None at all, as long as you make sure that you seat the cable properly: -
RTX 4080 & 7900 XTX/XT benchmarks DCS
Lurker replied to xoxen's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I wonder how the XTX will compare to the 3090RTX. Which I still rock, and which I quite like because of the large memory size and card bandwidth. If it's significantly faster it might be worth an upgrade, but if it's not I think I'm going to wait for at least another generation of cards to come round the bend. -
Wake turbulence in DCS World is seriously over-modelled.

Thanks for the reply Naquaii, my focus was on the DCSisms and game limitations, which is why I assume the rest of the thread was deleted by the mods. So I will not bother to respond directly. Let's just leave it at that, and not irk the wrath of the moderators any more. *edit* Well apparently part of the forum got deleted. Welp! Moderators not to blame, for once! Just joking.

Ok you get JDAMs. Ill grant you that. But the rest? Can you show me documentation where the APG-71 makes the AWG-9 less sensitive to notching? Pilot testimony? Anything? Also, even if it's true the DCSisms in the game will not make it work any better than it does. It's still an upgrade to a really old 60s radar. I mean you still have to guide the same missiles to target and those missiles still have the same limitations as before. Sure the PTID has a clearer image, yay for crappy pilot vision? Seriously there is very little that the D can do better than the B, I mean I know why people want it it's because they want to be "better" but better doesn't automatically mean more capable.
-
This. Especially when you take into consideration that anything that the D can do, a B can do just as well, if they have a well trained and coordinated crew. Yeah, the D is probably nice and easy with its digital FCS systems, and it's glass cockpit and HUDs and radar upgrades and whatnot, but the actual capability of the B is already there, it just takes more skill to use properly.

DCS World will never be ported to UE5 (or any other version of any other engine) It's not going to happen. However, at some point someone will definitely make a completely NEW commercial combat flight simulator that will for all intents and purposes be better than anything else on the market. It's inevitable. With VR on the uptake, it is going to happen. It might even be Eagle Dynamics who do so. It might be in 5 years or 10 but it will happen.

F-111 Pig (Aardvark), can it be the next HB project ?
Lurker replied to Raviar's topic in Heatblur Simulations
I wish I wish....there is only a whole thread about it here, but unfortunately I really, really doubt it: The are already making the F4, the Eurofighter and their next module after that will definitely be the Tadpole.- 58 replies

AIM-120 loses track on cold targets even with high relative velocity.
Lurker replied to Default774's topic in Weapon Bugs
Why not? I mean if the missile is in a tail chase and is losing energy at some point it will match the speed of the target and there will be 0 doppler shift. Track lost. -
If you mean the announcement trailer, I'd hazzard a guess that it was Meteor. He does all of Heatblur's music and AFAIK all of it is original work. You can however find a lot of his stuff online and on youtube, I knew of him even before he did any composing for Heatblur as he is quite a well known and prolific synthwave artist and I'm quite into that stuff

It doesn't matter. When they posted the Eurofighter announcement and teaser video, the EF looked to be really far along, people were saying oh it's coming out in a few months at the latest! It's all about perception.

OpenXR Guide - Deprecated - This time for real (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)
Lurker replied to nikoel's topic in Virtual Reality
G2 user here, just wondering if it's worth going to OpenXR over SteamVR right now with 2.8? (Haven't played for the last few major OB patches and never went the OpenXR route) -
I wouldn't expect a lot of these. Heatblur have burned themselves previously in the past with progress updates, since invariably they couldn't determine how that would translate into a probable ETA. It makes sense, I mean a module could be 90% completed, but if the last 10% takes 5 times as long as the 90% took, then all you would get is a missed ETA, after ETA and a lot of angry potential customers.

If you want direct control of the Apache, without the computer flight assist systems fighting you, you need to press and HOLD the force release trim button. This is how the real helicopter is designed too. Once you release FTR the computer once again will try and assist you to keep the helicopter in it's last known trim.

The answer to these types of questions is usually down to two things. Muscle memory and the use of input devices which do not correspond to actual aircraft cyclic and collective. The throw of our computer devices is much, much shorter, which in turn requires our movements to be much more miniscule for the same desired effect.

Any suggestion to engaging an opponent with meteor?
Lurker replied to Torbernite's topic in DCS: Eurofighter
With the missile guidance and AI logic that are out of the hands of Heatblur, the Meteor will probably not be a very potent missile at all. All it usually takes to spoof any radar in DCS World is basically hitting the notch for a second or two, which the AI usually do perfectly and with uncanny precision. Unless this is significantly changed in the interim while we wait for the Meteor and the Eurofighter, I don't see this missile being any more or less effective than any other active missile in DCS world. I.E. not very effective at all. -
investigating Large performance drop in VR after updating to 2.8
Lurker replied to some1's topic in Game Performance Bugs
This is not the solution. This is the antithesis of a solution. -
I for one have stopped playing DCS world. I haven't bought a module since the Hind. I don't plan to, unless it's something I know I will enjoy for at least six months. It's just the way it is. It's not anyone's fault. It's just how DCS World works. If you enjoy playing modules online then DCS World works "most" of the time. If you enjoy making your own scenarios, DCS World works "most" of the time. If you enjoy playing single player campaigns, or premade missions then look elsewhere, you're out of luck. Chance is, they might work now, but in a few months good luck! It's just the nature of the beast, and I've made my peace with it.

Unfortunately unless you provide tracks, Eagle Dynamics will not look at this as a valid bug report.
-
What price range are you in?
-
Helicopter blades are not moving at low speed relevant to the emitting radar. But they are at an angle, so I guess there is that.

First third party plane I bought for DCS World. No regrets.

As long as the airflow is better, all the more power to you. In a perfect world I would leave my case wide open, and remove all case fans, but that leaves a lot of room for accidents (for one my rabbit might get inside lol) and dust, and hair which would need to be cleaned out like ALL the time. This is why I prefer large cases which have meshed intakes, which help immensely with dust which gathers on them. For reference I use the older generation of BeQuiet's Full Tower case. I can recommend them for everyone: https://www.bequiet.com/en/case
