Hi guys. As it was already mentioned, it was a basic question. There are not defenite plans for a DCS civil helicopter yet, but we were interested in the opinions. What we think personally is not a part of the topic here, if we would like to release a civil version or not. The topic was discussed on the facebook page already so there are additionl statements about this and the reasons for the questions

Jump into another aircraft, not available in SA342
borchi_2b replied to Redglyph's topic in Bugs and Problems
please read the update page for recent updates ********** 03/12/2017 ********** - Fixed heading during autohover - Fixed lateral gliding when starting at moving ship - Restored "Jump into selected aircraft" command - Fixed continuous lasing your issue was adressed. not sure when it will be released on an update though cause we do not know when the 2.1/1.5.7 will be updated -
Which collectiv effect?

@snowtiger: Please activate the magnetic trim button. This magnetic trim button does not only allow you to use magnetic trim, it also enables the trim cooliehat on your stick.

@gpelfort: I was talking about the autorotation. about nothing else. About the roll, different story. Has the mentioned instructor made a barrelroll on retirement ? Well my personal contact switches to the 4th air regiment soon. But yeah if your contact has worked out the latest testing series with both of them they should know him. Problem for me is, i do not speak french and athere are a few guys on the list here. Well for the other planned module we already have handpicked testilots that all together have many thousand flighthours on that helicopter and combat experiance in that particular aircraft. One of them flys DCs nearly daily again after his transition to ea new airframe. So yeah, I know the different views of pilots and the pbstacles to it. In the end it is more an impression for details when a flightmodel has reached a certain stage.

Abput all the dicsussions, basically, what IÄ figurred is, that sometimes people have not updated the gazelle lately. So for my believes it only makes sense to keep arguing when everybody is on the same track with the version.
-
@holbeach: a retired Royal Army Gazelle and Lynx pilot came back to me with the following about the autorotation. For him, after the last update it feels as it should be. So about the autorotation, you have to manage your rotor rpm with your pitch. Try to keep it at a high level. I even overspeed at the decend to have enough energy for the last pitch.

hey, i just wanted to sound smart at least once :music_whistling::D:joystick::pilotfly::smartass: Well my dad fly RC helos and I have flown them too in the past. Fact is, in basic they share the same physics, but in terms of rotor designs, and here it already starts with the airfoils and gos down to some differences in the rotohead itself, I would never compare a Rc helicopter with a big real pessenger helo, cause there are differences. for example the rotor dis rpm. just to mention it. The RC helo can produce way more lift in comparison and forces will act more violently in first place, so a real helicopter has a different momentum and a different inertia too that all makes it move different in details. Many details make huge ammount. So to speak abut it. I am happy to read that people conversate about helicopter flight in general.

just to mention something important. Offsets in a fully articulated rotosystem like gazelle, bell 407, bo105 or any modern helicopter are not 90°. they are more likely less and something like 45° to 60°. It depends on the rotor design and the way it is articulated. Just wanted to mention that ;):pilotfly::joystick:

ok I got you. checking with pat
-
That CH53 at mildenhall was very likely a MH53 Pave Low
-
ok, so you are using the trim hat for trim ? magnetic break works fine as primary trim ? lately some changed in the fm also in the system itself. I need to check if a trimhat is still available and is also available in the real aircraft. I remember we talked about somethin many weeks ago, but i need to check with patrick about it
-
Yes it is allowed to fire HOT in forward flight till 150kph and has been done also in combat
-
@Jester: Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It was interesting to read your informations. At one point I got confused about the direction of the effects you described, cause it looks like you describe it for a counterclockwise rotatation. Am I right ?
-
Hi, greetings from the french pilots, the landing and hover will always be right skid low. as soon you lower the speed you have perpendicular to speed and winds a right roll in your aircraft. As jester stated, this has to do with the translating tendency.

No it works for both versions. I prepared the tutorial in 1.5.7 I will be online soon

If you can hold the breath a few more days that would be cool. I am working on a tutorial for the new functions and how this can be implemented into your way of fighting.

Centric nature of the cyclic in the Gazelle.
borchi_2b replied to FragBum's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
The idea is not a to bad idea, it depends right now if such a reding of 2 pages would end in the desired results. I have a plan for the future module to maybe have the community ask questions on a lifestream event as soon we think we can show something. I already talked to the chief testpilotabout that idea many month ago and since he is a good friend of mine he agreed for such a session. We thought about doing similar suff for the gazelle, but since english is not the nativ language of the french army pilots we scratched that for now. What I will do is at least 2 tutorial videos for the comunity in the coming weeks. One will be about the new scout functions that were added to the system andow they can be used in a tactical battlefield. 2nd will be about the questions asked and raised by us and the comunity and how this effected the flightmodel in the past weeks. Also I thought about to explain how the real helicopter is flow by the army ilots and why that is that way. -

2: Question: does the gazelle unbalance when there are missiles fired and for example 2 tubes filled on one side and the opposite side is empty ? ANSWER: Barely noticable. Only noticable on transitions at low speeds in hover and low speeds if there are a fat crewchief and 2 Missiles on one side which will unbalance the helicopter a bit. just to show you guys one of the direct answers -
Centric nature of the cyclic in the Gazelle.
borchi_2b replied to FragBum's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
@FragBum: The blowback and flip forward only occures in the gazelle in relativ forward flight, according to the paper I recieved during the past days. -
not every scout. is a scout. i would not concider the bo105 or the 342m as scouts in first place. they are light weighted little anti tank helicopters, more like a wasp hunting for bees. both bo105 and sa342 lack most of the real. communication stuff and many goddies the kiowas for. example have, what later the ec655 tiger uhu received for the german forces. what is interesting about this topic here? you see most people also are. tending to vote more national thinking. french guys vote for the tiger and the us guys for the W
-
@Headwarp: You observations are correct. The autopilot does chase the additude not the stick in the gazelle, so the magnetic trim always needs a functioning AP to work at all. There is more to it will hopefully discuss with Pat on the weekend but for now, yes that is the one function that we implemented into the helicopter and that is how the magnetic trim works in the french Gazelle.

and the W can make use of Hellfires which are not a bad choice by the groundunits given in DCS

Centric nature of the cyclic in the Gazelle.
borchi_2b replied to FragBum's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
ok. I tried to understand all of this during the past days and I fear one thing. The discussion is up for some time. Do to the updates that we released we need to have the people check if they see the same observations in DCS 1 .5.7 exclusivly, cause it has the latest files and if so I would like to agree to pick up the conversation from the on. For me it makes no sense to talk about stuff and pushing it back and forth if we are not talking about the latest version, cauee as you can see some stuff is already fixed and it only causes confusion if people stay on an old track. -
@QuiGon: It is aimed at all the assumtions of all customers. I personally find it highly interesting to see reasons for and against projects. I am with you on the fact that others had to give up on projects, why I really like to research before, if it is doable in the sim or not, or lets say, if we have the knowledge to do it. Accessing intel on certain helicopters is sometimes easier and sometimes harder. For example people yellling for the Mh6 have to understand that it is still in active duty and used by JSOC and SOCOM and that do to these circumstances it is completly restricted and not possible to be done. I only figured that out in the course of research and talks to people at BOEING that were or are involved with that project, and by that I mean we met personally somewhere on this globe. "somewhere on this globe" :) can not believe I wrote this. For example we do aim to get a license from the manufacturers for all of our products. Different approach by different 3rd parties, but we figured that this is a good approach, but we also know that some manufacturers are willing to give licenses and others are not. For the products that will not get a license we have to solve certain aspects a bit different, but that are details customer do not need to bother with. Fact is, we are small at the moment and I want to have our company grow slowly. We have good links to the manufacturers and do not depend on the armies in first hand but like to work with our military contacts aswell. Still, projects like a Tigre for example is anything then easy to achiev for many many reasons, but I would never say it is impossile, cause that would already shrink us in our mental state. But one fact is given from our side. We will not do something that we can not achieve, which is why I have not approached the RAH66 or the MH6 or AH1Z Viper, cause these are really impossible without running into interogations by NSA and lawyers. So no, I do not like such a party at my private appartment at all. That said, I like the conversations I see lately here, it seems after our last update the heat is not as hot anymore and the tone becomes more friendly. Thanks for that
