  1. Only one small circle? Sounds like you are not in the ILS cone. Think of it as a cone, extending from the Runway and you need to be inside it to get all of the circles. Maybe try it in good weather, activate ILS and fly a visual approach this way you should see everything. If not then you missed something. You have to setup correct frequency, Direction and you have to activate with the Button in the HSI.
  2. I do and i also piloting Gliders and Ultralight Planes in RL but never experienced anything like this... Even when landing on wet grass with heavy crosswinds its not nearly as bad as i experience it currently in the Viper. Even in DCS landing the P51 or the D9, the Hornet or the Harrier in Crosswind isnt a Big Deal compared to this as it is currently. Please show me some Tapes or Video with Control Input visible. Especially bbrz, please show me. I tried to take off in 15 kts crosswind and evenwith full Rudder Input the plane was drifting away heavily while on the Ground, so it would be intresting how you do it with 10kts more.
  3. Maybe there is some progress but its currently not in a state to show to the public?
  4. Do you manage heavier crosswinds in the Viper?
  5. Hey, i think the Crosswind behavior at landings needs a real Update. Didnt manage to made a save Landing in Crosswinds higher than 5kts and even 5 are a scary.... So i want to find out, is it me or does this still need tweaking? Would be Happy to see Tapes and/or Videos or some of your findings.
  6. since currenlty not much working around CMDS i would guess 2 weeks
  7. just to reduce the problem further: Is the TGP your SOI when you try to lock and Lase? Because yesterday i needed a while to find out why i cant point track my target even when i was able to move the camera and stuff... Until i found out that the TGP wasnt SOI.
  8. since it somehow relates to that.... Does anyone know how to adjust the pressure faster? For example: i had a setting of 3004 and Tower called a pressure of 2887..... I even gave up to reach the adjustment... Waht i tried was the mouse wheel and i tried to click and move the mouse but both technices are working just so slow that you only can do fine adjustments. Is it my fault or is it something that needs adjustment?
  9. stay tuned. If the prolems still occur when ED call it Finished, THEN we can worry. Currently we just talking about ED doesnt priorize the Tasks not the way we would probably like to see but they will have there reasons and they will do a proper job. Lets wait with the panic until later :D
  10. I experience this roll too, i have a Warthog Stick but i dont think thats the cause. I did a Test with a very large Deadzone just to find out if its maybe some Rudder Input Problem and it still moves slightly. Maybe the Trim isnt perfectly centered by default?
  11. pretty sure it was the Missile Step, at least in that other misterious Sim we all use to compare with this Model :D
  12. Hi, i think the FM is still W.I.P. but please consider optimizing the behavior in low speeds and on touchdown. As you can see in this Track Files in no wind conditions the Plane wont settle down even after touchdown it trys to climb again and i have to give lots of Stick Input to prevent it from flipping over. In the 10kts Crosswind Track you can see that its more of a battle to keep it on the Runway. Full Stick Input and Rudder is needed and this isnt even close to the maximum crosswind of this Plane. If you watch it right after touchdown the right Tire bounces up. This happens every time, no matter which wind direction, sometimes more sometimes less. seems like theres a Spring in the Right Tire which bounces the Plane up. no_wind.trk 10kts_wind.trk
  13. Well maybe the Viper is a bit harder to land because its lighter, but light still means about 10 tons. I landed in RL Planes with a crossweight of about 0.5 tons and they are by far less dangerous in crosswinds. With 10 knots at an direct 90 degree angle i hat to push the stick fully to the right that the wind doesnt throw the plane over while pushing hard into the rudders to keep it somehow at the Runway. Have you guys even tried landings with 10kts crosswind?
  14. Yes there is a DED Menu where you can check the Alignment Status. Not sure without sitting in the Pit but i think LIST -> ICP6 is the Menu where it should be when its implemented.
  15. The Crs Knob only works when you use the Mousewheel. Every other Button, like QNH for example, works if you click left Mouse Button and then move the Mouse Left or Right
  16. no of course not. It just looks terrible wrong especially if you have a Graphic Design Background then its a punch in the Face :D Maybe its correct to have it bigger but are your sources sure that its that much bigger?
  17. Meh this Video just skips the interesting part of this Topic. So far it just was a landing in windy conditions, you can see that he doesnt keep the Plane straight before touch down and that he did a little bit overcorrection on Flare. The interesting part happens after touchdown which you cant see in this video.
  18. Im not sure if this is allready a Bug or not, so i ask for your experiences on the Topic. I find the Viper reacts really sensitive to crosswinds. Even 5ktn Crosswind makes it difficult to keep the Bird straight on Start and makes it difficult to land. The Viper is designed to land at 18ktn Croswind so 5ktn shouldnt be a Problem. It allready begins when taxing slow that the Bird driftes according to the wind. The Gear should put you straight right after touchdown, but i havent experienced this behavior also. I did a little bit of training and can barely manage to do save starts and landings at 10knt crosswind. What are your experiences?
  19. But there is still one Bug in this, even when you get the TACAN to work and maybe Wags should consider checking if he really tells all the preferences in his Academic Videos like turning the TACAN On, which should only affect the Volume anyways.... The Label TACAN OFF in the DED is Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge. Should be corrected some day in EA.
  20. When on Final Approach i should be able to reduce clutter when pushing the MSL Step Button. e.g. removing the ILS Symbols and Waypoint cue. Not sure if this is consodered Bug or if its just not implemented yet.
  21. Good idea to learn flying first. But the F-16 is an easier Plane than the Tomcat due to its Fly By Wire. Flying shouldnt be much of a Problem in normal conditions. At Night an in Bad Weather will be the interesting stuff. Hopefully ILS is in at Release. Is it just me or are most DCS Pilots just Good Weather Pilots since i rarely read something about Crosswind or Bad Weather Condition Problems in any Subforum. :pilotfly:
  22. you where right. it seems i had forgotten that you dont really land a F-18, you ram it into the ground. If you do this everything is fine. Sure you can fine tune it maybe with different speeds and maybe some airbraking using your control surfaces (depending on your speed) but the main point is just ram it into the ground, dont try to land it like a plane. The brakes seems still a bit to weak for my taste but now they work at least.
  23. So if bbrz is right, the correct procedure is to touch down with a bit of thrust, just like on a carrier landing but without giving full thrust after touch down.... lets try it.
  24. Im using Pedals and was about 110 knots until i startet breaking roughly half way through the Runway in Batumi and was at full Speed Brakes. At the end of the runway i had still around 80 knots so maybe i was to fast at the beginning but it still felt like i had no brakes at all. So fake Idle sounds like a solution i will try. Thanks to all of you. Is this Bug or Feature?
  25. Is it just me or are the Wheel Brakes far to weak? Did a few Runway Landings and had a hard time bringin this Bird to a full stop. I had Speed Brakes fully extended and hitting the Brakes hard but the Runway is barely enough to bring it to an stop. Anti-Skid is on so slipping is not the problem.
