Africa for WW2. It would open up a lot of different options for assets and aircraft. Something not many sims have focused on.

MASSIVE fps drop after update to 2.7
Devil 505 replied to flankerjun's topic in Game Performance Bugs
So after a bit of testing and flying with the latest update, I am happy to say my FPS is actually doing really well in VR. I discovered that since the update, when recording with OBS, it causes the jittering effect and strong hit to the FPS. Now do I have an answer why? Not yet. I have not tried using OBS outside of VR so others may have something different to say. I just got off of a flight with the Mig-15 running between 60 and 80 FPS on the Nevada map in a dog fight. The videos I posted in my prior post on this thread are running a solid 50 to 55 FPS without OBS running. I re flew the Mig-15 Landing training mission without OBS running and not a single issue. No jittering/ghosting effect and a solid 50 to 60FPS in VR. Last night I flew the hind on the Aerobatics Caucasus map with several others flying the hind. Ran around 40 to 45 FPS on take off with everyone and then jumped to around 50 to 55 while flying formation over the river with another player. I am really please right now with how it is running. Now if I can figure out what the performance hit with OBS is, I will be in good shape. The videos are not really worth recording right now in the current state it captures in (for VR). By all means, I am still down for optimizations, but I thought this might shed a little light on performance hits for some people. -
MASSIVE fps drop after update to 2.7
Devil 505 replied to flankerjun's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I have noticed a decent hit to the FPS from Open Beta 2.7.1.7139 to 2.7.2.7910.1. I only fly in VR (Pimax 8K). Update ****7139 actually increased my FPS. Recording in OBS was outstanding. When ****7910.1 was updated a few days ago, I have noticed a weird jitter with all aircraft when looking around the cockpit in VR and a hit to the FPS. I have also noticed OBS recordings are now stuttering pretty badly. Below are some videos I posted demonstrating the difference. Video 1 is Open Beta ****7139 with the P-51. There was a decent amount going on and the FPS was awesome. The effects after getting shot on my run were nothing but amazing in VR. Smooth FPS as the video demonstrates. Video recorded awesome. Video 2 is a side by side of the Mig-15 training mission landing the aircraft. I did the left video as soon as 7139 update released and I shot the right video today with the 7910.1 update. You can easily tell the differences. Video 3 and 4 were both shot today in the 7910.1 update flying the Hind and the Huey over Cypress. You can see the jittering I am experiencing in cockpit. FPS counter is displayed in each video, top left. The game is still playable and I will not stop flying, but the ghosting/jittering effect is annoying when looking around. The video recording looks a little worse than it actually is in the VR headset. This is by no means a trash video towards ED. I absolutely love the Hind and everything that was updated. There is no other way to fly than VR. I was blown away by the immersion when I jumped in the cockpit. Take time to look behind you in the Hind if you have VR on, pretty awesome what you have going on behind the pilots set. I think with a future optimization patch, this will fix the issues. I have noticed over the years FPS is a roller coaster with updates. I also noticed that when NVIDIA does a driver update, it can sometimes cause issues with ED updates. On another note, all drivers are updated for the graphics card. No setting have been changed in game or out between the two patches. The "fxo" and "metashaders2" folder were emptied as soon as update was applied. After every update I always empty those two folders. The only mods I have installed are as follows Anubis C-130, A-4E, T-45 Goshawk, and the Bell 47 V6. Please let me know if these mods have anything to do with performance issues. All are updated to the most current state. The only one I have flown in update 7910.1 is the T-45. Same issues with the jittering/ghosting effect when looking around the cockpit and FPS hit. PC specs listed below. Any assistance or confirmation of known issues would be greatly appreciated. Again, thanks for making my virtual aviation dreams come true. Please continue the hard work. It is beyond appreciated everyday after I get off work. Intel i9-9900K CPU @ 4.68GHz 16 Processors 32GB of RGB Dominator Pro 2133MHz Ram 885 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti w/latest driver version 466.77 (released 06/10) PIMAX 8K with latest Pi tool and firmware for headset -
Saw this video on YouTube a few days ago. Someone is doing a kickass UH-60 mod. Damn near looks third party quality. The developers is being quite, but this is recent video footage (May 18th). If anyone knows more than what is in the video or the comments to the video, I would like to know. This is a helo I have wanted for a long time in DCS, even if its a mod. Looks fantastic. Remind me of the Janes Longbow 2 days.

DEAR GOD! Since the stable update and NVIDIA update, things appear to be running better. But that is not why I am really here. If I could hug someone at ED I would. The level of immersion in VR with WW2 is starting to go straight through the roof. Flew this quick mission earlier with the Mustang and what ride it was. In VR when you begin to black out and the cockpit starts taking damage now, it a whole new ball game. Bailing out over the channel still feels like you are really about to land in cold water. I cannot thank ED enough for making my VR dreams a reality. And before it get mentioned, I killed the engine. Got so astounded by all the details going on inside the cockpit from being hit, I forgot to bring the mixture back and slow the RPM. Great job with the damage and engine model ED. VERY excited for the future of DCS WW2. Especially bombers someday. Below is the video I shot today of the encounter.

If you are looking for a good video regarding assets, this old Discovery Channel Wings documentary is perfect. For those who know little about the war, I highly recommend watching this. A lot of good content from the old Wins series

Glad to see the positive feedback. Great aircraft and believe it or not, I know a group of guys here that use to fly them and still maintain 3 static models here in Fort Worth, along with a massive list of other aircraft. Hope this becomes more than a side project at some point. It would be a ton of fun.

So I have not posted a Vietnam suggestion in a while, but after watching the short documentary below, WOW. ED really needs to bring the Bronco to DCS. Not only did it start in Vietnam and has since been flown in every major conflict, it still is being looked at to be used in the future. Every major conflict has seen it reinstated to the field. This is a perfect attack/recon aircraft to bridge a gap between Helo and Fighters. Not only that, the potential for multiplayer in this would be very exciting. A back seat spotter designating targets for Hornet or Viper drivers. The armament was pretty impressive and its short take off ability on virtually any surface makes this a prime candidate for all maps. Really hope to see this legend make it into DCS. Before anyone says it, yes I know Razbam has mentioned it and even had some screen shots of it, but I think it is on the shelf for awhile. They have their plates full with other projects. Let me know what you guys think about seeing the OV-10 makes its way to DCS.

Avro Vulcan XH558 - Mod by T-Pap
Devil 505 replied to T-Pap's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Looking forward to the update. I concur with the gents above. A lot of people out there who would probably be interested in helping you turn this girl into a full module. We all know the time it would take, but DCS is home to a lot of us and we would be willing to wait. This sim makes my dreams a reality every year. Looking forward what's to come with your mod. Good luck and looking forward to getting her in the air over the Channel -
I think with the new Falklands map coming from RAZ and its size will start to show promise for heavy bombers. I know their will be criticism from the fighter jocks (I am one to) but I remember the days of Megafortress back on IBM. I really enjoyed the challenge of using each station. I know it was not realistic, but I got the same vibe from the Anubis C-130 mod. Hopefully that comes to a third party development at some time. It is only a matter of time before we start seeing bombers surface in DCS. Be it the Vulcan or B-52, I am thoroughly down for one of these modules and I think a lot of others will be to.

Full Refund, Can you post a video on here of your 50 FPS to 70 FPS? I would like to see what your settings are at. Used to be able to pull it off but since 2.7 and NVIDIA driver updates, I am hovering in the lower 40's upper 30's. Here was a refresher course flying the Black Shark on the Syria map. If you have the Syria map, I would love to see a video with the FPS counter on to see how smooth its running.
-
So I just shot another video which I will post below tweaking the setting as some mentioned above. I did see a decent improvement in the FPS, at least pulling in the 40's now. I will continue to mess around with it but these are my settings so far in game. Time stamps are in the YouTube video to jump ahead to the combat. Also listed the owner of the music in the video description.

Ok Gents, I will try to keep this one short. Since 2.7 came out, I am blown away like everyone else with the clouds and new stuff added. It truly is a dream come true with VR and DCS. Something I have noticed is when DCS releases a new patch, it always seems like there is a tug of war with the NVIDIA drivers. I have read every possible advice known to DCS players on tweaking the VR settings to get max performance. As shown below, I know it can be done. These were videos shot not to long ago in my PIMAX 8K running in the 50 to 60 FPS range running high settings. My specs and settings are posted on another forum I started. I really hope ED can push VULCAN out this year. I have not changed any setting since the videos below and I am now rolling with an average in the 30's and dipping into the jagged 20's in populated city areas. I am going to try to reduced the cloud settings as everyone on here has stated and see where that gets me. If anyone from ED is reading this, can you possibly comment on Vulcan and when it may be ready? I am fired up for DCS to actually be able to utilize the full potential of my Intel i9. This first video was the day 2.7 released. Not bad at sea, but FPS drops pretty good inland.

So now that this thread is hopefully back on topic, any word from HB they can pass down about the A-6?

DCS: F-14 Development Update - Enter the -A!
Devil 505 replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Any news on the VR pilot coming anytime soon? I do not recall seeing it. Look forward to this, really brings the immersion level to the max. -
LOL!!! I love it! 386 PC. I am old enough to know exactly what that is. Going old school with the 286 IBM floppy's. I remember the upgrade to 3.75in hard disk and then moving into a CD ROM drive with my 486. The 486 was purchased with Janes Us Navy Fighters. Now I am Flying off of the super carrier. What a ride Sims have been since I was a kid. I remember my first one being F-19 Stealth Fighter. OLD SCHOOL.
-
I thought the same thing, but I still had to tune into the carrier frequency to get in contact with the Tower. Also make sure you are in T/R+G mode. Here is a video I did today flying the newly installed EFM model with my PIMAX 8K. LOVE it. Absolute blast in VR. They still need work on comms with the super carrier such as calling the ball, but it still works a lot better than it did before. Another thing I noticed was when taxing up to the CAT, when the deck crew gives the signal to accelerate forward, you have to rock the throttle a little to get her hooked in. There is also an issue where the pilot reds/blacks out when hooking up to the CAT. The only other issue I have noticed and it may be my flying, is when I touch down on the deck and catch the wire, the nose will shoot into the air at times. Please watch the video below on the first trap and let me know if I am to fast or coming down to hard. Not sure if this is pilot error or a bug. Keep up the amazing work. Really loving this aircraft. I will post a night flight here soon using ILS on the carrier. I expect it to be just as scary as the F-14 with all the red lights.

ED, I am sure you have a lot of good info already for the ready room but I have never seen this video before and it would be outstanding to implement some of these features. This video gives a lot of good details of the locations of the ready room, noise factors, uses of the room, greenie board info, a nice touch being a bolt over a pilots chair for bolters ect... I encourage anyone to watch this video. It shows how the ready room would bring depth to DCS in multiplayer.

The Gazelle is one of my favorite Helos next to the Huey. Did a quick flight out to the ship on the DCS Aerobatics server last night with my PIMAX 8K. Nothing comes close to DCS in VR, especially the Gazelle with its open cockpit. LOVE IT! I encourage anyone who enjoys the Gazelle and fly's in VR to post their videos here. Really fired up for the Kiowa.

Given the fact that I know where the "real" F-35 simulators are located, I am fairly certain I know exactly what you sat in and flew, it is not the "real" F-35 simulator. Unless you are current service with the hooks ups, a pilot for the armed services, or a Lockheed Martin employee again with the hook ups, you flew a watered down version using Lockheed Martin Prepare 3D. The stick and throttle were more than likely Bug Eye Technology replicas of the F-35. If you are prior/current service and were fortunate enough to get into what the pilots train in, then good on you, but because I work with this stuff every day and know the clearances and strings that need to be pulled to get into the real sim, I am going to go with you probably did not fly the real one. It was nothing more than a fancy tech demo. I am no pilot for the armed services, and all I can go off of is what I have heard from the gents I know and work with around the world. So maybe there are some out there that prefer the old Harriers over the 35, but again, as you said its all opinion. In the end, the performance of the F-35 clearly impressed the USMC and the UK or they would not be replacing all their Harriers.
-
I currently work with F-35 pilots from around the world and have never once heard the aircraft referred to as a "Unicorn" and two have not a met a pilot yet that flew Harriers who did not want to transfer to the F-35. Like the Intruder pilots, when the Harrier squadrons with the USMC are being phased out, they are transitioning into the F-35 Bravo. There has been some adjust going from the Harrier to the 5th Gen technology no doubt, but never has a pilot said it is not capable of doing the sorties the Harrier could accomplish. As a matter of fact, the USMC were the first to use the Bravo in combat gaining the first confirmed kills in the US. Israel beat us to the punch with confirmed combat kills. Now the two jets compete for combat time on deployment. So FACT, the above statement is shit and Lightning can complete a Harriers mission criteria with no issues. The only thing you are going to hear is a pilots love for his/her older aircraft leaving service. It is a respect thing for all the hard time they have put in with the Harrier and memories of successful deployments with her. Same for the Britts that have made the same transition to the B model.
-
Lets not disregard the primary role of the intruder during Vietnam and its success ratio flying Iron hand as well as strike missions and avoiding SAMs. Before you say it, yes there were SAM casualties of course, but to say the aircraft just cant survive at slow speed is an inaccurate assumption. There are a lot of Navy a Marine pilots that would strongly disagree. As a matter of fact, many stuck with the old girl instead of going over to the Hornets until forced to. As far as avoiding Migs, most were guided by the surface to air radars during Vietnam, so they had a major disadvantage over fighting the Intruder. If you are talking DCS and putting it in an unrealistic or should I say no historic role against fighters it was never intended to fight, then the point is mute. The reality is, we have the Hornet and Tomcats there to provide Air support the Intruder and our beloved Crusader is inbound at some point to. All I can say is I have not been this happy for Naval Flight Simulation since Janes US Navy Fighters. DCS and their third parties are making my simulation dreams come true. The high fidelity super carrier combined with the A-7, F-8, F-14, F-18, A-6 is damn close to complete. All we need to complete the show is the Phantom and the A-4. Plus it would be really nice to see Pollychop knock out some Naval Helos. Sea Sprite, Seahawk, Sea King, Sea Knight ect....
