  1. About the Fenestron producing a roll effect on the Gazelle I received the intel today that it does not a all in hover or slower speeds. The reason for this is the fact that it is at nearly the exact same level of the gravitational center. The Gazele hangs low skid right to counter the drift cause by the maindisc and the Fenestron push to counter the torque. So I am not completely certain but I think I saw this mentioned in one of the descriptions here. @docWilly can you maybe make a video of what you express there and the others too? It kind of gets hard to folow all the taking sometimes and understanding everybody, plus all the input fro the french side at the moment that we get. Would be cool to have something visual to check and understand wat you guys encounter or miss.
  2. Criticism is not felt as an attack here. Today I had 120 minutes of a phonecall and guess what. The resume of the phonecall was that the real SA342M is a lot easier to fly then what the DCS version is currently. But that is stuff we have to talk through on our side without the puplic for now, cause some stuff was even for me enlighting and still, even if a pilot tells me what she does or does not, people tend to think it is wrong. We had that before which is fin to me, but what I really do not like to see is that people start to fight in the Gazelle changelog topic about if this is a script or other stuff. That is why I wrote that we can have the admins open a threadwhere all can say what they want and fight with bloody noses, but I also have to add that we will not attand that fght, cause we have to adjust details now in the flightmodel and focus for a few more updates. About calling it a witchhunt, well it was just a picture of how sometimes articles can be read from an outside perspectiv, which I always try to do to stay openminded for what is written. Ohh and about th questions that were sent to the french ilots, 2 out of 11 cm from my side, the rest was driven by the community and thier observations. Some stuff was observed correct but other stuff had results I did not even expected. Let me tell you guys one little thing about the real Gazelle. It seems to be easier to fly then then we all think, but I hope people will soon understand and see the changes
  3. Hmm, am not making fun of any of you guys, but it is entertaining to red what opinions people have, why something can be or can not be. I am overwhelmed sometimes too. Nobody ever mentioned that the Kiowa can be operated fully with a single pilot in real life, which could be important for a game too, as I figured that multicrew does not always work, but we are on it to solve with strong support from Eagle Dynamics the multicrew code issues that rose. Any Helicopter you or we could come up with have thier ups and downs. Some are more likely some are less, but I personally have the additude that nothing is impossible, it is just a way how to approch things that limits yourself. Once someone told me I can not fly to moon, so I started to prepare to fly to mars. I hope you get what I mean by that and I see it coming, this statement could end up in another speculation. Let us have an agreement ok. We will share some intel if the community is not pressing on us for a release ? I know it will not work that way cause peope always are like children. I am myself similar like that. If i could have the F18c today I would have it for sure, same are other people ut there, so I will talk with Patrick about it and maybe we share something at christmas, but no promise, cause it also depends on his vote as my bussinesspartner. Ok, I have to write a summary of the intel I received today of the real french Gazelle compared to what there is now in the sim and the questions I asked. Have a nice weekend as always.
  4. to be precise, we have not confirmed anything about our 2nd module at all. I hope hints or speculations might not give a false picture, or maybe they should, who knows, but until we have not made an official statement and show pictures or videos of a new product nothing is official. We really will not share anythign to a certain stage cause we want to have the peace to produce without pressure and bring awesome products to life. Even if we show somethign about some future works, the official stuff could already be outdated.
  5. Hi guys, defending or attacking our work brings us to nothing then a spiral of heat. So letscut this here and keep this thread for the changelogs. If you guys want to fight it our in a thread we can ask the forum admins if we can open such that iscalled fight for the right on the FMs and there you guys can shed blood, but certainly pat and I will not read in that thread cause it is anything else but constructiv. That said I hope at some point that some he so felt witchhunt might be over soon and all can move on to new journeys.
  6. The datalink of the Kiowa is called L2MUM and works between the Kiowas themself just fine. Other options in which way it works are restricted I fear, so sorry that I do not give intel on that. What does the L2MUM look like. Well you see the other L2MUM Kiowas on your moving map that has the HSI overlay. About the lasing, yes it is possible to lase for any platform that uses laserguided ammunition. You can laze for Ah64a/D that hover in the backfield and wait for the laze, then they pop up, shot thier hellfire and the tank is history. That is what it lasing was initialy designed for, ut during the course of time more laserguided ammunition saw the battlefield and as long you and the platform have the same lasercode all is well and you can guide any bomb or missile that has your lasercode into your desired target. This little helicopter is capable of way more then only scouting. When you talk to the infantry guys of the past desert conflicts and afghanistan they will tell you that these helicopter faught right at the knifeedge of the enemy. I heard of one story where a female Kiowa pilot emptied her personal selfdefense pistol at TB fighters at a range of 50 feet cause they were low on ammo. I think we will never hear of such stories from Apache pilots.
  7. Hmm, well maybe I should have written "which one would you like to see as possible next or 3rd product" I wonder what people will do if we show a video of a Ah64D block 2
  8. We will probably talk about this topic here on the weekend. Thanks for pointing it out
  9. @scarecrow: not a complete overhaul of a flightmodel is needed, just some adjustments. Do you know how long it takes to model a flightmodel? criticis is nice, but they have to stay resonable in my personal opinion and talking about something that makes no sense is everything but respectful and diplomatic, to catch this point.
  10. No for any military helicopter that uses SATCOM
  11. he following will not be possible the be simulated at any cause SATCOM satellite communications Secure/anti-jam communications These areas, even if DCS would bring the Satelite communication in as soon there might be a globe to fly on, these systems are highly classified. To hot to touch
  12. enjoy :joystick:
  13. @smokin hole: I had some talks yesterday to an us army pilot and a royal army pilot about these numbers. It was a very interesting talk to bth and how they approached these numbers from different perspectives. We even talked about stuff lick musing and such, but at some point we have to understand that DCS is a game/simulations even with its own limits and there is now way that real life will be simulated to 100%. For that you would have to start a simulator engine from sratch and make a concept what you want to simulate in which detail. Still we add details in the fm as soon we have solved values and aspects of how to include the intel
  14. @exil: I dd not take anything as offense. Just tried to explain where the numbers come from. But unfortunately I have no such numbers specific tot he gazelle at the moment. Trying to get the correct numbers for her cause they differ a bit in little do to some specific factors, but it would fill a complete page to explain why and where it comes from and how the manuver is flown and so on and so on. Simulating a rotor is not comparable to a fixed wing at all from which we could generate windtunnel simulations as soon we have the airfoil. A rotor is a bit more complicated. I like the phrase " a bit " So as you guys can see, I am striving to find good and reliable intel on certain things. Funny is that real pilots never think of such intel cause they just fly and do the things they have to do.
  15. These numbers are from a Flightmanual of the US Army that is called manuvering flight handbook. I talked to one of my us army contacts and these numbers do fit well for the majority of all helicopters cause it takes all into concideration and it deals with coeficient calculations of rotors. There is way more described in these manuals and I do know that the us army does not come up with made up numbers cause lifes depend on it a lot, so exil, you can believe the numbers
  16. Thanks, I will test this with our internal testbed and the DCS 2.1 version to see what is going on. The following should be similar to any helicopter out there Bank Angle -------- Increase in Tr (%) 0 --- 15 --- 3.6 30 --- 15.4 45 --- 41.4 60 --- 100 [resource US Army aviation] The percentages shown are not a direct torque percentage, but the percentage of torque increase required based on aircraft torque to maintain straight and level flight. That is, if indicated cruise torque is 48% and a turn to 60 degrees is initiated, a torque increase of 48% (96% torque indicated) is required to maintain airspeed and altitude. As mentioned I will check that tomorrow
  17. which version are you playing?
  18. to 1, this is a helicopter and in general helicopters are flown with a 3 finger grip in reallife. you will have to counteract the forces applied, so a fast roll needs a counterroll input to stop newtons laws to act on the disc. I hope i did understand your number 1 correct and could maybe shine a bit light into this. nb2 has 2 very simple factors influencing this. mechanical delay and inertia. even a mass in rest has an inertia. hard to believe but it does. forces like that cause a felt minimal delay plus even if lift is built up on the blades, inertia, gravity and some other forces have to be overcome. in addition the blades are flexible which mean that even there you will have a slight delay by the forces acting to the cabin cause they will act on the blades first and bend, coning, them which needs a few miliseconds too. all these factors adding up will result in a stack of effects that result in that felt delay. i hate to compare the huey, but there such a delay is way more pronounced and even other factors like the underslung non articulated blades add to this effect. I hope this might have helped a bit to understand this effect.
  19. For the people that do not feel any difference, please be aware that the current changes only apply to DCS 2.1 , NOT for DCS 1.5.7 yet. There is for sure a difference, guarranted
  20. Just to mention, there will be some surprises for some people and we are looking forward to see first reactions soon. The FM is not final though, consider it more a bigger chnage and some little finetune is still happening here and there. I was able tofly the new fm on the weekend and I felt it is going the absolute right way, and hell I died a couple times doing full acrobatic stuff, but people will defenately see for themselfs soon.
  21. @Jester986: Thanks a lot for your detailed description. I will take this and sve it to my document of flightmodel descriptions and issues, so I can have it reiewed by one of the french guys soon. The more detailed descriptions I can have from real pilots the etter it is in total.
  22. To all, yes we do read the topics and the reports. Not every day but very regularly. So today I want to respond tothe latest post. @Rex854Warrior: First, thank you for your report. I liked the joke abot the flightmodel ;) e are checking the Multicrew code which is on priority 1 for us at the moment, but this could take a bit till all is figurred in code. About the M version. 1 - We are checking what we can update and already talked about something else of the viviane system. French gazelle pilots surely know what is missing and what patrick and I discussed lately too. 2 - investigating soon 3- see above Mistral 1- bigges issue is to gain actual data about the seakers and then it is a big question if this is applyale to the dcs code. I will talk with pat about it if it cn be updated and changed. 2- these covers should stay off. forwardng this. might be that the code does not run the part where the visibility is set to 0. Have to check. 3- checking but not sure if data is available. Most documentatio about the L version and the weapons like the miystrals ad gun are destroyed and inaccessable. L/M 1-checking 2- checking 3- checking all gazelles: 0 - well :D 1- it only has a visual warning light. no sounds 2-RWR is still restritd and we are not allowed to talk or reall replcate this part. We did a work around but specialmodes are unavailable, same for code charlie communication, which uses uniwue algorythms for the classification of transmission 3- good question. it makes no sense true. Forwarding to pat that this makes no sense. 4- i think something like that is already planned. We talked about something like that this week.
  23. Yes at the moment we are only 2 guys, but hopefully we will increase the team very soon by a few people. Interesting is the fact that we also work on a new product already while updating and fixing the Gazelle here and there. I am not stating any stage of the new product here at the moment cause we want to have the freedom for development without being pressed to release it. I see interesting stuff coming for 2018 :pilotfly: :joystick: :pilotfly:  :music_whistling:
