  1. Congratulations. Did you do some comparisons Before / After?
  2. I mean the original price already wasn´t that funny but most probably worth it. The actual prices for all new graphic cards are rediculous. I hope and pray that my GPU is reliable at these times (I knock on wood, knock knock). Shame on all who are guilty for this. I really thought about a new GPU and now I have to shift it to.......who knows.
  3. In my lua the Center is in two pairs of brackets ("{"), in his lua the final closing bracket is behind the second MFCD, so all is included into the first opening bracket. At least this is a major difference. I´m no lua expert and can only judge by comparing. Additionally he has some "," behind some of the brackets, don´t know what they are doing. Lets wait if my proposed lua makes a difference. Regarding the arrangement it is up to the GPU, which gives the monitors the numbers. So he would have to physically re-plug the cables to the appropriate ports to get the sequence "clean". Only a visual thing, the Computer doesn´t care about the numbers
  4. I had a look at the cockpit.lua and am wondering about the marked positions. Assuming that you want the 2 MFCDs side by side I would say it needs to be like x = 5760 + 525 With x = 5760 +960 -525 both should interfere. The two lower lines are something I don´t have in my lua and I believe they are not necessary. Try to put "--" in front or delete them and see what is happening. Additionally I see in my lua that I have 2 pairs of brackets for the Center, marked in orange in the attached extract. Additionally the "," behind some of the brackets aren´t existant in my lua. And the picture with the GUI is how my Cockpit.lua ends. This ensures the GUI is only displayed on the center screen and not on all 3. There are other ways but mine works in a good way since a long time. Attached you find your lua with my modifications. Give it a try and let me know the outcome. Xoxen_proposal.lua
  5. The small pads are more rubber than plastic. To me it sounds like Nyogel seems to be incompatible with rubber. I read a lot of posts and all said it is plastic safe. Maybe there is a different behavior on rubber, like mentioned. Good news are, that you can buy the rubber parts as spares from Thrustmaster. I also got a small PDF displaying how to replace them. I don´t remember the price, but it wasn´t that much. I´m using the grease out of this thread: Link to Molykote Post I used it at the rubber pads as well but it didn´t improve the movement for a long time but at least stopped the wear I did experience before (small rubber particles inside of the housing).
  6. Did you delete the fxo and metashader2 folders in saved games DCS folder? I guess this is something you should do. Edit: They will rebuild at the next start, so no worries.
  7. For me it helped to watch the tanker and not the boom after connection. The rest is practice practice practice, once you found a good setting for your stick axis curcature etc. Today I make a refueling in the Hornet without disconnect.......
  8. I really appreciate it that you´ll share the results. This gives others a good chance to judge own ideas in updating anything. I will definately have a closer look at it, at least as you are running the same GPU and the fact that you have a better CPU already. So any benefit you will see will be even higher in my case
  9. Thanks Eugel for the time you are going to spend. I do not fly VR but have a triple screen setup and was playing around a lot with settings etc. When I did a comparison I took a mission (an own one or for better comparison with others a standard one), switched off the Track IR and simply started it. With MSI Afterburner I watched the FPS when entering the cockpit without doing anything else. I did so after every single change and also double checked the original FPS when putting everything back to the state I started with. As the FPS was back where it was I guess this is a good way to compare. Flying over a crowded airport gives you a non constant FPS and it is harder to compare. I also read, that going into a given mission from a module and not unpausing it is also a good way to have constant FPS. Doing so I figured out that having 2 NVidia cards installed caps the FPS for whatever reason. I used a GT 1030 just to have additional outputs and had 15 FPS less. The same with a GTX 1050 Ti (both in combination with my GTX 1080Ti). Now I managed to run everything with the GTX 10801Ti only and do not have issues anymore. With MSI Afterburner you can also compare the utilization of the GPU. Mine is always at 99%, this must be related to the 3 WQHD displays I´m running. But as a rule of thumb, full load at the CPU = CPU bottleneck, full load at the GPU = GPU bottleneck. I still wonder if a CPU upgrade would bring me a benefit as the GPU is already utilized by 99%. New Hardware generation (incl. DDR4) might bring an advantage?! But to figure this out it would cost me 1000 EUR. So same situation you are in. Spending money without knowing if the outcome is worth it.
  10. When I upgrade my CPU it is a major upgrade most of the times, means Board and RAM are included as well. I always try to buy as good as possible with a balance between power and money. Last time I invested into the i7 4790K and it is still running good in combination with my GTX 1080TI. The bad thing was, that I was already at the end CPU wise, no chance to upgrade the CPU on the MoBo I have. I´m running 3x 2560x1440 and higher resolutions are mostly handled by the GPU and less the CPU. This is what I see using MSI Afterburner. The GPU is at 100% and the CPU seems to be utilized much less (hard to see on a multicore CPU, but sometimes it is even going down with the frequency and the temperature is still in the high 60s or low 70s, so no throttling). For sure I have a look at the actual hardware situation and already thought about an upgrade. But this would mean spending many Euros for my dream system and the chance of becoming disappointed about the low amount of benefit if I stay with the GPU. I kept an eye on a X570 board with a 5800X CPU and proper RAM. I hope when buying an AMD system they will make another generation with the AM4 socket. Otherwise I would again be at the upper end CPU wise.... I completely buried my plans on a GPU upgrade, because of the crazy Miner/Scalper situation. Edit: I voted for 6-9 years, forgot to mention this.
  11. I just bought the Titan and am really happy with it. It is very comfortable and of good quality. From my perspective it is worth the money and the delivery was faster than expected (ordered at the 7th of January with a delivery date 17th of February. I´m sitting on it already since end of January ) There are a lot of Review videos at YT to get an idea of it. The Backforce One is something which is also a great chair. The arm rests can be folded backwards which would have been benifitial for my "Cockpit". But it is avaialble only with PU surface, my Titan has cloth what I believe is better on warmer days.
  12. Hi nguludi, I guess your PC should be fine for 1080p with moderate settings. As DCS World is a free product you can easily download it and try. There are 2 aircraft for free for testing. Actually there is a trial period where you can test all available modules for free and buy them with a proper discout if you like. I guess this is a good way to check the performance on your PC. 16 GB is too low for busy servers and might be OK if you plan to fly single player only. Some weeks ago I had 28 GB filled on a server, so 32 GB is benifitial. Regarding the SSD the program can easily hit 250 GB of Hard Disc space, depending on the modules and Maps you have installed. 4 GB for the GPU could be a bottleneck. But simply try. It is definately worth it. Take care, Xoxen
  13. The mouse table from Monstertech is what I use. Works reasonably good. It can easily be attached to the desk mounts from them, like the MFD holders.
  14. Hi, for sure it is a matter of preference, but also familiarization. I startet in the F-16 and always flew side stick. I converted to the A-10C but got sticked at the side stick configuration and also fly the Hornet like this. It better fits my personal situation with an office desk and chair. A center stick does not really fit in front of my chair. Only if you have it quite high but I fly with an extension of 7cm. The benefit of a center stick is, that you can easily switch hands when working on the MFDs or with the mouse. I need to use the Autopilot a lot not to go down with the plane when heads down. Take care, Xoxen
  15. If you would bring life into DCS I would be in and love it. Everything is very dead except of the civil traffic without using moose or something similar. So if the Airfield becomes alive without spending hours at the Editor this would be great as the immersion would be very much improved. As I´m a virtual pilot I´m not interested in controllable vehicles. High quality Asset Packages would be great to have, even though ED themselves mentioned this in a newsletter to be adressed by them, at least for some of the planes. But the more the better.
  16. +1, today on Normandy MP Map, did not see this before.
  17. Hi, TrackIR settings are very much a personal preference. But I will try to help you with my settings. You can play around with them as a basis. There are some good videos availably on YT, maybe the one from Ralfidude (Link). There are several settings, my ones for YAW, Pitch and Roll are attached. I also attached my profile which you have to copy to %AppData%\NaturalPoint\TrackIR 5\Profiles and choose in the TrackIR software. I run a triple screen setup and for me this is reasonably good. I also tried profiles from others but more or less used them as a basis to configure my own one. I hope this helps to get a start. You can very much improve the feeling inside of the cockpit with adjusting the settings. Xoxen Xoxen.xml
  18. The repair has to be started from the new drive, it must be in the folder where the dcs.exe is located.
  19. I recently moved my complete DCS folder from one 256 GB SSD to a 512 GB one. If I remember correctly I just copy and pasted it, ran a repair and that´s it. The only thing that changed was the drive letter. What I have manually adapted were the shortcuts I have in the Windows Start menu. I did not delete the original DCS just to be on the safe side. I renamed it to be sure the copied DCS is now the one that runs and finally removed it when I was at the point I was sure it worked. I guess above guide from Bitmaster shows you, how to link part of you installation to another drive. If you buy a new SSD and completely want to move it, you should not need it. Xoxen
  20. +1, I have the feeling it got even worse with the last patches. Only checked with the Hornet module. Would be great if this will be solved as I cannot even see any green lines or writings on the HSI if the map is on.....similar with the FLIR.
  21. I fully remember, it tended to stop short before entering the cockpit
  22. Got goosebumps when I saw the gun. I'm no rotohead so far. I guess this will change. Gunship on C-64 was my first "sim". Great announcement and Hollywood style introduced.
  23. Switching from "3 cameras" to "1 camera" as the cockpit lua should solve your problem. 3 cameras are OK if you have the two outer displays 45 deg in relation to the center one. But it eats up more FPS. 1 camera has a fisheye effect on the outsides and you migh need to adjust your Field of view (FOV). Xoxen
  24. There are softer springs on the market. E .g. Sahaj in this forum offers the green one, have a look here.
