a larger overall amount of pixels (7680x2160 = 16.588.800 pixels, 12,5% higher compared to my original layout) this results into the same amount of 35 FPS. Those are the facts. My idea now is, whenever the GT 1030 is used, the FPS are dropping. I used a GTX 1050Ti instead, but this didn´t show any difference. Is this really related to the rendering area, means the black color is an overlay like the land covering the water? Why isn´t there any difference by placing the small displays sideways and below the main screens? Could the PCI-E port be a bottleneck, being crippled to 8x by using 2 GPUs? Is there a Nvidia Control Panel setting I can use to boost something? I’ve updated the main GPU from a 1070 to a 1080Ti some time ago, which showed a 25% FPS boost with the same settings and hardware. Still the GPU is at 98/99% as it was before. I know this is a long thread and my “issue” is kind of special but maybe somebody has an idea which can help me. Thanks in advance and have a great day, Xoxen

I pulled the trigger, i couldn't stand it anymore

Hi Bluethornton, actually I´m investigating if a CPU upgrade will bring extra performance. I have some doubts about it as my GPU runs with 100% already. What I learned so far the GPU seems to be the bottleneck showing this high load. But a RTX 2080Ti is out of reach for me and with my very high resolution I need the VRAM of 11GB. That´s why I bought the GTX 1080Ti which gave me 25% performance gain over a GTX 1070 (which also ran at 100% load). Without answering this question I will hold my money a little longer. Saying this you shouldn´t expect something from my side too soon :smilewink: Xoxen -

Great, thanks for sharing. This gives me an idea on what a CPU upgrade is capable to do. Do you have an idea what the usage of your GPU was before and after. This would be very helpful for me to take a decision on my upgrade plans. Thanks again and much fun with your new rocket :smilewink: P.S.: The HP Reverb also was on my list but a new CPU with Board and RAM AND a VR device will kill my wallet. -

Congrats to the new system. I can fully understand your excitement. I´m very interested in the result, as my CPU is very close to yours and the GPU also is not that far away. I´m thinking about an upgrade by myself and also have the 9900KS in my focus. I´m runnig 3x27" WQHD displays which makes my mission difficult. My GPU already is at 99%, so I fear a CPU upgrade does not raise my FPS. Where is your GPU when running your actual config? I check this with MSI Afterburner. -
Hi, ich hab es einfach rüberkopiert und das lief einwandfrei. Gruß, Xoxen

I didn´t get numbers, but have the correct TM name for it: - Hotas Warthog Friction Pads (rubber parts which consist out of a pair) - Hotas Warthog Friction Ring (white part on the picture) - Hotas Warthog Pressure Ring (black part on the picture, mine shows cracks)

I use this program for a while now and love it. Many thanks for this. Actually I have an issue trying to create a Kneeboard for the F-16C. The kneeboard folder inside of the "saved games" folder gets the correct sheets added. But the position is not the one I choose. I have a multi screen setup and the standard kneeboard position is on the small display of one of my MFDs. So I positioned it to my right large screen and it works for the Hornet and the Hog. But for the Viper it fails. Any idea? Thanks, Xoxen Edit: Got it to run, forgot to create a profile for the F-16C, my fault. Everything now works like it should.

Hi, I´m getting CTDs when using the Avionic switches during the startup of the Viper. Had it 2 times in a row. The log file and dxdiag is included. I was not able to save the track as I ended up at my desktop. The MODs I have istalled are - 476 Range Targets 17JUN18 - US Navy Equipment - USN_MHU191 Inside of the Mission I didn´t use any of them. The Mission file is included as well. I use the most actual DCS Open Beta (2.5.5.38040). It happens after I acticate the DL switch, but I´m not sure if it is exactly this as I switch all of them quite fast one after the other. I hope I´ve added all necessary information to find a possible bug ot a mistake in my system/installation. Xoxen Edit: Did a repair and now it works again in the same mission. Problem seems to be solved. DxDiag.txt Rumgefliege mit F-16C.miz dcs_log.zip

I simply asked for a replacement via online support. They reacted very quick and I had a good and pleasant conversation. I also asked for some additional parts and they opened a cloud folder for me to upload some picture to be sure I get the right ones quoted. I´m very satisfied with the TM support.

Many thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for. They didn't mention it to me. Xoxen

Dear all, does anyone have a guide how to replace the rubbers of the Warthog throttle (at the bottom end, the ones which control the friction)? Mine are quite worn out and I bought new ones from TM. They haven´t arrived yet, but I wonder how I can get the tension off the spring to replace them. I didn´t find anything in the internet, maybe someone here has something for me. Thanks, Xoxen

Thanks for the info. Do you have a picture for me? Edit: I received the headset today and I´m quite impressed. Good quality and good sound and also the microphone is good according to the people I´m flying MP with. Regarding the TrakClip Pro I have to say it fits without issues at the point marked in red in the attached picture. No need to work with a cable tie. Maybe Rebel has not the exact same model but the Pro version.

I was a little impatient and just ordered it for a really good price (57€ instead of 85€). So no absolute showstopper messages anymore please :music_whistling: I will share my outcome. According to online tests it is a reasonably good headset for the price. If it works with the TrackclipPro, we will see....... Xoxen

Dear all, I´m looking for a new headset and the "turtle beach atlas elite" was promoted by the computer magazine I frequently read. Does anybody here have any experience with it and can I put my trackclip pro on it? I searched for the headset here in the forums but didn´t fidn anything. Any information would be great. Thanks, Xoxen

GPU suddenly not at 100% anymore, FPS kinda locked in Cockpit view
xoxen replied to xoxen's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Thanks for the advice. Forgot to mention that I have a triple screen setup. ctrl + enter displays everything on one screen when I hit it. Attached are my settings. Xoxen Edit 2: It really seems that switching MSAA and SSAA from on to off and back did the trick. I now have 100% GPU load again. Good to know, didn´t expect this to work. Maybe this helps others. -
Hi, I´m actually seeing an issue I cannot explain to myself. From one day to another I experienced that my GPU isn´t fully loaded anymore. It always was at 100% and now is barely hitting 90%. It also seems that the FPS are limited in any way. When I´m in the cockpit I have 37 FPS now. This is not uncommon at the ground but in the air, especially over water in PG it climbed to appr. 50 FPS. This does not happen anymore. It´s glued to 37 FPS in the cockpit. Looking up into the sky raises it to appr. 50 FPS where it was appr. 70 FPS before. I didn´t change anything I know about. I checked vsync and unchecked it again, no difference. I made a fresh installation of the NVidia driver. I deleted fxo and metashader2 folders. I switched on "maximum power preferred" in the driver. No change at all. Actually I´m at the end with my knowledge. Maybe someone has an advice for me. Thanks in advance. The CPU shouldn´t be the bottleneck as I had a 100% before with no hardware change. Xoxen Edit 1: Switching off MSAA (2x) and SSAA (1,5x) and switching it back on at least made a change looking into the sky. The FPS in the pit looking up are back in the 70s. I remebered that this is at least worth a try checking and unchecking things. I read it somewhere here in the forums some time ago.

Other options are quite expensive and to be honest, I love my Warthog. I greased it up, bought the Slew Mod, an 7cm extension and dust covers. It is a great piece of a stick. Could be better gimbal wise but hey, it´s doing a perfect job for me. So my answer is yes, as long as I´m sticked with the A-10C and Hornet.

Hi ebabil, when I see the numbers correct the GPU is actually the limiting factor. Mine also was at 99% and upgrading from a GTX 1070 to a GTX 1080Ti brought a 25% increase of the FPS. The GPU is still at 99% but I´m running a very high resolution of 7680x1440 so I´m not wondering about it. Even though your CPU is quite old I believe a GPU upgrade brings more benefit. By the way, how much FPS do you want to get? 79 is already very good. A screenshot of your settings would be great to see. Xoxen

Hi cmbaviator, I have the same CPU (but at 4,4 GHz) and the same type of GPU, so we should be able to compare. I´m running at a very high resolution of 7680x1440 and with the attached setting I reach appr. 40-45 FPS under the same conditions (Hornet in the air over Nevada). Additionally I´m exporting the DDI´s and AMPCD which cost me around 15 FPS, so I am at 60 FPS without exporting them. I also played around with only one dispay which has 2560x1440. I can reach higher FPS with my settings, 70-75. MSAA is a real FPS killer so I reduced it to 2x instead of 4x and have 1.5 SSAA. I guess your FPS are correct if you have maxed out everything. But to get a decent eye candy it does not necessarily be on max at every aspect. There are a lot of threads in this forum covering which setting does what, e.g. this one https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=234358&highlight=settings+fps+ssaa+msaa Maybe deleting the following folders in the saved games DCS folder could also help, "fxo" and "metashaders2". DCS creates new ones at the next start. Everytime an update is coming up I do this to exclude problems from old fragments inside of these folders. If it helps? It gives at least a good feeling ;) I hope this helps. If you have more detailed questions feel free to ask. Edit: If I know your setting I could adjust mine accordingly and let you know the outcome. If you have a reference mission this would be helpful as well to compare apples with apples. This thread also could be of help to compare the power of your system: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=240131&highlight=benchmark Xoxen

GTX 1070 and GT 1030 with 6 displays FPS issue?
xoxen replied to xoxen's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi folks, some time ago I posted here. In the meantime, after getting cheated buying the first 1080Ti I finally got one. I went from 30 FPS to 41 FPS, so 25% increase. Strange thing is, that the 1030 now is at 70% usage. The 1080Ti is still at 99% like the 1070 before. I guess the amount of pixels suck up a lot of GPU power. The RAM usage also is at 11GB most of the times, so the extra RAM might also be part of the increase. Maybe this helps others when they want to upgrade. Xoxen -
Hi, you can play around with the FOV dimensions in the server.lua. Save the server.lua into the saved games folder on C: into the folder DCS\Config\View and modify it. Attached you find my data. I also have 3 displays running and also work with the extra axis at the Warthog to zoom out. The fine tuning I did like Knock-Knock has explained. I hope this helps. Xoxen
