  1. Ok alot to learn. So my first plan would be to build the panels and cnc router them and place back lighting. I have been toying with the idea of Glow in the dark sticky paper maybe with a black light to illuminate the printable panels. That idea was from Dog Fight boss printing glow n' the dark panels for his cockpit he makes. Thought I would try out a couple of panels to see how they work or if its viable solution. I have already tried printable glow n the dark photo paper it works but requires a lot of bright light to keep it lit bright for awhile that's why i was thinking a black light might help with. Got order black light.
  2. Ok I see what your are saying about the gaps in some of the lettering. Ok so i think Only Sketchup Pro can Export to DXF file. Or is there a Extension or pluggin i can use for Sketchup Make. When i go to export the file/Export/3d model all I get is DAE and KMZ! Thanks for the tips.
  3. Ok so a couple of hours of fiddling with sketchup I produced a panel. But wondering why in the text some letters are grey and some are white?
  4. Right I have been noticing some other things like there is no fastners in the NATOPS pics. I'm thinking its gonna be draw it up and make it look kind of close! What would be a good program to start drawing panels. I have been messing around with free version of Sketchup. My skills are horrible. But I think I am gonna Stick with it till i learn it.
  5. Thanks for the link to that post! Good PDF on DZUS and panel specs!
  6. Ok those are good tips. I have to play around with the resizing more. Thanks!
  7. Thanks Mr Burns. Wondering if I were to blow up the print in the flight manual to some of the common gauge sizes like back up ALT,AOA,Airspeed. Place ruler on screen increase size till I get close and hit print. The MFD's would have to be close to same size as other aircraft. They probably would match F18 maybe, ok cool I think I have a plan. Thanks!
  8. I was reading the Av8b flight manual and notice in the back there is a cockpit layout sheet for the left and right panels and front dash. Is there a way to figure out the correct dimensions for the panels and the dash? EDIT- Corrected 2 panels to hopefully the correct size. Well close, I setup them up with 3 parts Top panel middle plate to bolt top too! Bottom box to be 3d printed. I figured the bottom box since F360 is free I will leave it 2d and anyone can extrude the box to there specific size. Please feel free to grab and critique. EDIT- 11/26 I have found some flaws to the panels and I have updated to what I think might be latest version. Moving lettering to 5mm and adjusted panel sizes accordingly and moved the 12mm wholes to 12.20. I m sorry for anyone looking at them I think this is the lastest though! I have changed 4 and working on the others. EDIT-3/24/20 Added Landing gear panel and Temp throttle plate. Gonna try to produce my own throttle. EDIT-3/20/20 Just FYI I ran across a dimension issue that I wanted to point out. I built the radius's to the panel to hold them in place with 5mm allen bolts. SO for every panel I measured per this doc \https://mycockpit.org/tutorials/Panelbuildingfocussedondimensions.pdf holes 9.525mm until I got the desired length of panel. Then because I am going to Allen bolts I based the radius of the top panel the 1.588 radius around allen bolt with 8.5mm head not the DZUS size bolt head. Just needed to make this clear for just in case it is noticed. I had forgot I did this and was thrown off I realize maybe I should be writing design notes down! 9. I currently don't use steamVR nor do I run Oculus Home when I fly. When i start DCS its starts the Rift it takes about 30 to 45 sec.
  10. For the UH1 Simshaker does have 2 settings for "Main Rotor Whirl High" and "Main Rotor whirl low" and it can be turned up. Maybe this is the beat of the rotors. Might want to ask over in the simshaker for avaitors post in the input output section.
  11. Hannibal, You can use rift audio and simshaker at the same time. Keep your default audio to the rift but plug the amp to the transducer in to the center/subwoofer port of another sound device. Like extra sound card or on board sound. Then point simshaker to the sound device you have the amp and transducer plugged in too. Simshaker is designed to see all sounds devices.
  12. I just had help from Thrustmaster thru email support. I got the same instant email after maybe 2 to 3 business days they got back to me!
  13. How does the licensing procedure go for being able to simulate a aircraft. Does each simulatons group have to get the license or once its out its available for all? Cause when you look at RAZBAM's webpage they don't have the ch-53 in there list for FSX. Only reason why I asked cause there is another group that has the ch53 for FSX. I had thought since RAZBAM was doing the AV8B was because they already had the license. I might be wrong about licensing?
  14. Outstanding Simpit! I like the Idea with the Front dash..
  15. I feel the same. I am still have dreams of building a 1.1 cockpit. Unless they come out with a headset that would allow you to see your home made cockpit thru the headset.
  16. I was wondering about the "Visibility Range" setting with the higher resolution? I think DCS for VR has a pre render distance that your clear picture would be clear but even to the max ultra Visibility range if your computer can handle that, it would be fuzzy again beyond that.
  17. aspect ratio could get thrown off, just manually type in and change it. Somtimes it would be correct in game but i would have to manually update the config file in the savedgame/users section. C:\Users\yourname\Saved Games\DCS\Config
  18. Congrats! I have CV1. To come clean, in the beginning I was put off about the low resolution but still I needed to try it. So I read post after post and what got me was the comment "But your just missing out on a great experience." So with that comment I got the cv1 knowing what to except.. I tried once to go back to monitors. And it was a fail I can't do it.If the game was design with vr in mind it displays alot better on a vr HMD.
  19. Oh ok sorry missed read the post I see now! Are using 1 screen or 3 screens in the config section of DCS, below the Resolution setting? 1 Screen should be used.
  20. I was having issues checking my six and looking up it would plunge the view into the seat. Anyways I had cured the problem with placement of the camera, it was to close and centered. I guess maybe the IR cone that it sent out was not big enough for the IR leds to be seen at certain times. I had to push camera back center it on the clip attached to the left side of my headset and the same height from the floor as the clip. I also had the proclip IR led were vertical in orientation, or horizontal to side my face. When in a dogfight and my views got weird cause I was thrashing about. I would check and the proclip was bumped and not straight. This fixed most of my problems. The distance i ended up from me was approx 3.5ft from the clip.
  21. Hello Bubbles great job on the pit! Wondering did you figure out a power supply to move the seat or you still using the drill. I found Youtube video if you have not seen it already a guy made his own with help of a friend maybe this might be a good direction to go.
  22. So in the Captoglove description it states it has "1 pressure sensor for thumb’s fingertip able to perceive pressure from 100 g to 10 kg.' So this pressure sensor gives the feeling of grabbing a object or pressing a switch of variable weight?
  23. Hey TripRodriguez, wondering what was the problem with CV1 in motion that you are trying the different headsets?
  24. Funny I thought Oculus was dropping there price to get all the inventory out because Zenimax took them to court again. If I read it right they filed for a injunction to keep them from selling or using any equipment and software that had Zenimax's programming in it. Of coarse I am not a lawyer. Wonder what would happen if Zenimax won would they be forced to stop supporting the rift of current users?
