  1. So is it possible to get the HP Reverb G2 to work on Win11 (without WMR) or do I just throw my extremely expensive piece of plastic in the trash now? I don't really mean for DCS either, since I probably won't be playing DCS ever again, just in general.....
  2. As long as it's released before I die, I think I'll be glad. If it gets released after I croak, I will be dead and won't care either way
  3. Eagle Dynamics will do whatever they want to do and use whatever rationale they need to. They don't need a bunch of keyboard warriors\airplane enthusiasts giving them a hard time, and rightfully so, they are the developer we aren't. No one really cares. The people who do represent a minor portion of their customer base. They need to make money, after all. The fact of the matter is that DCS World has some serious issues, and a new module that's not really up to snuff with regards to modeling is the least of these.
  4. They said that they are working on it. That's about as much info as you're going to get until they get close to release. It's the same MO they took after getting bit in the A$$ by releasing a lot of phantom footage early, and then no Phantom. Radio silence until they are almost ready is to be expected. Everything else is just too much of a hassle for a small studio that works on modules in their "spare" time. I for one have moved away from DCS, it got to a point where it was stress inducing instead of stress relieving with the amount of tweaking I had to do just to get in the air and enjoy a module properly, not to mention the fact that some of my modules are unsupported and no longer even work. This is not a dig at Heatblur at all, they work within the confines set by Eagle Dynamics and with how DCS World is setup. I am now lurking and waiting of the EF, which I decided will be my last module I purchase and try in DCS World.
  5. There is too much rubbish in this post for me to make a rebuttal post by post, so I will try to use a bit of logic. How many of those 2000 nuclear warheads were exploded in almost "ideal" testing conditions, far from any population centers or even any real rural populations. How many of those 2000 warheads were tested underground? How many were detonated over farmland? Were any detonated simultaneously? Just one ICBM missile submarine has enough firepower to strategically annihilate any single country state. Take note, these are weapons which would be fired AFTER the main nuclear exchange, intentionally targeting large population centers, just to make sure that the enemy does not have the chance to rebuild after any kind of initial exchange. You have heard of the term nuclear triad right? Well there is an entire arm of the nuclear triad (fielded by Russia and NATO) whose sole purpose is to inflict as much damage as possible on civilian targets and infrastructure after any nuclear exchange is actually won or lost.
  6. No amount of hardware you throw at it will give you perfect performance in DCS.
  7. Synthetic benchmarks have always been "iffy" and very easily manipulated at the driver\bios level. You need real-world performance if you really want to benchmark anything properly. Please check out Gamer Nexus very in-depth performance and efficiency benchmarking of this CPU.
  8. the i513600k is the last great chip that Intel made. Best bang for buck chip I have ever owned. Next cycle it's going to be AMD for me, unless somehow Intel bounces back. And I do hope they bounce back, because AMD is going to hike those prices up by a huge margin.
  9. If someone would want do a proper interdiction\bomber aardvark, I think there would be a lot of interest. An Interceptor version will always be just a niche, within a niche. Not happening.
  10. Now that the F4E has been released I think this topic deserves another look
  11. The Tomcat is a very Stick+Rudder jet. You can get away with flying it without rudder input as long as you are slow and deliberate, but as soon as you get into any kind of high G maneuvering (basically any kind of combat maneuvering) requiring both ROLL+TURN you will need a lot of rudder input to keep the jet stable without departing. When it was first released, suddenly there were a lot of virtual air jockeys who were used to fly by wire jets who couldn't wrap their heads around how to fly the tomcat without putting it into a spin as soon as they hit any kind of high AoA maneuvering. It's very challenging to fly properly compared to FBW jets, but also a lot more rewarding. It's definitely my favorite fixed wing aircraft in DCS by a long mile.
  12. @Karon ED might very well be unaware of the problem, if this is an unintended consequence (read > bug) of some other changes they made. You have an ED Closed Beta Tester Team tag, so you probably know best how this works and how many new bugs are introduced for every one they squash.
  13. F4 BVR tactics: Detect bogey out of visual rage using your radar. Fly into visual range to get bandit confirmation, engage within visual range.
  14. WMR always felt like a terrible idea, and was terribly implemented to boot. There is a reason why Microsoft is getting rid of it. I'm not using my G2 because it's a hassle to set up correctly and WMR is a big part of that. I was looking for an excuse to sell it, and this is as good as any.
  15. No one cares.... No wait let me correct that, no one REALLY cares.
  16. Hi everyone. Are you still flying your 'Bolts? If so, how are you employing them and are you enjoying your experience with them in DCS World?
  17. https://theaviationist.com/2023/12/20/bob-pardo-has-died/?utm_content=cmp-true They don't make guys like this anymore. When they say someone has The Right stuff, this is exactly what kind of stuff they mean.
  18. So the more you fly the less smokey they become? That a really cool little detail if Heatblur modelled it.
  19. It's engines are crazy smoky, probably only when hitting afterburners right? Nice little detail in any case.
  20. Can the Eagle land on an aircraft carrier? No? I. Rest. my. Case.
  21. Can you be more condescending? Is that even possible? What kind of person posts things like this?
  22. At this point, it's probably more realistic to expect the Phantom by the end of the year.
  23. Ahh the Widowmaker. A plane so renowned for it's ability to take it's pilots lives, it earned that dreaded moniker. Figures that it would be popular among keyboard jockeys.
  24. This is absolutely not true, you just have to know what you are doing and choose your engagements.
