  1. Can someone please clarify for me, we are actually getting a variant with US avionics?
  2. Planned Pre-Order. Full-stop. No need to mention any kind of release date. Since it's NOT a release date, it is the start of a presale or a preorder. I realize that @Graphics is not a native English speaker, but there are a lot of other non-native English speakers who don't trawl the forums for extra information who might misunderstand that statement.
  3. Just wanted to post a thank you to the people who have helped me out in this here thread. Thanks! Quick question, I just downloaded new nvidia drivers, do I need to go through the whole procedure again or do I just reload my profile? Will it reload my profile automatically on reboot? Thanks again!
  4. How do you get rid of the shimmering if you're not running at least 2x MSAA?
  5. This is terrible, terrible wording. RAZBAM if you care about customer service at all, please inform Graphics to change his phrasing, as a lot, and I seriously mean a lot of people will think that the F15E will be released into EA on the February of 15th.
  6. You are correct, I just linked to the first article I googled describing another type of inlet design. This is a better article: https://hushkit.net/2020/03/16/how-all-fighter-planes-suck-an-idiots-guide-to-supersonic-air-intake The main reason why (some) supersonic fighters use variable inlets, instead of fixed ones is efficiency and speed. A variable inlet allows the jet to operate efficiently at all speeds in it's flight envelope. Yes it is more complex, but if it allows the jet to have longer legs and attain higher top speeds then that is a pretty good tradeoff. Especially considering the fact that the F14 is a big and heavy jet to begin with.
  7. Just because the F16 didn't have variable intake ramps doesn't mean it didn't deal with the supersonic air in another manner. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diverterless_supersonic_inlet
  8. Would you mind posting a link to where I can find this benchmark? I've tried to find some DCS benchmarks with the i5 13600k (or any of the 13th gen Intel CPUs) but have been unsuccessful so far. The only thing I have to go on is my own experience. As far as unused efficiency cores are concerned, there are other things that can be done with the E cores while the P cores are busy doing their thing with the main processes. While you are playing your game, things need to run efficiently in the background. Background windows processes, things like WMR, or SteamVR, etc. all of that adds up and if this workload can be handled efficiently (something that seems to have been fairly well optimized in the Windows 10/11 task scheduler, but that was really broken at launch) then this is definitely a plus. I'm not arguing with you here, I don't even care about how things work within DCS world, my point is that people needlessly believe that this tech is "worthless". It's not.
  9. It all depends on what Eagle Dynamics does with their engine, but even if what you say is true with regards to DCS World (Which I doubt but I have seen 0 actual benchmarks in DCS World comparing these modern CPUs) DCS World is not all I care about in the world.
  10. There is a huge misconception about P and E cores and what they can and cannot do. The E cores are actually pretty great for gaming but they have to be utilized properly, and this can be done in multiple ways. There is a reason why the i5 13600k beats out nearly every single Ryzen out there in most gaming benchmarks that utilize multithreading (yes even the fabled 5800X3D) and even beats out the 12th generation i9.
  11. You are probably right. At the moment I can't be bothered to even start up DCS World. There is simply too much effort involved for far too little reward. The developers breaking their own game every other patch is the straw that broke the camel's back in my case.
  12. We can make very good educated guesses as to why the AF didn't adopt the Phoenix. First of all the AF didn't have a platform that could carry it, the F4 "might" have been modified to carry the phoenix but the phoenix system was a system, it wasn't just the missile. I don't think that the F4 would have been able to mount the AWG9 or the expense of the upgrades simply wasn't worth it. Another thing to consider was the rules of engagement that the AF operated with at the time (and all the way up to and including the early 90s). Engagement of any potential enemy required visual ID. A big heavy BVR missile simply didn't fit the bill here. By the time the F15 hit the scene, the sparrow's reliability and pk had gone way up since the vietnam era days, it would have been a "good enough" interim missile until the AF developed a BVR Fox3 missile of their own.
  13. I don't care. I'm done with DCS World. I've been here for years and frankly I have better things to do with my time than constantly figure things out to make them work just barely. I've been with this game since before DCS World existed as a thing. The one, and single constant through all of these years has been: One step forward, two steps back and my patience is gone. Good luck to all of you, hopefully you don't end up as frustrated as I am, but if you stick with DCS long enough, eventually you will be.
  14. Thank you for the kind words, but I'm so damn tired of Eagle Dynamics implementing half-measures and braking more things than it fixes in the process. DCS is being uninstalled as we speak. I'm so done with this whole thing it's not even funny. The Reverb is going in the box and DCS World is not going to grace my SSDs for a long time. If ever.
  15. This is all nice and everything but how does it help someone who just want's to play DCS World in VR using a native WMR headset, like Reverb G2?
  16. I have no idea of how the control logic is handled in the Phantom, the G-force pulley system in the F14 was designed from the ground up to give the pilot a "force" sensing ability which would allow him to have a pretty good idea on the aerodynamic forces at work on the control surfaces during any given maneuver. This translates pretty great to a FFB joystick. However I can't remember whether we had it at launch, I'm reasonably sure that it was in at launch but honestly I don't remember. If the Phantom has something similar then I assume it would make sense that Heatblur will eventually implement it. However it also depends on whether they have access to a working FFB stick.
  17. I don't believe that the you can hold a constant 45 FPS in VR with the settings you have posted with the G2 at 100% and the specifications that you have listed. Maybe in solo free flight missions, but you will have frequent frame drops and stutter in anything but the most ideal settings and missions.
  18. If they said there would be no FFB support at launch but that it's coming later would you buy the Phantom?
  19. So....the backplate finally arrived yesterday and I installed the new board and CPU. Obviously I had to reinstall windows, graphics drivers etc. Everything went pretty smoothly, I even used MSI afterburner and finally undervolted my graphics card. I didn't really do any proper testing but I tried out three games, DCS World, Snowrunner and WH40K: Darktide. The gains were noticable, in Darktide in particular they were huge. I was finally able to turn on RTX (at 1080p) and the game chugged along like it was nothing. Not a single frame drop or slowdown, while with the old i9-9900k I couldn't run RTX on smoothly and could only get over 60FPS when I turned off raytracing. That game's engine is really optimized for multicore support and it shows. The i5-13600k has 14 physical cores. As for DCS World there was a noticable improvement in VR, but with how the game runs these days that's not saying much. This is with shadows turned off and textures on medium Syria, Mi24p freerange mission. I think I was consistently hitting 45ASW with no framedrops and I didn't notice the slowdown I had before once the numbers of wrecked and smoking tanks and vehicles started going up. In VR i think Ill be sticking with fixed wing planes for the forseeable future anyway, they are much less demanding and I can turn up the eyecandy. Anyway I'm pretty happy with the upgrade, I don't think the performance is there quite there yet with DCS World as it seems to be still very much a single threaded bound game, but once ED implements multicore I think the chip will perform admirably (based on the performance of Darktide)
  20. Im a complete retard. Please, for the love of god where is the "confim button" on the MSI Afterburner Curve page? I can drop the curve to my desired clock speed, but when I need to raise the dots to my desired voltage I can't figure out what key to press? In the video above he says "press confirm" press what to confirm? Also google seems to be clueless and MSI's homepage is even more useless in this regard.
  21. My point was more that the case should be functional and that a more expensive case does not necessarily mean a better case. You don't NEED to buy the most expensive case out there to get the functionality you need, and in effect the price of the case does not always equate to quality.
  22. There is a misconception that some cases are better cooled than others. ALL cases are bad for cooling. Where the better ones shine is in that they do not restrict airflow as much as the lower budget ones. (In addition to other things like a more ergonomic design, offering more space for extra drives, AIO fans etc.) In effect a case has three functions: 1. To keep your hardware safe from any mechanical harm, or accidental spillage etc. that may potentially harm it 2. To keep your hardware as dust and dirt free as possible. (Which is why the best cases have mesh intakes, and a great airflow intake/outtake design) 3. To keep the noise levels of your hardware (coilwhine, etc.) as low as possible (this last one is contentious as some cases have so many fans that they can be quite noisy) Having a great case is cool and everything, but it's not the first thing I look at when building a PC. Also, there are a lot, and I really mean a lot of cases that are very highly priced that are absolutely awful at one or all of the things I listed above, and sometimes even have awful airflow which is absolutely of the greatest importance if you plan on having a closed PC case.
  23. Looks fine, though you really don't need anything faster than 3200MZH RAM, like Dragon already said. Also, you need a CPU cooler. The X3D chips tend to run much hotter than the regular 5XXX chips, but their TDP isn't too high at 105 Watts, but you will need a decent aftermarket cooler if you want to run the X3D. One other thing worth mentioning is the power supply. 650 Watts is simply too low if you want any kind of futureproofing of your system. You need at least 750Watts if you are planning on buying a new graphics card in the next year or so, and potentially you should aim even higher if that GPU is going to be a high end part. (Or if you want to keep your PSU for your next system build)
