  1. The Tomcat is a very Stick+Rudder jet. You can get away with flying it without rudder input as long as you are slow and deliberate, but as soon as you get into any kind of high G maneuvering (basically any kind of combat maneuvering) requiring both ROLL+TURN you will need a lot of rudder input to keep the jet stable without departing. When it was first released, suddenly there were a lot of virtual air jockeys who were used to fly by wire jets who couldn't wrap their heads around how to fly the tomcat without putting it into a spin as soon as they hit any kind of high AoA maneuvering. It's very challenging to fly properly compared to FBW jets, but also a lot more rewarding. It's definitely my favorite fixed wing aircraft in DCS by a long mile.
  2. @Karon ED might very well be unaware of the problem, if this is an unintended consequence (read > bug) of some other changes they made. You have an ED Closed Beta Tester Team tag, so you probably know best how this works and how many new bugs are introduced for every one they squash.
  3. F4 BVR tactics: Detect bogey out of visual rage using your radar. Fly into visual range to get bandit confirmation, engage within visual range.
  4. WMR always felt like a terrible idea, and was terribly implemented to boot. There is a reason why Microsoft is getting rid of it. I'm not using my G2 because it's a hassle to set up correctly and WMR is a big part of that. I was looking for an excuse to sell it, and this is as good as any.
  5. No one cares.... No wait let me correct that, no one REALLY cares.
  6. Hi everyone. Are you still flying your 'Bolts? If so, how are you employing them and are you enjoying your experience with them in DCS World?
  7. https://theaviationist.com/2023/12/20/bob-pardo-has-died/?utm_content=cmp-true They don't make guys like this anymore. When they say someone has The Right stuff, this is exactly what kind of stuff they mean.
  8. So the more you fly the less smokey they become? That a really cool little detail if Heatblur modelled it.
  9. It's engines are crazy smoky, probably only when hitting afterburners right? Nice little detail in any case.
  10. Can the Eagle land on an aircraft carrier? No? I. Rest. my. Case.
  11. I've found that little blurb on Intel's site, but all the benchmarks I've seen of numerous games\multithreaded in Win10 vs Win11 have been within the margin of error. Not sure how that could be true if Intel\Microsoft did such a poor job on the the Win10 task scheduler. Sorry if Im being a pain about this, but if this is indeed true I will gladly upgrade to Win11 TODAY, but I would really appreciate some real world evidence beforehand.
  12. Can you please provide some evidence for this? This used to be the case over a year ago but this should have been patched by Microsoft, and I have been unable to find any benchmarks or evidence that this is still true.
  13. This should NOT be the case. The thread scheduler for Windows 11 exists and should fully work in Windows 10 as well. In fact this was patched in by Microsoft soon after the 12th gen Intel CPUs were released.
  14. Can you be more condescending? Is that even possible? What kind of person posts things like this?
  15. At this point, it's probably more realistic to expect the Phantom by the end of the year.
  16. Ahh the Widowmaker. A plane so renowned for it's ability to take it's pilots lives, it earned that dreaded moniker. Figures that it would be popular among keyboard jockeys.
  17. This is absolutely not true, you just have to know what you are doing and choose your engagements.
  18. The only thing worse than gamer white knights who defend their chosen game developers with a fervor bordering on the religious, are entitled whiners who believe that developers should owe them their souls.
  19. I'm surprised that Cobra confirmed what pretty much everyone already "knows" but no one wanted to state in any official capacity. The F4 is late, because the F15E had to come out first.
  20. This might be the first DCS Module that I will buy for it's system modeling alone. I mean obviously in BFM it's going to pretty much dominate every other fighter in the game, I mean it's a fly by wire 4.5 gen plane that will be the most advanced thing we have in the game by a long shot. I expect it to fly and behave like every other FBW plane flies and behaves, i.e. you can yank it around like it's a video game. (And yeah, I get the irony of that) I'm more curious in it's integrated systems and whether they will make me want to pull my hair out, or whether they will truly make my job as a pilot of a weapon delivery system much easier.
  21. It's kind of a nerd joke. You gotta be into Warhammer:40K to get it In the lore of that setting. Orks are a race of barely sentient but very brutal space faring creatures, that project a very powerful "psi" field which allows their technology (such as it is) to work. In essence, from their guns to their spaceships, their tech works, because they believe it works.
  22. Off topic, but since so many continue to bring it up: Q: How is development of the Eurofighter split between TrueGrit and Heatblur? A: The Eurofighter will be developed and published by Heatblur, and co-developed by TrueGrit through the addition of subject matter expertise, development support and technical resources. TrueGrit will continue to hold and manage the license agreement with Eagle Dynamics as well as other parties and trademark owners.
