DCS at 1080p on 4k TV anyone?
Brewnix replied to wilbur81's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hey Wilbur81! just a thought on those 2 comments^ I used to play on 3 40" Westinghouse LCD/TV's When I had to switch from VGA to HDMI on the same tv I hated the HDMI connection cause it always looked like I had no AA applied. And the colors even on the desktop were off. desktop icons, web browser and games all looked grainy. I ended up turning off the Sharpness on the TV settings. Read this tip in a Audio Video forum they said for hooking a TV upto a computer the Sharpness is no good for computer color palette and line smoothing. I know there different TV's completely But it made think about my problem! -
Hello Spadje congrats on the new Acer! I am not 100% sure but you seemed to be the first VR pilot to have one of these. At least I have not seen another review for DCS yet. Wondering have you tried to raise the AA in game settings. Maybe its not stable at higher PD but maybe you could smooth the lines out a bit. Also wondering if it compatible with steam VR?

That's cool! Good to have!
-
rel4y wonder if you got this Promicro shield running?

Hey Beerider just to confirm your suspicion. The Buttkicker with Andre sound module will bring life to your pit. Its a good addition you won't be disappointed.

That I don't know how much and what went thru the Navair dept. I was just recalling why we had NAVAIR stamped on on our tools and some of the publications.
-
A little fun fact. In Marine Aviation everything goes thru the Navy. Tools, parts changes in the aircraft manuals. If I remember it was called Navair depot that was stamped on all the tools. If they didn't have there stamp on it you could not use it. Hose clamp under $10 bucks at the hardware store after the Navair depot put there name on it $75bucks. They have to approve everything before we get to use it. That's why it says the Navy everywhere.

I logged in to 1.5.8 in multiplayer the other day. Yes, I had same lag. I really don't know if it a wait and let it settle issue... I have not been playing multiplayer with VR but I decided to log in and check it out. I logged in to 104th cause the ping was low for me. After a little bit the lag went away I was able to select and fly. I pressed the fly button more then once before it responded. I personally am not giving it any thought till 2.5 comes out just for the fact they will all resources to one game version not 3.

Well if they start selling to home users that would be great.. This is one of there companies that is part of StarVR look at all the games they got. I have a email sent to these guys if they would sell a home use headset. https://www.starbreeze.com/
-
Have you seen anywhere that StarVR will develop and come out with a consumer version? StarVr has been around since the beginning with Oculus and Vive, but they have made statements and have no interest in making a consumer version headset. There only dealing with companies for entertainment.

That's a awesome looking pit!! Looking forward to hear what controllers you are using for the switches!

There is something like this I have not used them my self. Maybe this would work? There addressable led looks like they have small resistor and a capacitor. I know there is another forum user that used these in there cockpit. I don't remember where it was posted. https://www.amazon.com/kuman-WS2812B-Addressable-Arduino-littlergb/dp/B01M5BEO1C/ref=sr_1_16_sspa?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1515827810&sr=1-16-spons&keywords=ws2812+single+led&psc=1 WS2812B.pdf data sheet

So in the A1-AV8B-NFM-000 technically opened in Adobe page23. Switch TO or LDG "With the The water injections system armed (engine JPTL datum is changed) and the water injection augmenting bypass valve in the FCU provides supplementry fuel resulting in a 9.5 to 17.% enigine rpm rise at idle." "TO" Also water flows when the throttle is set above 95% rpm. after takeoff water continues to flow until airspeed exceeds 250 knots or water is depleted or throttle moved below 95% "LDG" water flows when airspeed drops below 250 knots and when Jet pipe temps go above 695% the throttle is moved above 95% Just quoting manual. So I guess trying to refuel make sure its in the "OFF" position. EDIT

Well really no different other then for the knowledge and experience to make and tailor your own boards. I guess I feel its more efficient use of equipment. The other boards are good I have not heard any complaints about them.
-
Hey Schredder! This is a cool idea! PCB's are the hardest to make and trying to figure out what controller you will use. I have been using Fritizing cause I am new to PCB making and also used this service called https://oshpark.com/ You get 3 boards you upload via there webpage. There alitttle on the expensive side compared to the PCB makers that give you 10 boards for cheap. But there here in the USA on the west coast like me so the build and ship time are not that bad. Anyways I have a little experience with this controller Program Called MMJOY built programmed by "mega_mozg_13" just in case you have not heard of it. Github info https://github.com/MMjoy/mmjoy_en/wiki DCS forum link https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2558215 I have VR right now but I have been building small panels with MMjoy and and Rehabbed a X55 Throttle I got dead from Ebay. And have gotten alot of help from the guys in mmjoy and Input/Output forum threads. But Even with VR I still have a bug to build a cockpit. I have Idea to build a Harrier cockpit So when I get some of Stang's plans for the cockpit I will start that. And plan to run mmjoy for all the buttons. Anyways I am subcribing and will follow this thread and hopefully help contribute. Thanks!

Yes if you get bare led's they would need the proper resistor to limit the current to the led. That power supply has 20amp rating. From what I read most led's deal in milliamps. That's why i was asking about which led you were using. There would be a data sheet for it from the manufactorer that probably say min/max voltage and amp or watts. Which there is a math formula that can be done to figure out the resistor to place before the led. There are also LED's on a strip on the reels that have resistors attached to them already. So I am also no electronic expert but learning myself. If you look at the this amazon led https://www.amazon.com/Lemonbest-Flexible-3528smd-120leds-Waterproof/dp/B015R3TTP6/ref=pd_sim_60_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B015R3TTP6&pd_rd_r=ZKSANZF4DNC6R1WNTYED&pd_rd_w=L9IC8&pd_rd_wg=YRGKv&psc=1&refRID=ZKSANZF4DNC6R1WNTYED the second picture down shows resistors on the strip. You might want to also post this question over the input/output section it might get more mileage over there just to confirm my answer.

Hi, Can you post the specs of your LED's voltage/amp and how many you are going to run?
-
@AndrewW oops sorry thanks for the correction. @bnepethomas Thanks! I thought that it was a cool idea, able to illuminate panels with out wiring led's.
-
Hello AnderewW! Curious about the dogfight pit did you happen to get the his glow n the dark panels? I have followed them for alittle bit on facebook.. Just wondering how long they glow for? Thanks!

Hello so I moved and resized the Kneeboard manually before by following this post. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2203108&postcount=2 by AlaskanGrizzly. The problem I had was its a protected file so every update it reverts back to original state. The second thing is it cause you to fail integrity check in protected multiplayer servers. So the last time I manually moved it was Oct 2016. Not for sure of current update if it still manually movable.

Awesome.

To make the Black screen extend down below the monitor you are flying on you have to add in the game settings resolution the total width and height of all monitors. What configuration do you have your monitors in?
-
Spectre1986 Thanks for the video. Have you done any multiplayer? Interesting to see the performance there.
-
Nice work! Looks like you made your own monitor stands?

A few questions about multi-monitor
Brewnix replied to Rangoon's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
"And as another consideration, does anyone know if there is a way to run triple-screen (all matching 2560x1440 landscape displays - same model - NVIDIA Surround) and get the benefit of using fullscreen mode (framerate) but also use a 4th screen (the MFD screen for example)? Would this be possible with one video card? Possible only with two? not possible at all (as in DCS will still need to be run in window mode and with the same basic approach as what I'm doing now)? " Before VR with a 970 I ran 3 40in LCD's TV with Nvidia surround and a 23in monitor for my MFD's. I would force the 2560x1440 res on the TV's by a custom resolution section in Nvidia control panel after bezel correction total res was 7880x1440. Not for sure if DCS was in full screen or window mode never notice.
